For a dependable starting point, use Wipro’s official Last 5 Years data page. Its annual figures are NSE closing prices recorded on March 31 and adjusted for the 2024 bonus issue—not annual averages or a continuous daily series. For a longer study, download one consistent NSE, BSE or NYSE series, record its currency and corporate-action settings, and compare price movement with dividends and dated company disclosures.
Start with Wipro’s official annual snapshots
Wipro’s investor-relations table is useful for orienting yourself before opening a charting service. It presents five March 31 market-price observations, identifies them as NSE closing prices, and says they have been adjusted for the 2024 bonus issue. Because each number represents one trading-day close, the table cannot tell you the average price during the year, the highest or lowest quote, or the path between two year-ends.

The page displays these five adjusted values: ₹207.1, ₹296.0, ₹182.6, ₹240.1 and ₹262.3. They are shown in the order used on the live table. Confirm the column headings on that page before assigning each value to a particular financial year; do not infer a year label from the sequence alone.

|---|---|---|
| ₹207.1 | One March 31 NSE closing-price snapshot, adjusted for the 2024 bonus issue | An annual average or total return |
| ₹296.0 | One March 31 NSE closing-price snapshot, adjusted for the 2024 bonus issue | A continuously traded price over the year |
| ₹182.6 | One March 31 NSE closing-price snapshot, adjusted for the 2024 bonus issue | A standalone explanation for a fall in value |
| ₹240.1 | One March 31 NSE closing-price snapshot, adjusted for the 2024 bonus issue | A dividend-inclusive result |
| ₹262.3 | One March 31 NSE closing-price snapshot, adjusted for the 2024 bonus issue | A forecast of the next year’s price |
In the order displayed, the sequence rises from ₹207.1 to ₹296.0, falls to ₹182.6, then recovers to ₹240.1 and ₹262.3. That shape is enough to prompt questions about volatility, drawdown and recovery. It is not enough to identify the years, calculate a dated return, or prove why the moves occurred until you confirm the headings and consult event-specific disclosures.

Identify the exact listing, currency and instrument
“Wipro share price” can refer to different listings. Wipro identifies its Indian symbols as NSE: WIPRO and BSE: 507685, while its New York Stock Exchange American depositary share (ADS) trades under WIT. A chart that switches between these instruments can create apparent differences that are caused by exchange, currency or depositary-share structure rather than by the underlying business.
| Listing | Symbol or code | Currency and label to record |
|---|---|---|
| National Stock Exchange of India | WIPRO | Indian rupees (₹); label the series NSE |
| BSE Ltd. | 507685 | Indian rupees (₹); label the series BSE |
| New York Stock Exchange | WIT | U.S. dollars; label the series NYSE ADS |
Before exporting data, write down the instrument, exchange, currency, start date, end date and observation frequency. A daily NSE series in rupees and a daily NYSE ADS series in dollars are not interchangeable. If you compare them, state whether you converted currency, how you handled exchange-rate changes and whether both series represent equivalent economic exposure.
Build a longer or more detailed history without changing the basis
The five-point investor-relations table is too sparse for questions such as “How long did a drawdown last?” or “Did the price recover within six months?” For those questions, use a daily, weekly or monthly history from one exchange or one data provider. Keep the same provider and adjustment convention through the entire period whenever possible.
Record the settings before downloading
- Market: NSE, BSE or NYSE, not merely “Wipro.”
- Instrument: WIPRO, 507685 or WIT, including whether the U.S. series is an ADS.
- Date range: Exact first and last dates, including the time zone if the service supplies intraday data.
- Frequency: Daily closes, weekly closes or month-end observations.
- Adjustment: Raw prices, split/bonus-adjusted prices, or a dividend-reinvested total-return series.
- Currency: The quoted currency and any conversion rate or conversion date.
- Missing-data treatment: Whether non-trading days were omitted, carried forward or interpolated.
Do not splice a raw pre-action series onto an adjusted post-action series. A visible jump at the splice can be a data-construction error rather than a market move.

Choose the observation frequency for the question
- Daily data helps inspect gaps, sharp drawdowns and the exact reaction around a filing, but it contains more market noise.
- Weekly data reduces some day-to-day noise while retaining multi-month turning points.
- Month-end data is practical for decade-scale charts and portfolio comparisons, but it can miss a brief high or low.
- March 31 snapshots match Wipro’s annual table and are useful for a quick year-end view, not for measuring the path within each year.
Understand bonus issues and stock splits before reading a trend
A bonus issue increases the number of shares held by eligible shareholders without being a cash payment. A stock split changes the number of shares and the quoted denomination. In either case, the historical per-share price must be restated if you want a visually meaningful comparison across the event. Otherwise, the chart can show an apparent step down that reflects a changed share count rather than an equivalent loss of shareholder value.
Wipro says its five-year prices are adjusted for the 2024 bonus issue. Its historical share-capital information also records earlier bonus issues and a 1999 stock split. The company’s annual-report archive and exchange-filings archive are the appropriate places to verify an event date, ratio and filing; the historical 2004–05 annual report is evidence of the past record, not a guarantee that it is a complete current register.
Raw, adjusted and total-return series
| Series type | Best use | Main limitation |
|---|---|---|
| Raw close | Reproducing the quote that appeared on a particular trading day | Pre- and post-bonus or split prices may not be comparable |
| Bonus/split-adjusted close | Comparing price appreciation across corporate actions | Usually excludes cash dividends unless explicitly stated |
| Dividend-reinvested total return | Estimating the result of reinvesting distributions | Depends on the provider’s dividend dates, taxes and reinvestment assumptions |
Ask the provider exactly which events it adjusts and whether the adjustment is backward-looking. Two sites can both say “adjusted” while applying different rules. For an exact corporate-action factor, verify the relevant current company report or exchange filing rather than guessing from a chart.

A repeatable workflow for spotting long-term trends
- Define the question. Decide whether you are measuring price appreciation, volatility, drawdown, recovery time or an investor’s total return. A single chart cannot answer all five.
- Fix the instrument and dates. Select NSE: WIPRO, BSE: 507685 or NYSE: WIT; write down the currency and exact start and end dates.
- Apply one corporate-action method. Use the same raw, bonus/split-adjusted or total-return setting from the first observation to the last.
- Inspect several horizons. Examine a short window such as one year, a medium window such as three to five years, and the longest common window available. A start-to-end result can hide a large interim loss.
- Mark peaks, troughs and recoveries. Record the date of a high, the subsequent low, the percentage drawdown and the date on which the prior high was regained, if it was regained.
- Calculate returns on comparable points. For a price-only period return, use (adjusted ending price ÷ adjusted starting price) − 1. Label the result with the dates, exchange, currency and adjustment method.
- Separate observation from explanation. “The price fell 25% between these dates” is an observation. “It fell because of a particular business event” requires a dated filing or other direct evidence.
- Check distributions separately. Add dividends only when you are deliberately constructing a total-return measure and have a documented reinvestment convention.
- Save the source and settings. Keep the download date, provider name, adjustment toggle and any corporate-action notes so another reader can reproduce the chart.
Read drawdowns, recoveries and volatility—not just the endpoints
A long-term trend is a path, not a line between two selected dates. Suppose an adjusted series begins at 100, reaches 160, falls to 110 and ends at 150. The endpoint gain is 50%, but an investor who bought at the peak experienced a 31.25% decline before the later recovery. The example illustrates why peak-to-trough loss and time to recover belong beside the period return.

Useful measurements
- Period return: The percentage change between two comparable adjusted prices.
- Maximum drawdown: The largest peak-to-subsequent-trough decline in the selected window.
- Recovery time: The elapsed time from a trough until the previous peak is exceeded or regained.
- Rolling return: Returns calculated over a fixed moving window, such as every trailing 12 months, to show how sensitive results are to the chosen start date.
- Volatility: The dispersion of periodic returns; state the frequency and calculation convention if you report it.
Do not label a chart “long-term outperformance” merely because its final point is above its first point. State the full window, include interim drawdowns and show whether the series is price-only or total return.
Price change is not the same as total shareholder return
A price-only chart excludes cash distributions. Wipro reports dividends separately from its market-price data, so a shareholder’s realized result can differ from the movement in a quoted close. Use a dividend-reinvested total-return series when your question is “What would the investment have been worth with distributions reinvested?” Use an adjusted price series when your question is specifically about the per-share market price.
Wipro declared an interim dividend of ₹2 per equity share for the quarter ended June 30, 2026. That announcement should not be silently added to a price chart: identify the ex-dividend and payment conventions used by your data source, and state whether taxes, withholding or reinvestment are included.

A price chart can show what happened, but it does not establish why. Look for a disclosure that actually contains the proposed cause rather than inferring causation from timing alone.

| Wipro disclosure | Reported figure or statement | How to use it in a history review |
|---|---|---|
| Results for the quarter ended June 30, 2026, released July 16, 2026 | Gross revenue of ₹244.8 billion | Business context for the period; not proof that a particular price move was caused by revenue |
| Same results release | IT services revenue of US$2,614.5 million | Track operating performance in its reported currency and compare with the appropriate listing data |
| Same results release | Interim dividend of ₹2 per equity share | Record separately when distinguishing price return from total return |
| CEO and Managing Director Srini Pallia’s commentary | “Clients are moving beyond technology modernization to AI-enabled operating models” | Company strategy commentary, not a demonstrated explanation for historical share-price movement |
Quarterly and annual figures can help you test a hypothesis—for example, whether a sustained trend coincided with changing revenue, margins, cash flow or dividend policy—but they do not turn correlation into causation. Keep the wording precise: “the move followed the release” is different from “the release caused the move.”
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Compare Wipro with an index or another company on equal terms
Relative performance is meaningful only when both series use the same framework. Before placing Wipro beside an index or another company, align the following dimensions.
| Comparison axis | Decision to make |
|---|---|
| Listing and instrument | Use the same type of listing where possible, or explain why an Indian share is being compared with a U.S.-dollar ADS. |
| Currency | Keep both series in one currency or identify the conversion method and date. |
| Date range | Use identical start and end dates and account for non-trading days. |
| Corporate actions | Apply equivalent split and bonus adjustments to every series. |
| Dividend treatment | Compare price-only with price-only or total-return with total-return; do not mix them. |
| Observation frequency | Use the same daily, weekly or monthly sampling rule. |
If one series is an index total return and the other is a stock price-only series, the apparent gap includes a methodology difference. Fix the basis before drawing a conclusion about relative performance.

Common mistakes and how to correct them
Using an unadjusted chart across a bonus issue
Symptom: A sudden price drop looks like a one-day collapse. Correction: Turn on the provider’s split/bonus adjustment, verify the event in a current filing and keep the setting consistent for the whole history.
Best Value
Calling March 31 a yearly average
Symptom: A five-row table is described as Wipro’s average annual price. Correction: Describe each entry as the NSE closing price on March 31 and use a higher-frequency series for averages.
Mixing NSE, BSE and NYSE data
Symptom: The chart appears to contain unexplained currency or level differences. Correction: Label every series with its exchange, symbol and currency; compare like with like or explain the conversion.
Ignoring dividends
Symptom: A price-only result is presented as the investor’s complete return. Correction: State that cash distributions are excluded, or use a documented total-return series.
Assigning a cause from timing alone
Symptom: A move is attributed to earnings, AI demand or a macro event without a source that makes the connection. Correction: Cite the dated company or exchange disclosure and distinguish its stated facts from your interpretation.
Calculating a return before confirming the year labels
Symptom: The five official values are assigned to years based only on their order. Correction: Check the live table’s headings first, then document the exact dates used in the calculation.
A compact checklist for publishing or reviewing a Wipro chart
- Is the instrument clearly identified as NSE: WIPRO, BSE: 507685 or NYSE: WIT?
- Are the currency, date range and observation frequency visible?
- Does the chart say raw, bonus/split-adjusted or dividend-reinvested?
- Does the adjustment method cover the 2024 bonus issue and earlier events relevant to the chosen period?
- Are March 31 observations described as closing snapshots rather than annual averages?
- Are dividends treated separately from price movement?
- Are peaks, troughs, drawdowns and recoveries shown rather than only the first and last points?
- Does every proposed explanation have a dated filing, annual report or results release behind it?
- If another listing, stock or index is shown, are currency, corporate actions, dividends and frequency matched?
- Does the wording describe historical observation rather than a forecast or personal investment recommendation?
What a careful reading can—and cannot—tell you
Wipro’s official five-year table gives a clean, company-published set of March 31 NSE closing snapshots adjusted for the 2024 bonus issue. It is a useful anchor, not a complete price history. A defensible long-term analysis adds a consistently defined series, verifies historical bonus issues and the 1999 split, distinguishes Indian listings from the NYSE ADS, and separates price return from dividends. It then tests possible explanations against dated operating disclosures instead of treating a chart pattern as proof.
Following that process lets you describe the WIPRO share-price trend accurately— including its setbacks and recoveries—without turning an incomplete or mismatched chart into a prediction.
