To read Tata Consultancy Services’ latest results, start by separating what it earned from services delivered from what it booked in contracts. In Q2 FY27, the three months ended September 30, 2026, TCS reported revenue of $7,642 million, operating margin of 24.0%, net margin of 19.0%, and quarterly total contract value (TCV) of $9.6 billion. Revenue and profit describe the quarter’s reported performance; TCV is a contract-booking measure, not revenue already earned.
Which quarter do the latest figures cover?
TCS announced Q2 FY27 results on October 8, 2026. The quarter covers the three months ended September 30, 2026. TCS’s fiscal year runs from April 1 through March 31, so Q2 FY27 is the second quarter of the fiscal year ending March 31, 2027. TCS’s investor relations page organizes results by quarter.

How should you read TCS revenue and growth?
Revenue is the amount reported for services delivered during the period. For Q2 FY27, TCS reported revenue of $7,642 million, or ₹731,880 million. These are two currency presentations of the quarter’s revenue, not separate revenue streams.

Always keep the comparison period and currency attached to a growth rate. TCS reported Q2 FY27 revenue growth of 2.4% year over year in USD, 0.2% quarter over quarter in USD, and 0.5% quarter over quarter in constant currency. These figures answer different questions: the first compares with the same quarter a year earlier; the latter two compare with the preceding quarter, with the constant-currency measure adjusting for currency movements. Do not treat the USD and constant-currency rates as interchangeable.
#1 Best Overall
Constant currency helps isolate changes in the underlying business from exchange-rate effects. It is useful alongside reported-currency growth, not as a replacement for it. When comparing TCS quarters, use matching periods and bases—for example, year-over-year USD against year-over-year USD, rather than against sequential INR growth.
What do operating and net margins tell you?
For Q2 FY27, TCS reported an operating margin of 24.0% and a net margin of 19.0%. Operating income was $1,833 million and net income was $1,450 million under the IFRS statement.

Operating margin
Operating margin relates operating income to revenue and indicates how much of reported revenue remains after operating costs. It focuses on the profitability of the company’s operations.

Net margin relates net income to revenue. Net income reflects the amount remaining after items beyond operating costs, including other income and taxes. It therefore answers a broader profitability question than operating margin.
Rank #3
For historical comparisons, check the release’s notes as well as the headline percentages. TCS’s comparative financial table identifies some periods as excluding exceptional items; comparing a figure with exclusions to one without them can mislead.
How should you interpret TCV and deal announcements?
TCS reported quarterly TCV of $9.6 billion. TCV is the total contract value reported for contracts signed during the quarter. It is a demand and booking signal, not the value of services delivered or revenue recognized during that same quarter. The reported materials do not establish a formula or schedule for converting that quarter’s TCV into future revenue.

TCS also announced a five-year strategic partnership with Porsche AG and the acquisition of MHP, Porsche’s Germany-based management and IT consulting subsidiary. Separately, it announced an agreement to transition Best Buy’s India Global Capability Center to TCS and transform it into an AI Capability Center. These announcements provide context about business activity, but an announced partnership or transition should not be described as immediate revenue.

Net cash from operations was $1.48 billion in Q2 FY27, equal to 102.2% of net income. Comparing operating cash flow with net income is a useful cross-check: it shows whether reported earnings were accompanied by cash generated from operations in the period. It is one measure to read alongside profit, not a substitute for margins or revenue.

Which segments and markets led sequential growth?
In company-reported constant-currency figures, sequential growth was led by BFSI at 2.5%, Manufacturing at 3.1%, and Technology & Services at 3.1%. International revenue grew 1.2% quarter over quarter in constant currency. These are reported results for the quarter, not independent forecasts.
CEO and Managing Director K Krithivasan described the quarter as showing “broad-based growth in all our international markets and most industry segments.” That is management commentary; evaluate it alongside the segment and geography figures rather than treating the statement as a separate financial measure.
How can you compare TCS results from one period to another?

- Margins: compare operating with operating and net with net; check whether historical figures exclude exceptional items.
- Cash conversion: look at operating cash flow relative to net income to add a cash-generation perspective.
- Bookings: assess TCV and deal announcements separately from revenue recognized for services delivered.
- Business mix: note which industries and geographies contributed to reported growth.
TCS reports consolidated results under Ind AS and IFRS. Its financial statements page notes that the company adopted Ind AS effective April 1, 2016; accounting framework and period should be consistent in any comparison. See TCS financial statements for quarterly statements and accounting context.
