The three titles are separate manga lines, so Two Blue Vortex is not a volume-number continuation of the earlier Boruto collection.
That sequence gives you the complete central comic storyline without requiring novels or side books. Those related publications are cataloged separately and are best treated as optional reading after the core manga, because no single official chronology places every tie-in for a spoiler-free first pass.

The correct core reading order
The simplest route is a straight three-part sequence:
| Order | Manga line | Where to begin | Where the supplied edition ends or currently starts |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Naruto | Volume 1 | Volume 72 |
| 2 | Boruto: Naruto Next Generations | Chapter 1 or Volume 1 | Chapter 80 / Volume 20 |
| 3 | Boruto: Two Blue Vortex | Chapter 1 or Volume 1 | Continue through the available chapters and collected volumes |
Finish one line before opening the next. In particular, do not jump from Naruto directly into Two Blue Vortex, and do not treat the first Boruto series’ final volume number as the starting number for Two Blue Vortex.

Why this order avoids confusion
The franchise’s official comics navigation identifies Naruto, Boruto: Naruto Next Generations, and Boruto: Two Blue Vortex as three separately named comic lines. Their catalogs therefore function like three shelves rather than one uninterrupted volume run. Reading by title first, then by chapter or volume number inside that title, prevents the most common ordering mistake: assuming that a volume labeled “1” in Two Blue Vortex is an earlier edition of Boruto: Naruto Next Generations.
This approach also keeps the story’s generational handoff in sequence. The original Naruto collection is the foundation; Boruto: Naruto Next Generations is the first next-generation line; and Two Blue Vortex is the subsequent distinct segment.
Step 1: Read Naruto Volumes 1–72
Start with Volume 1
Begin at Naruto Volume 1 and read the collected editions in numerical order through Volume 72. A complete first pass means finishing Volume 72 before starting either Boruto title. If your library or digital service displays chapters instead of books, use its Naruto series page and proceed from the earliest available chapter to the final chapter in that catalog; the volume-based endpoint remains Volume 72.

Why you should not skip the original series
Boruto: Naruto Next Generations is presented as a next-generation story, so reading it first assumes familiarity with events and relationships established in Naruto. Starting at the beginning preserves the intended introduction to the setting and protects you from later-series references that reveal earlier developments.
How to verify that you are still in the right series
- Check that the product or series title says Naruto, not Boruto: Naruto Next Generations or Boruto: Two Blue Vortex.
- Confirm that the volume number is between 1 and 72.
- Do not use a “complete collection” label as proof that you have reached the correct endpoint unless its contents identify all 72 numbered volumes or the equivalent complete run.
Step 2: Read Boruto: Naruto Next Generations Chapters 1–80
Start a new series at Chapter 1 or Volume 1
After Naruto Volume 72, switch to the separately cataloged series Boruto: Naruto Next Generations. Read from Chapter 1 through Chapter 80, or use the collected edition from Volume 1 through Volume 20. These are two formats for the same series, not two different continuities.

Know which edition you are buying or borrowing
The official series listing credits Masashi Kishimoto with creation and supervision, Mikio Ikemoto with art, and Ukyo Kodachi with the script. Those credits can help distinguish this series from similarly titled guidebooks, novels, and later Two Blue Vortex products. The catalog lists Boruto: Naruto Next Generations, Vol. 20 as the final collected volume in the supplied sequence.
Keep chapter and volume numbering aligned
If you read digitally, stop when you have completed Chapter 80. If you read print collections, stop after Volume 20. Do not switch formats midway without checking the chapter range in the book or app: different services can group chapters differently, while the numbered volume endpoint is fixed by the collected edition listed here.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesWhat not to do
- Do not begin with Volume 20 simply because it is the latest number you see.
- Do not insert a Naruto novel between Naruto Volume 72 and Boruto unless you deliberately want optional material.
- Do not move to Two Blue Vortex after an arbitrary early Boruto volume. Complete Chapter 80 or Volume 20 first.
Step 3: Begin Boruto: Two Blue Vortex
Start again at Chapter 1 or Volume 1
Once you finish Boruto: Naruto Next Generations, open the distinct manga catalog for Boruto: Two Blue Vortex. Start with Chapter 1 if you read official digital chapters, or Volume 1 if you prefer collected books. The title begins its own volume numbering, so there is no Volume 21 of Boruto: Naruto Next Generations that you need to find first.
Continue from the available material
The current product listing supplied for Two Blue Vortex shows Volumes 1–6. That is a catalog status, not a claim that the manga’s story is finished. After Volume 1, read the subsequent volumes in numerical order and use the chapter list when a digital edition is your primary format.
Why the separate title matters
Using the full title when searching prevents accidental jumps between editions. Search for “Boruto: Two Blue Vortex” rather than only “Boruto,” then verify that the result identifies Volume 1 or Chapter 1 of that series. This is especially important when a retailer or library places both Boruto lines in one franchise shelf.

Volume reading versus digital chapter reading
Both formats can deliver the same core order. Choose based on how you track progress and how much control you want over the transition between series.

| Reading method | Best workflow | Main advantage | Watch for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Collected print or digital volumes | Naruto Volumes 1–72 → Boruto: Naruto Next Generations Volumes 1–20 → Two Blue Vortex Volume 1 onward | Simple shelf or library tracking with clear numbered endpoints | Confirm the full series title before purchasing or borrowing a volume |
| Official digital chapters | Read the first series from its earliest chapter, then Chapter 1 of each next series | Lets you begin a new line immediately and follow ongoing releases | Chapter lists may be grouped differently by service, so verify the series name and chapter number |
| Mixed format | Finish one line in either format, then begin the next at its own Chapter 1 or Volume 1 | Useful when older books are available in print but newer chapters are digital | Record your stopping point before changing platforms |
A practical tracking note should include both the title and the number, such as “Boruto: Naruto Next Generations — Volume 20 complete” or “Two Blue Vortex — Chapter 14.” Writing only “Boruto 20” is ambiguous because it does not identify the series.
Optional novels and side stories
The official related-publications catalog separates supplementary works from the three core manga lines. It includes Boruto novels, Naruto novels, Konoha’s Story, the Shinden and Hiden series, and Naruto: The Seventh Hokage and the Scarlet Spring, among other related titles.
The safest first-pass policy
Read the three manga lines straight through before adding tie-ins. This gives you a complete core-story path without requiring you to decide where every novel belongs. The catalog does not establish one universal placement for all supplementary books, and inserting a side story at the wrong point can expose details from a later section of the manga.
If you want an expanded reading path
- Complete Naruto Volumes 1–72.
- Complete Boruto: Naruto Next Generations Chapters 1–80 or Volumes 1–20.
- Complete the available Boruto: Two Blue Vortex material beginning with Chapter 1 or Volume 1.
- Return to the related-publications catalog and choose a novel or side story based on the characters and period you want to explore.
- Label every supplement as optional and check its own publication description for spoiler warnings before reading it.
This expanded route prioritizes spoiler control over a speculative day-by-day chronology. It also lets you stop after the core comics without leaving the main reading order unfinished.

Common ordering mistakes and how to fix them
Starting with Boruto because it appears first in a search result
Search results often mix franchise products. Fix this by returning to Naruto Volume 1 and completing the original 72-volume line first.
Confusing the two Boruto series
If a listing says only “Boruto,” inspect the full product title. Boruto: Naruto Next Generations uses Volumes 1–20 in the sequence described here. Boruto: Two Blue Vortex starts a separate collection at Volume 1.
Assuming a side novel is mandatory
Side novels and related publications are supplements, not prerequisites for the three-line core path. Leave them until after the manga unless you have a specific reason to read an optional character story.
Switching from chapters to volumes without recording progress
Write down the exact series and number before changing apps, libraries, or formats. A note that names only “Chapter 20” can refer to either Boruto line; a title-qualified note cannot.
A spoiler-controlled checklist
- ☐ Finish Naruto Volume 72.
- ☐ Open the separate Boruto: Naruto Next Generations listing.
- ☐ Read Chapters 1–80 or Volumes 1–20.
- ☐ Open the separate Boruto: Two Blue Vortex listing.
- ☐ Begin at Chapter 1 or Volume 1.
- ☐ Continue through the available Two Blue Vortex volumes and chapters.
- ☐ Add novels and side stories only after checking their individual descriptions for possible spoilers.

It is complete at the level of the three identified manga lines, works in print or official digital formats, and avoids assigning uncertain chronology to side publications. As the official premise line puts it, “A new generation of ninja are ready to take the stage!”
