The Railyard Nomad Camp is underground beneath the Railyard on Pendola Pass. The least exposed approach is from the Railyard’s west or southwest side: find the walk-in drainage pipe or underground passage near the Transit Tunnel and the tracks that descend below ground, then follow it to the camp’s raised catwalks. Search the yellow bag at the central junction for the Equatorial Sundial.
That route reduces unnecessary exposure, but it is not guaranteed safe. The Railyard attracts other players, ARC activity can change between raids, and the later church-tower interaction leaves you vulnerable. Carry an empty inventory slot, use a Safe Pocket for the Sundial when your augment provides one, and check the area before every interaction.

What you need before entering Pendola Pass
The Clean Hands objective is easier to complete when the extraction plan is decided before you reach the Railyard. The item is small enough to fit in a normal inventory slot, but losing it on the way out can force another attempt.

- Plan to use a Safe Pocket. If your current augment includes one, put the Equatorial Sundial there immediately after picking it up. PC Gamer and GamesRadar+ give the same advice for protecting the item during the extraction leg.
- Approach from the western half of the Railyard. The route descriptions consistently place the useful entrance on the west or southwest side, rather than at the center of the yard.
- Keep enough resources for a second movement phase. Taking the Sundial is only the first part of Clean Hands; the objective continues to Old Town and then to extraction from Pendola Pass.
There are no verified coordinates in the available walkthroughs. Treat the broad area and physical landmarks as navigation aids, not as a promise that a doorway will be at a particular map square after an update.

Step-by-step route to the Nomad Camp
1. Start by orienting on the Railyard’s west side
The Railyard is described as a central location on Pendola Pass. From your approach, stay on its western or southwestern perimeter and look for the Transit Tunnel and the railway tracks that descend underground. Moving directly through the busiest central yards gives you more angles from which another player can see you and does not help you find the camp entrance.
2. Identify the drainage pipe or underground passage
Walk-in drainage pipes are the most consistent visual clue. The guides describe a pipe or passage between the Railyard and the Transit Tunnel, close to the descending tracks. Some call it a drainage pipe; others describe an underground passage. These are descriptions of the same general approach area, not separately confirmed entrances.
Look for an opening large enough to enter on foot. If you are beside the tracks but cannot see a pipe, scan along the western and southwestern edges instead of circling the entire yard. The quest marker and the live geometry take priority over a written landmark if the layout has changed.
3. Enter the passage and follow it below the yard
Once inside, continue through the passage toward the underground structures. Avoid stopping at the mouth of the pipe to sort your inventory or inspect equipment; that position is visible from the yard. Move far enough inside to break outside sightlines before checking your map or preparing the empty slot.

4. Use the depot only as an alternate entrance
AllThingsHow also describes entering through the ground-floor depot. This can help when the western pipe is blocked by another player or an active encounter, but it is not a different destination. The Nomad Camp itself is on raised catwalks, so a depot entry requires you to move upward after entering rather than searching only at floor level.
5. Climb to the raised catwalks
Inside the camp, look above ground level. The target area is built around elevated metal walkways. Follow the available walkway toward its central junction; searching storage on the lowest floor can waste time because the objective item is associated with the catwalk area.
6. Find the central junction and yellow bag
At the walkway junction, search the yellow bag for the Equatorial Sundial. Barrels and crates covered with blue tarps are reported nearby and can help confirm that you are in the right section, but they are environmental clues rather than guaranteed coordinates. Props may be displaced or look different after an update.

Pick up the Sundial only after checking the immediate walkways and nearby approaches. Place it in your Safe Pocket when that option is available; otherwise keep it in the reserved inventory slot and avoid opening menus in the exposed center of the camp. The quest marker should update when you reach the camp or take the objective item. If it does not, verify that you searched the yellow bag and that the item is actually in your inventory before leaving.

8. Leave by the route that presents the fewest new sightlines
There is no evidence that the entrance passage is permanently safer on the return trip, so listen and look before committing to it. If the yard has become active, wait inside cover for a clear movement window rather than standing on the catwalk or at the pipe mouth. Your goal is to get out of the Railyard before beginning the Old Town section, not to win an unnecessary fight over the objective.
Landmarks and entrance descriptions compared
The current walkthroughs agree on the broad route but use slightly different names for the same approach. This table shows what each description contributes and what it does not establish.

Use the table as a way to reconcile labels, not as three separate routes that must all be found. If the pipe, depot, or track geometry looks different in your build, the in-game quest marker and visible passage are more reliable than a memorized prop location.

How to reduce danger around the Railyard
Assume other players may be present
Current guides characterize the Railyard as a high-traffic area. The western entrance limits the amount of time spent crossing open ground, but it does not make the route private. Approach quietly, avoid unnecessary firing that advertises your position, and check angles before stepping onto a catwalk or interacting with the bag.

Check for ARC activity before committing
PC Gamer advises against approaching when an Arc Frigate is present. That is situational guidance from one walkthrough, not a universal rule that every frigate blocks the objective. Treat the frigate as a reason to pause and reassess the approach, especially if its presence covers the pipe, track junction, or your intended exit.
Do not search while exposed
The central catwalk junction is where you need to interact with the yellow bag, so prepare before you reach it. Keep the correct inventory screen ready, identify your retreat direction, and inspect the surrounding walkways first. If you need to stand still, use the least visible section of the catwalk rather than the railing or the opening to the yard.
Expect the church approach to be dangerous too
AllThingsHow notes flying ARC near the church route and warns that interacting with the railing leaves the player exposed. Completing the camp objective does not end the risk. Save enough time and equipment to cross Old Town without assuming that the extraction leg is a safe walk.
Continuing Clean Hands after the Sundial
Taking the item sends you onward to Old Town. The walkthroughs describe the next objective at the church tower, where you display the Sundial at the railing.
- Leave the Railyard and travel to Old Town. Choose cover and timing based on the current raid rather than following a fixed sprint line.
- Enter the church tower and use the spiral stairs. Continue upward until you reach the tower section described by the quest.
- Use the zipline to reach the interaction area. The zipline is part of the route described by the current guides; check for ARC and player exposure before using it.
- Interact at the tower railing to display the Sundial. The interaction is not a protected hand-in. AllThingsHow specifically warns that the railing can leave you exposed, so clear nearby threats and identify your exit before activating it.
- Extract from Pendola Pass. PC Gamer describes activating a gondola console, while AllThingsHow calls the relevant point a radio beacon and describes boarding the gondola. The labels differ, so follow the objective marker and the live extraction prompt in your build.
The exact extraction object may be named differently across guides or versions, but both descriptions point to the same final requirement: activate the marked extraction point and board the gondola when it becomes available.
What to do when the route does not match a guide
You cannot find the pipe
Return to the western or southwestern edge and use the Transit Tunnel and descending tracks as your reference. The entrance is described as a walk-in pipe or passage, not a tiny crawlspace that requires a special item. Search along the connection between the tunnel and the yard instead of looking for a precise coordinate.
You entered the depot but see no camp
Move upward. The camp target is on raised catwalks, while the depot route begins at ground level. Follow stairs, ramps, or walkways until you reach the elevated junction.
The yellow bag is missing
Confirm that you are at the central catwalk junction and check the nearby barrels and blue-tarp-covered crates as orientation clues. Do not assume those props guarantee the bag’s exact position. If the quest marker points elsewhere, follow it; if the marker has not updated, recheck whether you actually entered the camp and whether the item has been added to your inventory.
You have no Safe Pocket
Keep the Sundial in the open inventory slot you reserved before the raid and treat the remaining route as a higher-priority extraction. The Safe Pocket recommendation applies only when your augment provides one; it is not a requirement for the quest to register.
The camp is occupied
Do not force the interaction while another player has the catwalk covered. Break line of sight inside the passage or behind solid structures, listen for movement, and leave if the encounter cannot be managed without exposing the Sundial. A route described as safer is a way to reduce exposure, not a promise that opponents or ARC will be absent.
Version and map caveats
The route information comes from current editorial walkthroughs rather than an official developer map or route document. The guides converge on the western-side entrance and the yellow-bag objective, but they do not establish exact coordinates. Quest names, item placement, map geometry, ARC behavior, and extraction mechanics can change with updates. When a written landmark conflicts with the live layout, use the quest marker, inspect the visible structures, and follow the current interaction prompt.

- Confirm that your augment provides a Safe Pocket if you plan to use one.
- Approach the Railyard from the west or southwest.
