AT&T also lists chat and callback options. It does not publish a universal keypad shortcut or phrase guaranteed to bypass its automated phone system.
Which AT&T number should you call?
AT&T uses different support routes for different services. Its support page lists these general numbers and availability:

| Service | Published contact route | Availability shown |
|---|---|---|
| Wireless | 800.331.0500, or 611 from an AT&T mobile device | 24/7 on AT&T’s general support page |
| Internet or home phone | 800.288.2020 | 24/7 on AT&T’s general support page |
For other services, start at AT&T’s contact page and select the category that matches your account—such as AT&T Prepaid, DIRECTV, or U-verse TV. The page then shows relevant phone and chat options. Do not assume a wireless number is the right route for a TV, prepaid, or internet issue.
How can you get past AT&T’s automated phone system?
AT&T’s published support information does not provide a universal sequence of keypad presses or a magic phrase that reliably connects every caller to a person. Menus can depend on the service and reason for calling, so follow the prompts for your specific issue rather than relying on an unofficial shortcut.

- Identify the service and issue before calling—for example, wireless billing or home-internet troubleshooting.
- Use the matching number or select your service on AT&T’s contact page.
- Follow the prompts that best describe the issue. If the option is offered, request a callback rather than staying on hold.
- Have account information ready if AT&T’s page or a representative requests it. Never give an unsolicited caller a one-time PIN: AT&T says it will not call customers to ask for one.
Can you use chat or request a callback?
Yes. AT&T lists chat with a representative on its wireless support page, and its contact page presents options after you choose a service. Chat availability may vary by service and time; AT&T does not promise an immediate representative.
AT&T’s general support page says, “Speak to a tech expert within five minutes or schedule a callback at a time you prefer.” That is AT&T’s statement about its support option, not a guarantee that every caller, issue, or service will reach a person within five minutes.

What if you need accessibility support?
AT&T’s accessibility support page lists National Center for Customers with Disabilities voice support at 866.241.6568 and TTY support at 866.241.6567. The posted hours are Monday–Friday, 9 a.m.–7 p.m. CT, and Saturday, 9 a.m.–6 p.m. CT; it is closed Sunday. For disability-service support across Wireless, Internet, AT&T Phone, and U-verse TV, the page also lists 800.288.2020. Check the current accessibility page to confirm the route for your service.
Why do AT&T’s support hours appear different?
AT&T’s general support page lists wireless help as available 24/7, while its wireless-specific bill and account support page lists Monday–Friday, 8 a.m.–8 p.m. CT, and Saturday–Sunday, 9 a.m.–7 p.m. CT. The pages describe different support contexts, so check the service-specific page for your issue before relying on posted hours.
