What is confirmed about Planet Zoo 2
Frontier announced Planet Zoo 2 for release on 13 October 2026. The June 2026 announcement describes educational opportunities around the zoo and management tools for serving guests. It does not specify the education formula, the satisfaction formula, the names of the relevant panels, or whether education and satisfaction are separate ratings.

That distinction matters because a familiar menu or score from the first game may not exist in the sequel, and a feature described in a launch overview is not a promise that every original calculation remains unchanged. Treat the following table as a boundary for reliable advice rather than as a list of confirmed Planet Zoo 2 mechanics.

The practical goal is therefore conditional: raise whatever the sequel identifies as guest learning while watching the satisfaction indicators that are actually present in your version. A controlled, reversible process is safer than copying an old build guide.

What the original Planet Zoo changed
Frontier’s original Planet Zoo Update 1.2, released on 7 April 2020, explicitly separated guest education from guest happiness. The update described education as contributing an additional desire-to-spend multiplier rather than directly being a happiness value. It also added a Guest Education management screen with an education-rating breakdown and an education heat map. The heat map could identify overlapping speaker areas of different types.
This is useful precedent, not proof about Planet Zoo 2. It suggests three sensible things to check in the sequel:
- whether the guest or zoo-management interface exposes an education rating or a learning breakdown;
- whether the game shows where guests are receiving educational coverage along paths and viewing areas; and
- whether different speaker zones are reported as overlapping or conflicting.
If the sequel contains none of those tools, use the feedback it does provide instead. Do not invent menu paths such as a Guest Education screen, and do not treat a speaker heat map as present merely because the original game had one.

Set a baseline before changing education
A baseline prevents you from mistaking a normal fluctuation for a successful education upgrade. Use a quiet save or duplicate the zoo if the game allows it, then record the current state before placing or moving anything.
- Pause and note the date, season and time of day. Guest numbers and spending can vary with the simulation clock. Recording the moment makes later comparisons fairer.
- Open every guest-facing management panel available in your build. Write down the education value, any satisfaction or happiness value, attendance, complaints, and income figures that the interface exposes. If a value is not shown, mark it as unavailable rather than estimating it.
- Choose a representative area. A busy path beside a popular exhibit is more informative than an empty corner. Include at least one viewing area where guests normally stop.
- Observe before editing. Let the zoo run long enough to see ordinary guest movement and feedback. Note whether visitors stop at educational objects, pass them without interacting, or leave the area because of another problem.
- Save a comparison point. A manual save, duplicated scenario or written baseline lets you reverse a change that damages satisfaction.
Do not compare a crowded entrance immediately after opening with a quiet late-session path. Compare similar operating conditions, or repeat the observation at more than one time.
Find the sequel’s education controls
The exact labels may differ, so search by function rather than by the original game’s terminology. Start with the management, guests, zoo, habitat or exhibit screens. Look for a panel that shows learning, education, information, guest knowledge, audience response or coverage. The game’s help overlay and tooltips are more authoritative than an old video or forum post.

If an education rating is shown
Read its breakdown before placing anything. A breakdown may tell you whether the weak result comes from low coverage, low interaction, an unstaffed feature, a blocked viewing position or another condition. Improve the lowest confirmed component first. Do not assume that adding a second item is useful when the first item is inaccessible.

If only local feedback is shown
Use guest thoughts, notifications, map overlays and exhibit information to identify where learning is failing. Mark the path or viewing area that produces the complaint, then change one nearby factor. A local observation is less precise than a formal rating, but it is still safer than changing the whole zoo at once.
If no education feedback is visible
Do not claim that education is working or failing based on decoration alone. You can still place educational features where guests naturally pause, but treat the result as unverified. Watch satisfaction closely and wait for an official explanation or an in-game update before drawing a firm conclusion about the score.
Use coverage before adding more equipment
The original game’s heat map makes coverage a useful first diagnostic. If Planet Zoo 2 offers a comparable view, turn it on and inspect the entire guest route, not just the exhibit you are currently editing.
Look for uncovered guest paths
Trace the route from the entrance to major viewing areas. A feature that reaches only the first few metres of a path may leave the rest of the audience unserved. Place or reposition education within the areas the game identifies as uncovered, while keeping paths wide enough for normal movement.
Check viewing positions
Guests may learn only when they can see or use a feature. If the coverage overlay stops before a viewing point, move the feature closer to the place where visitors actually stand. Preserve sight lines and avoid blocking the exhibit with a new object.

Inspect overlap and conflicts
If the sequel warns about overlapping speakers or competing coverage, resolve that warning before buying more devices. Two sources in the same small zone may waste capacity, create unwanted audio overlap or leave distant paths unserved. Spread coverage along the route rather than stacking every source beside one exhibit.
Separate diagnosis from decoration
A sign, screen or speaker can look appropriate without contributing to the education metric. Confirm its function in a tooltip, management panel or guest response. Decorative additions should not be counted as educational capacity unless the game identifies them as such.
Make one change at a time
Small experiments protect satisfaction and reveal cause and effect. Change a single variable, then observe the same area under comparable conditions.

- Choose the least disruptive adjustment. Reposition an existing feature, remove an overlap or improve access before adding a large structure.
- Apply the change while paused. Check pathing, visibility, staff access and any warnings before resuming the simulation.
- Run the zoo and record both outcomes. Note the education indicator and every satisfaction signal shown for that area. Record attendance or income only as context, not as proof of education.
- Keep, revise or undo the change. Keep it when learning improves and satisfaction remains stable; revise it when learning improves but a specific satisfaction signal worsens; undo it when the change produces no measurable benefit or creates a clear problem.
Changing several speakers, signs and viewing platforms together makes it impossible to know which action helped. It also makes recovery harder if the crowd becomes unhappy.
Protect satisfaction while education rises
Because the sequel’s relationship between education and satisfaction is undocumented, treat satisfaction as a live constraint rather than an automatic benefit. Use the indicators that your version exposes and give each change time to settle.
Preserve movement and access
Educational objects should not narrow a busy route, create a dead end or block an exhibit entrance. If guests bunch up after an installation, restore space before adding another learning feature. A clear path is a prerequisite for any guest to reach an educational interaction.

Keep viewing areas usable
Place education beside, rather than directly across, the principal sight line unless the game’s placement preview shows that the object is intended to occupy that position. A technically covered exhibit can still perform poorly if visitors cannot see the animals or cannot stop safely.
Watch local satisfaction, not only the zoo average
An overall score can hide a problem at one popular exhibit. Compare the affected area’s guest feedback with the zoo-wide value. If the game offers an alert, thought bubble or location marker, follow it to the exact source before redesigning unrelated sections.
Avoid spending on unverified capacity
The original game connected education with a desire-to-spend multiplier after Update 1.2, but that benefit is not confirmed for Planet Zoo 2. Do not take on a large construction or operating cost on the assumption that a sequel multiplier exists. First establish that the feature changes a visible education result in your build.

When starting from a clean layout, use a short test zone before rolling the design across the park.
- Build one exhibit and one normal guest route. Leave room for guests to stop without blocking through traffic.
- Record the initial education and satisfaction readings. Capture the same information you would record in an established zoo.
- Add one educational element. Use the game’s placement preview and any coverage or access feedback.
- Run the simulation through comparable traffic. Record whether learning, satisfaction, attendance and complaints change.
- Test a second position rather than a second object. Repositioning reveals whether location, not quantity, is the limiting factor.
- Save the result as a template only after it is stable. A layout that works in a quiet test may behave differently at a crowded entrance.
This approach produces a local rule for your version of Planet Zoo 2 without pretending that a launch announcement supplied a universal formula.

Common mistakes to avoid
Copying original menu directions verbatim
Update 1.2 documented a Guest Education management screen and an education heat map for the original game. Planet Zoo 2 may rename, relocate or omit those tools. Use the sequel’s current labels and help text.
Assuming separation means zero interaction
The original separation of education and happiness does not establish that every education-related placement is harmless. A blocked path or poor viewing area can still reduce satisfaction even if the numerical education category is separate.
Using a single screenshot as proof
One reading cannot distinguish a real effect from changing attendance, time of day or ordinary simulation variation. Repeat a controlled observation before expanding a design.
Adding equipment until a score moves
More objects can increase overlap, clutter, operating costs or congestion. Diagnose coverage and access first, then add only what the game identifies as useful.

Turning an announcement into a mechanic guide
The sequel announcement establishes that educational opportunities are part of the feature overview. It does not publish a calculation, threshold, multiplier or guaranteed interface. Keep those details provisional until Frontier documents them or the game itself displays them.
How to verify changes after patches
Interface labels and calculations can change after launch. When an update arrives, reread the in-game help for education and guests, inspect any changed tooltips, and repeat the small test rather than assuming the previous result still applies.
