In EA SPORTS FC 26, the current route to the competition many players still call “Weekend League” is through Division Rivals. Earn Champions Qualification Points (CQP), reach Division 6, and meet the CQP amount shown in Ultimate Team. FC 26 removes the Champions Play-Offs stage, so you should not follow older instructions about qualifying through Play-Offs or redeeming a Finals Qualification Token.
If you are in Division 7 or below, EA provides Challengers, a separate competition with its own format and rewards. The exact live points requirement, event availability and detailed Challengers schedule should be checked on the qualification and event panels in your game.

What “Weekend League” means in FC 26
“Weekend League” and “FUT Champs” remain common player terms for the competitive Champions event in Ultimate Team. In the official FC 26 interface and launch material, the relevant names are Champions and, for lower divisions, Challengers.
The most important change is structural: EA’s FC 26 launch update says Champions Play-Offs have been removed. You do not first enter a Play-Offs tournament and then exchange a token for Finals. Your qualification is tied directly to Rivals progress, Champions Qualification Points and your division.

EA’s FC 26 overview is available on the official EA SPORTS FC 26 game page. For the rule change itself, use EA’s FC 26 launch update rather than an older generic support explanation.
The current FC 26 qualification route at a glance
- Open Ultimate Team and enter Division Rivals.
- Play Rivals matches to earn Champions Qualification Points.
- Progress to Division 6. EA states that CQP can be earned from Division 7 and that reaching Division 6 with enough points qualifies you automatically for Champions.
- Use the in-game Champions qualification display to check the active CQP requirement. FC 26’s official launch update does not publish one universal numeric threshold.
- When the Champions entry prompt appears, follow that prompt to enter the available event.
- If you are still in Division 7 or below, open the Challengers panel instead; it is the lower-division alternative with a separate format and reward structure.
That is the complete current path. A points total copied from an older guide is not a reliable substitute for the number displayed in your own FC 26 Ultimate Team menu.
Step 1: Earn Champions Qualification Points in Division Rivals
Open the correct mode
From Ultimate Team, choose Division Rivals. CQP is associated with this competitive progression route, not with simply owning the game, opening Ultimate Team or playing an unrelated mode. If the Champions panel shows a progress bar or point counter, use it as your primary status indicator.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesPlay Rivals matches and monitor the counter
Complete Rivals matches and check the Champions qualification display after your results have been processed. The useful question is not “How many points did an old guide say?” but “What amount does FC 26 currently show as required for this event?” Requirements can be presented by the live game interface, while the launch notes explain the overall route rather than giving a permanent number.
EA’s launch update specifically identifies CQP as available from Division 7. That makes Division 7 the practical starting point for the FC 26 route described here. Continue playing Rivals while watching both your division and CQP progress.
Do not confuse CQP with Rivals rewards or Champions rank
There are several progress systems in Ultimate Team. Rivals progression determines your division; CQP tracks qualification; and Champions ranks are earned after you are in the event. A reward, win total or rank displayed inside Champions is not automatically a qualification requirement.
- Division: your Rivals placement, which determines whether the Champions route or Challengers is relevant.
- CQP: the qualification currency or counter used for the Champions entry condition.
- Champions rank: your result inside the event after you have entered it.
Understanding the qualification display
The qualification panel is more useful than a remembered number because it combines the live requirement with your account’s current status. Read the division shown on the Rivals screen, then open the Champions tile and note whether it reports progress, eligibility or an entry action. A progress counter tells you how much CQP you have; an eligibility message tells you whether the division and points conditions have been met; and an entry button indicates that an event can be joined.
Take a screenshot or note the requirement if you are comparing progress between sessions, but do not assume that a value from one event cycle will remain the same forever. EA’s launch update explains the route without publishing a universal threshold, and it does not establish a permanent event calendar. The live panel therefore answers two separate questions: whether you qualify and whether an event is currently open.
Step 2: Reach Division 6
FC 26 ties automatic Champions qualification to Division 6 and the required CQP amount. Reaching Division 6 by itself is not the whole condition if the qualification display still shows that you are short of the active points requirement. Likewise, having points without reaching the required division does not replace the division condition described by EA.

Check both conditions in Ultimate Team
Use the Rivals screen to confirm your division, then open the Champions qualification panel to confirm your CQP total and status. The game should identify whether you are progressing toward qualification, already qualified or directed to an available event. Treat the status shown there as authoritative for the current event cycle.
Planning the move from Division 7
Players beginning in Division 7 can earn CQP while working toward Division 6. The route is therefore not a choice between collecting points and climbing divisions; you need to monitor both at the same time. After each Rivals result, check whether your division changed and whether the CQP counter updated. If you remain in Division 7, Challengers may be the available competition even when you have accumulated some CQP.
Why no fixed points number is listed here
The FC 26 launch update confirms the CQP route and the Division 6 automatic-qualification condition, but it does not state a universal numeric threshold. Publishing a single number would risk giving you an outdated or incorrect requirement. If the number changes with an event, season or live rules update, the in-game display is the place where that active amount is exposed.
Step 3: Enter Champions after automatic qualification
Once FC 26 shows that you have reached Division 6 and satisfied the displayed CQP condition, use the entry prompt in Ultimate Team. Select the available Champions event and follow the confirmation screens. The precise button labels can vary with the active event presentation, so use the prompt attached to the qualification status rather than a menu path copied from an older version.
Qualification is not the same as an active event window
Being qualified and being able to start matches are related but separate states. Qualification establishes your eligibility; the event panel determines whether the relevant competition is currently available for entry. If no event prompt appears, inspect the Champions tile, read any date or availability message and follow the live instructions shown there. The FC 26 launch information does not establish a universal match schedule or a permanent start time.
What purchasing the game does and does not do
Owning EA SPORTS FC 26 gives you access to the game and its Ultimate Team mode subject to the platform and account requirements, but buying the game does not grant Champions qualification. You still have to satisfy the Rivals, CQP and Division 6 conditions shown in Ultimate Team. The route described by EA does not require a special controller, guide, replacement part or other accessory.

EA describes Challengers as a separate version of Champions for players in Division 7 and lower. It has its own format and rewards, so it should not be treated as a failed Champions Play-Offs attempt or as an informal practice mode.
| Competition | Division context | How to find it | Format and rewards |
|---|---|---|---|
| Champions | Players who meet the Division 6 and CQP conditions | Use the Champions qualification and entry panel in Ultimate Team | Champions event with 15 rank tiers in FC 26; rewards are granted for every win, with milestone tiers at 12 and 14 wins |
| Challengers | Division 7 or below | Check the Challengers panel in Ultimate Team | Separate format and rewards; the retrieved official material does not specify a universal current match count or schedule |
If your account remains in Division 7 or lower, look for the Challengers option rather than expecting the Division 6 Champions entry state. If you later progress to Division 6 and satisfy the displayed CQP requirement, reassess the Champions panel for the automatic qualification status.
How to compare the two options
The key comparison is eligibility, not prestige. Champions is for the account state EA describes at Division 6 with enough CQP; Challengers is the lower-division competition for Division 7 and below. They also have separate formats and rewards. Since EA has not established a universal current Challengers match count or schedule in the launch information, use the in-game panel for those details instead of assuming that Challengers mirrors Champions.

How Champions ranks and wins work in FC 26
Qualification gets you into the event; it does not determine your final rank. EA’s FC 26 launch update expands Champions from 10 rank tiers to 15. Rewards are granted for every win, and EA identifies milestone tiers at 12 wins and 14 wins.
- 15 rank tiers: the FC 26 Champions progression ladder is broader than the previous 10-tier structure.
- Every win matters: EA says rewards are granted for each win, not only at the final milestone.
- 12- and 14-win milestones: these are rank and reward milestones inside Champions, not the number of wins or points required to qualify.
Do not use the 12-win or 14-win figures as an entry target. They describe achievement milestones after you have entered Champions. Your entry decision is based on the qualification status, division and CQP requirement shown before the event.
Why older Play-Offs guides can send you the wrong way
Some EA Help material still describes a sequence in which Play-Offs are the first stage, a player earns a Finals Qualification Token and that token is redeemed for Finals. The current generic support page is available at EA Help’s Ultimate Team Champions article.
That sequence conflicts with the FC 26-specific launch update, which explicitly says Champions Play-Offs have been removed. For FC 26, prioritize the version-specific launch information and the live status shown in your game. Do not search for a Play-Offs bracket or a Finals token if the FC 26 interface has qualified you directly.
How to recognize legacy instructions
- The instructions tell you to earn a Play-Offs entry first.
- They say you must complete Play-Offs before reaching Finals.
- They ask you to redeem or hold a Finals Qualification Token.
- They describe a 10-rank Champions structure without accounting for FC 26’s 15 tiers.
Those details may describe an earlier ruleset or a generic help flow. They should not override the FC 26 launch update and the active qualification message on your account.

The documented route requires the game, access to Ultimate Team, Division Rivals participation, enough CQP and the Division 6 condition for Champions. Buying a particular edition or owning a physical copy does not bypass those gameplay conditions. The official material does not establish a separate qualification fee, a required accessory or a guaranteed event schedule, so avoid treating any paid add-on as an entry requirement.
Event availability is another practical limitation. You can be eligible without having an open competition to start immediately. Read the date, countdown or availability notice on the Champions tile, and return to that panel when the event is listed as open. Do not infer a fixed weekly window from the familiar “Weekend League” nickname.
Troubleshooting: when qualification is not appearing
You are playing matches but CQP is not changing
- Confirm that the matches are in Division Rivals, the mode EA identifies for earning CQP.
- Return to the Champions qualification panel after the match result is recorded and check whether the counter has refreshed.
- Read the current status message rather than relying on a third-party points number.
- If the panel still does not reflect the result, use the support route available for your platform and account after checking the in-game requirements.
You reached Division 6 but the game does not say qualified
Check whether the displayed CQP amount has also been met. FC 26’s condition is not simply “reach Division 6”; EA describes automatic qualification when the player reaches Division 6 and has enough CQP. If the counter is short, continue the Rivals route. If both conditions appear complete, reopen the Champions panel and follow the exact status prompt presented there.
The game shows Challengers instead of Champions
That is expected while your account is in Division 7 or below. EA positions Challengers as the lower-division alternative. Read its own event panel for the currently available format and rewards, because those details are separate from Champions.

You cannot find a Play-Offs tile
For FC 26, the absence of a Play-Offs tile is consistent with EA’s stated removal of Champions Play-Offs. Follow the direct Rivals-to-Champions route instead of trying to locate a legacy bracket or token redemption screen.
The event is not available when you are qualified
Qualification does not establish a permanent open match window. Check the Champions tile for the event’s current availability and any entry prompt. The launch update confirms the qualification route but does not publish a universal schedule, so use the live event information in Ultimate Team.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.FC 26 versus later-version information
Rules in EA SPORTS FC are version-specific. EA’s FC 27 launch announcement discusses a later game and should not be merged into FC 26 instructions. For this question, use the FC 26 launch update and the current FC 26 interface. If a future patch changes divisions, CQP or event names, the updated version-specific notes and your in-game qualification display should take precedence.
The FC 26 game page remains the appropriate starting point for identifying the game and mode, while the launch update is the source for the Play-Offs removal, Division 6 automatic qualification, Challengers and the 15-tier Champions structure.
A practical pre-entry checklist
- You are in Ultimate Team.
- You are checking Division Rivals progress, not another Ultimate Team mode.
- Your current division is visible and has reached Division 6, if you are pursuing Champions.
- Your CQP total and the active required amount are visible in the Champions qualification display.
- The game indicates that you are automatically qualified or presents an entry prompt.
- You are using the current event panel, not instructions requiring Play-Offs or a Finals Qualification Token.
- If you are in Division 7 or lower, you have checked Challengers.
- You have separated entry requirements from Champions performance milestones such as 12 and 14 wins.
Frequently asked questions
How many Champions Qualification Points do I need?
FC 26’s launch update does not publish one universal number. Open the Champions qualification display in Ultimate Team and use the active amount shown there. A number from an older guide may not match the current event or rules.
Can I qualify through Champions Play-Offs in FC 26?
No. EA’s FC 26 launch update says Champions Play-Offs have been removed. The FC 26 route is Division Rivals, CQP and the Division 6 condition, followed by the in-game entry prompt.
Do I need to redeem a Finals Qualification Token?
Not for the FC 26 route described by EA. Instructions involving a Finals token belong to an older or generic help flow that conflicts with the FC 26-specific change.
What if I am in Division 7?
EA identifies Challengers for Division 7 and below. Open that panel to see its separate format and rewards. Continue Rivals progress toward Division 6 if you want the Champions route.

EA describes automatic qualification when you reach Division 6 and have enough CQP. Confirm both your division and the displayed points status before entering.
Best Value
Are 12 wins or 14 wins needed to enter?
No. Those are Champions rank and reward milestones after entry. FC 26 has 15 rank tiers, with milestones at 12 and 14 wins; they are not qualification thresholds.
Why is Champions unavailable after I qualified?
You may be qualified while the event is outside its active entry window. Check the Champions tile for the current date, availability message and entry prompt. The launch update does not establish a permanent schedule.
Does buying EA SPORTS FC 26 automatically unlock Champions?
No. Buying the game provides access subject to platform and account requirements, but qualification still depends on Rivals progress, CQP and the Division 6 condition shown in Ultimate Team.
