Keep the factory-installed inner-screen film
Samsung says the fitted layer is designed for its foldable main display and advises users not to remove it or apply unapproved films. Removing or replacing it with a non-official film can cause touch abnormalities or screen damage, according to Samsung UK. Samsung US also warns against attaching adhesive accessories such as protectors or stickers to the main screen in its foldable-phone care guidance.

The preinstalled film is the screen’s intended protective layer; it is not an invitation to stack another protector on top. Samsung Levant similarly warns against third-party films and stickers, citing possible distortion or damage (Samsung Levant).
Handle the open display gently
- Do not touch or press the display with pens, fingernails, or other hard or sharp objects.
- Avoid pressing hard near the crease.
- When the phone is open, keep it away from objects that could scratch or puncture the display. Fold it before putting it away if the open screen might be exposed.
These precautions are included in Samsung’s foldable-phone care guidance and the Galaxy Z Fold6 EU English user guide.

Check between the screens before folding
Make sure the inner screen is clear before closing the phone. Samsung’s Fold6 guide specifically names cards, coins, keys, and an S Pen as examples of objects that should not be left between the screens. Even a small trapped item can put pressure on the display when the phone folds.
Get replacement help from Samsung-authorized service
If the factory film is damaged, lifting, or otherwise needs replacement, contact Samsung support or an authorized service center for your exact Fold model and location. Samsung says specialist application is required and directs customers to authorized service rather than recommending that users replace the film themselves. Availability and terms vary by country.

Samsung’s US service page, accessed October 4, 2026, lists one no-charge application within the first 12 months for eligible devices purchased in the US through a Samsung-authorized retailer, then $19.99 for subsequent applications. These are US-specific terms, not a universal price or entitlement; check the current local service page for eligibility and locations (Samsung US screen protector application service).

Samsung UK says touch sensitivity may no longer match the film configuration after removal and advises turning off Touch sensitivity under Settings > Display. Contact Samsung for advice specific to your model before making other changes or fitting another film.

Should you buy an aftermarket inner-screen protector?
The Samsung guidance cited here does not verify a particular third-party inner-screen film as compatible. Because Samsung warns against unapproved films and recommends its own service route for replacement, the supported choice is to keep the factory film or ask an authorized service center to replace it. An exterior case may help protect the folded phone, but it does not replace the inner-screen film.
