Being live continuously does not, by itself, guarantee discovery or growth.
Make the live destination easy to find
Start with durable links and clear channel information. A continuous broadcast has no single launch moment, so viewers should be able to find the current watch page whenever they encounter your channel.

- Put the stream link in your channel description and on relevant pages of your website.
- Make the live destination visible from your channel home, and use the banner or channel description to explain what the stream offers.
- Describe the programming and its rhythm accurately. YouTube recommends communicating a consistent, sustainable schedule and showcasing it on the channel banner: YouTube’s streaming tips.
- Connect your social accounts and embed the watch URL on your website where it fits. YouTube also suggests sharing links with blogs that may want to display the content. Prioritize outlets whose audiences have a genuine reason to watch.
These placements provide paths to the stream; they do not ensure that YouTube will recommend it. YouTube’s promotion guidance is aimed at live events, so apply its event-specific advice to scheduled segments or occasional special programming around the continuous feed.

Give viewers a reason to arrive at a particular time
A continuous stream is always available, but a scheduled segment gives people a specific reason to show up. Consider programming a recurring feature, guest appearance, discussion, or other special moment, then promote that event as its own entry point rather than relying only on a generic “we’re live” post.

Schedule an event around the stream
A scheduled stream creates an upcoming watch page that can appear in subscribers’ feeds. Viewers can choose “Notify me,” and YouTube says viewers may also opt into notifications for scheduled streams while watching Shorts if the stream begins within 24 hours. Share the link at least 48 hours before the event, as YouTube recommends, and include what is happening and why it may interest the audience: YouTube’s live-streaming promotion guidance.
You can add a trailer to a scheduled stream’s watch page only if the channel has more than 1,000 subscribers and no Community Guidelines strikes. The trailer must be 15 seconds to 3 minutes long and meet YouTube’s content and rights rules. If you do not meet those conditions, promote the event with a separate teaser or post instead: YouTube’s event guidance.
Use posts tied to a real moment
When you share an update, name the topic, guest, recurring segment, or useful context. A specific invitation helps a potential viewer understand why to click now; repeating the same unadorned live link gives them little context. This is a practical editorial approach, not a quantified YouTube rule.
Turn the broadcast into clips people can discover
Do not treat the continuous runtime as your only promotional asset. Pick moments that stand on their own, publish them as clips or highlights with clear titles and thumbnails, and organize related clips and public archives into playlists. A clip can explain the value of the channel to someone who has never encountered the live page.

- Choose a useful, entertaining, or distinctive moment that makes sense without requiring the viewer to watch hours of the stream first.
- Give the clip a title and thumbnail that accurately convey what happens or what the viewer will learn.
- Add a clear invitation and link to the live page when it is relevant, explaining what is live and why someone might want to continue watching.
- Group related clips and public archives into playlists so viewers can explore a topic or format.
YouTube recommends creating highlight clips during an event. It says archives are uploaded by default after a stream, and making archives public can increase reach; organizing archives and clips into playlists can help present the material: YouTube’s live-streaming promotion guidance.
Automatic Short highlights are not a general feature for any 24/7 feed. YouTube’s stated eligibility criteria include a vertical stream made with the YouTube mobile app, a duration of 10 minutes to 12 hours, chat enabled, not marked Made for Kids, not a screencast, and compliance with safety standards. For an encoder-based continuous stream, plan on making manual clips or separate uploads rather than expecting automatic Shorts.
Distribute the link where it is relevant
Use owned and community spaces to reach people who are likely to care about the stream: your channel pages, website, newsletter, and social profiles. YouTube recommends connecting social accounts, embedding the watch URL on a website, and sharing links with blogs that may want to feature the content: YouTube’s promotion guidance.
- Share a clip or event link with a short explanation of its relevance to that audience.
- Ask a relevant site or creator to feature the stream only when there is a natural topical fit.
- Use a scheduled event link for a time-specific segment and the persistent live link for ongoing viewing.
For events that end, Live Redirect can send viewers to a Premiere or another live stream. The channel sending the redirect must have more than 1,000 subscribers and no Community Guidelines strikes. Redirecting viewers to another channel’s live stream also requires that channel’s permission. YouTube recommends allowing other streamers to redirect to your channel where appropriate. This is an event collaboration tool, not a way to funnel viewers continuously into a 24/7 stream: YouTube Live Redirect requirements.

Measure what brings viewers and refine it
Use live analytics to examine the path from exposure to viewing. YouTube provides impressions, impressions click-through rate, views, average view duration, traffic sources, and search terms. Impressions and click-through rate can help you assess whether packaging is attracting clicks; views and average view duration show what happens after people arrive. Traffic sources and search terms can reveal how viewers found the stream and where packaging or distribution may need attention: YouTube Analytics guidance.
- Compare like formats with like formats; YouTube cautions that audience behavior differs across content formats.
- For a 24/7 channel, compare periods and programming moments instead of treating the entire continuous runtime as one homogeneous campaign.
- Note which clips or scheduled segments send viewers to the live page, which sources bring people who stay, and which topics recur in search terms.
These metrics can guide decisions, but they do not establish that a particular tactic caused growth or guarantee a specific result.
