1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsThe quickest way to advance in Headless Knight: Idle RPG is to stop treating every run as a stage push. Use a fast repeatable stage when you need gold and experience, switch to a push setup when you are testing your limit, and spend each resource on the stat or system currently stopping progress. A practical early plan is to prioritize weapon summons until you obtain a System-quality (red) sword, use gold upgrades in a damage-first order, equip resource-boosting companions, and clear each dungeon as far as possible before spending tickets. The exact balance can change, so verify the live game’s tooltips and costs before committing scarce materials.
Headless Knight: Idle RPG is an auto-battling placement RPG for iPhone and iPad. Companions fight automatically, while equipment has its own skills and attributes and weapons and armor can be synthesized and enhanced. The App Store listing also describes arenas, daily tasks, dungeons, collection, character development and guild content. That automation makes resource allocation more important than constant tapping: a good farming stage and upgrade plan continue earning while you are away, whereas an inefficient setup can consume time and tickets without moving your account forward.

The priorities below combine the game’s published feature description with the beginner recommendations in Amir Shiraz’s Headless Knight Beginner Guide: Tier List, Companion, Equipment, & More, published by Clashiverse on December 25, 2023. That guide is community advice, not an official balance document. Its exact stat order and percentages may no longer be optimal after updates, so use them as a starting framework and compare every expensive decision with the current in-game requirement.
Choose the job for this session: farming or pushing
Every session should have one purpose. Farming means repeating a stage you can clear quickly and reliably for gold and experience. Pushing means using your available resources to reach the highest stage you can, increasing the quality of later rewards. Mixing the two goals often produces a weak compromise: a stage that is too difficult to farm wastes time, while a farming build may leave damage or accuracy on the table during a push.

| Goal | Run selection | What to optimize | When to switch |
|---|---|---|---|
| Farm | The fastest stage you can repeat consistently | Gold, experience, clear speed and resource bonuses | When your stockpile is large enough for the next upgrade or a push attempt |
| Push | Your highest unfinished or newly available stage | Damage, survival, attack speed, critical output, suppression and hit as needed | When a failed attempt identifies a specific bottleneck, or when further attempts consume resources without progress |
Shiraz’s guide describes an ideal fast farming clear as approximately five seconds. Treat that as the guide’s target, not a universal requirement: your device, character, equipment and current balance may produce a different best time. The useful test is whether the stage is both fast and stable. A slightly slower stage that never fails can generate more resources over an hour than a faster stage with occasional deaths or stalled waves.
Talent points can be reset, according to the guide. Use that flexibility deliberately: keep a farming arrangement for routine resource collection and a pushing arrangement for progression attempts. Before changing talents, note which stats your current character already has from equipment and companions; a recommendation that assumes low critical stats can be wasteful on a character that already has strong critical chance or damage.
What do I buy with gold?
For a new account, the guide’s default gold order is Enhance Attack, Enhance Defense, Critical hit rate, Critical hit damage, Enhance HP, Suppression, then Hit. This is an ordering principle rather than a command to buy one stat forever. Upgrade costs rise, and the best purchase changes when a stage stops failing for the same reason.
| Order | Gold upgrade | Reason to start here | Reconsider when |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Enhance Attack | More damage shortens ordinary clears and helps farming pay for later upgrades. | Damage is already sufficient but enemies survive because of a defensive or accuracy check. |
| 2 | Enhance Defense | Prevents routine deaths while your offense is still developing. | You clear safely and the next failure is a damage or timing issue. |
| 3 | Critical hit rate | Improves how often critical effects occur. | Your character’s existing gear and talents already provide substantial critical chance. |
| 4 | Critical hit damage | Makes successful critical hits more valuable after you have a reasonable chance to land them. | Critical hits are rare enough that additional critical damage has little practical effect. |
| 5 | Enhance HP | Adds another survival layer for stages where defense alone is not enough. | You are surviving comfortably and a hit, suppression or damage gate is the actual blocker. |
| 6 | Suppression | Improves progression once enemy resistance or suppression checks begin limiting output. | Move it earlier as soon as the current stage shows suppression is preventing advancement. |
| 7 | Hit | Useful when attacks fail to connect reliably against later enemies. | Move it earlier when misses, rather than low damage, explain failed attempts. |
The important exception is the last two entries. Shiraz specifically says suppression and hit should move to the front when either becomes the progression bottleneck. Do not wait for a fixed stage number or copy another player’s breakpoint; inspect the battle result, enemy information and current upgrade screen. If you are dealing adequate damage to enemies you can hit but are being stopped by suppression, buy suppression. If attacks are missing, hit has priority even though it appears seventh in the beginner order.

Keep enough gold for the upgrade that addresses the next test rather than spending every coin immediately on the cheapest available node. After a farming session, compare the cost of the next attack, defense, critical, HP, suppression and hit levels. Buying a low-impact upgrade simply because it is affordable can delay the one that changes your clear result.
What do I spend my Talent points on?
Talents should reflect the job of the current setup. The guide gives separate beginner orders for farming and pushing, and it warns that the best order depends on the character’s existing critical statistics.
Farming talent order
For a resource setup, the guide starts with gold-drop and experience-drop bonuses, then moves to attack and movement speed, followed by treasure-chest drop rate and damage statistics. The logic is cumulative: resource bonuses increase the value of every repeat, while speed reduces the time required to complete those repeats. Damage should still be added when it is the difference between a clean clear and a stalled one.
Pushing talent order
For a stage-pushing setup, the guide emphasizes attack speed, movement speed, super-critical chance and super-critical damage, and suppression. Attack and movement speed can improve the pace of a difficult attempt; super-critical effects increase burst potential; suppression helps when the stage’s resistance checks limit damage. Use the character’s current critical chance as the deciding context. If the build already has strong critical statistics, a further critical talent may be less valuable than a missing suppression or survival option.

How to change between the two
- Decide whether the next activity is a repeatable resource stage or a highest-stage attempt.
- Reset talents if necessary, then select the resource bonuses for farming or the combat-focused priorities for pushing.
- Run enough attempts to identify the real result: clear speed and stability for farming, or the exact reason for failure while pushing.
- Return to the farming arrangement after the push if you need to rebuild gold and experience.
Because the guide says talents can be reset, there is little reason to leave a push-only arrangement active during a long idle-farming period. Confirm the current reset cost or restriction in your talent interface before making frequent changes; the community guide does not establish whether a later update changed that cost.
How should I spend summons on gear?
Equipment is not a single interchangeable stat bundle. The App Store description says individual equipment pieces have different skills and attributes, and that weapons and armor can be synthesized and enhanced. Read the current item screen before treating a lower-tier bonus as disposable: a skill or attribute that solves your current bottleneck can be worth more than a nominally higher tier that does not.
The weapon-first recommendation
Shiraz recommends directing approximately 70–80% of summons to weapons and 20–30% to armor until you obtain a System-quality (red) sword. This is one guide’s allocation, not an assured optimum or an official drop-rate strategy. The purpose is to establish a strong offensive foundation early. Once that red sword is obtained, the guide recommends bringing armor up to improve suppression rather than continuing to force every summon into weapons.
| Account state | Guide’s suggested summon emphasis | Decision check |
|---|---|---|
| Before a System-quality (red) sword | About 70–80% weapons; 20–30% armor | Confirm that the current weapon pool and summon rules still match the live game. |
| After obtaining the red sword | Increase armor investment to support suppression | Check whether suppression, survival or another displayed requirement is now the limiting factor. |
Do not dismantle or synthesize an item solely because it is not the newest color or tier. First compare its skill, attribute, set or lower-tier bonus with the item you would create and the materials consumed. The published feature description confirms synthesis and enhancement exist, but it does not establish current recipes, guaranteed outcomes or the value of every lower-tier bonus. Those details must come from the live item tooltip.

Use enhancement stones with a plan
Enhancement stones are scarce enough to deserve a purpose. The guide connects them with improving equipment and heads, refining equipment and companions. Concentrate them on the pieces that remain part of your active build and that address the current failure mode. Spreading small amounts across every item can leave the weapon too weak to farm or the armor too fragile to push. Before confirming an enhancement, check the displayed gain, the next material requirement and whether synthesis or replacement would make the investment obsolete.
Which companions help early progress?
For early farming, Shiraz recommends using the strongest unit you have for clearing together with Golden Pig and Dr. Owl. The guide attributes gold and experience bonuses to those two companions and recommends raising each to level 50 for the maximum early bonuses described there.
This lineup separates two jobs: the strongest clear unit handles combat speed, while Golden Pig and Dr. Owl improve the value of each repeat. If a difficult push requires a different combat companion, use that combat lineup for the attempt and return to the resource lineup for farming. The guide’s companion bonuses and level-50 target come from its 2023 advice, so inspect the current companion descriptions to confirm that the bonuses, level cap and unlock conditions are unchanged.
Recommended Free Tools
Favor materials and companion experience should be treated as part of the same progression budget as gold. Leveling a bonus companion too slowly reduces the value of every farming run, but investing in a support companion that does not affect your chosen activity can delay the combat unit needed for a push. Compare the displayed bonus at the next level with the cost and your immediate goal rather than leveling by habit.

How to use dungeons without wasting tickets
The guide’s central dungeon rule is simple: attempt each dungeon to the highest level you can before spending tickets. Higher clears provide more materials, so using tickets at a lower level can reduce the return from the same limited resource. The exact dungeon names and rewards can change; use the current dungeon description as the authority.
| Dungeon purpose identified by the guide | Materials or progress supported | Best practice |
|---|---|---|
| Skill-book dungeon | Protagonist skill upgrades | Test your highest available level first, then spend tickets after deciding which skill upgrade is next. |
| Companion experience dungeon | Companion experience and favor materials | Push the stage before ticket spending so companion-growth resources come from the best clear you can currently achieve. |
| Enhancement-stone dungeon | Equipment and head upgrades, plus refinement support | Use the result on active gear or companions that address the current bottleneck. |
- Open the dungeon and read the current reward and requirement text.
- Attempt the highest unlocked level without spending a ticket if the game allows a free challenge.
- Record whether the failure comes from damage, survival, suppression, hit or a special mechanic.
- Make the smallest upgrade that addresses that failure.
- Retry the level. Only after you have established the highest efficient clear should you spend tickets for additional rewards.
This approach avoids a common trap: using tickets immediately, then discovering that one inexpensive upgrade would have unlocked a materially better reward tier. It also keeps dungeon spending aligned with the next upgrade instead of accumulating materials that you cannot use yet.
A repeatable daily progression loop
The following loop turns the separate recommendations into a routine. It does not require a particular purchase or physical accessory; the App Store lists the game as free with in-app purchases, but the progression decisions here are about in-game resources.

- Inspect the next obstacle. Look at your current stage, the highest dungeon level and the costs shown on the next gold, talent, gear and companion upgrades.
- Run a farming stage. Select the fastest stable stage when you need gold or experience, using the resource-focused talents and companions.
- Buy one or more bottleneck upgrades. Follow the beginner gold order unless the battle result clearly identifies suppression, hit, survival or another requirement as the blocker.
- Test a push. Switch to the pushing talents and combat companions, then attempt the highest useful stage or dungeon level.
- Spend summons deliberately. Follow the weapon-heavy allocation only while it fits your current gear state, and reassess after a System-quality sword or a major equipment change.
- Use dungeon tickets after testing. Push each relevant dungeon first, then spend tickets where the higher clear gives the materials you actually need.
- Return to farming. Once the push stops producing progress, restore the farming setup and rebuild the resource stockpile.
Diagnose the bottleneck instead of guessing
| What you observe | Likely decision | What to check before spending |
|---|---|---|
| You clear safely but enemies take too long to defeat | Attack, attack speed, critical rate or critical damage may be more valuable. | Compare the displayed gain and check whether your character already has high critical statistics. |
| You deal strong damage but die before the wave ends | Defense, HP or defensive equipment enhancement should move ahead of another damage purchase. | Check whether the death is consistent and whether armor has a relevant skill or attribute. |
| Damage appears adequate, but suppression prevents advancement | Move suppression forward in gold upgrades and consider armor investment after the red sword milestone. | Read the stage or enemy requirement; do not assume every account reaches this breakpoint together. |
| Attacks frequently fail to connect | Move hit ahead of the default beginner order. | Confirm that misses, rather than low attack or critical output, are causing the failed clear. |
| Farming is profitable but slow | Use movement speed and attack speed talents where appropriate, and choose a faster stable stage. | Measure repeatable clear time and failure rate, not a single lucky run. |
| A dungeon ticket produces too few materials | Attempt higher dungeon levels before spending the next tickets. | Check the current reward table and whether a small upgrade unlocks the next tier. |
| Gear upgrades consume materials without changing results | Concentrate enhancement stones on active gear and reconsider synthesis before further investment. | Compare the item’s skill, attribute, replacement cost and displayed upgrade gain. |
Common early mistakes
- Using a push build for every idle hour. A difficult stage can look impressive while producing fewer resources than a fast repeatable one.
- Following the gold list mechanically. The guide makes suppression and hit conditional priorities; a visible accuracy or suppression problem overrides the default order.
- Splitting summons evenly. The 70–80% weapon and 20–30% armor recommendation exists to establish an early weapon, then changes after the red sword. It is not a permanent ratio.
- Ignoring equipment skills. The game describes individual skills and attributes, so color or level alone does not tell you which item improves the current build.
- Spending dungeon tickets immediately. A free attempt at a higher level can improve the reward rate for every ticket used afterward.
- Leaving resource companions under-leveled. If Golden Pig and Dr. Owl are part of your farming plan, compare their current bonus with the cost of the next level and work toward the guide’s level-50 target when the live tooltip confirms it.
- Assuming a 2023 guide is a current patch note. Recheck requirements, summon pools, companion effects, dungeon rewards and reset rules in the live client after updates.
How to keep the plan current after an update
Patch changes can alter drop rates, enemy requirements, item skills, summon pools, talent costs or dungeon rewards without changing the broad farming-versus-pushing structure. After a substantial update, verify five things before making a large investment:
- Read the tooltip for each gold stat and confirm which requirement is shown on the stage that stops you.
- Open the summon and equipment screens to confirm the current quality names, weapon and armor pools, synthesis rules and displayed attributes.
- Check Golden Pig and Dr. Owl’s current bonus text and the level at which the bonus stops increasing.
- Read each dungeon’s current reward preview and ticket rules before spending.
- Confirm whether talent resets, enhancement materials or companion favor costs changed.
If the live client contradicts a recommendation in the 2023 guide, follow the live tooltip for the current account and record why the old priority no longer fits. The guide remains useful as a framework for deciding what to test, but it cannot establish post-update balance on its own.
Bottom line
Progress is fastest when every activity has a defined job: farm a stable quick stage for gold and experience, push only after changing to a combat setup, and spend resources on the exact stat or system that caused the last failure. Start with the guide’s attack-to-hit gold order, move suppression or hit forward when the battle proves they are the bottleneck, favor weapons until a System-quality sword before catching armor up, build the resource companions deliberately, and test dungeon levels before using tickets. Treat the numerical recommendations as dated community guidance and let the current game client decide the final purchase.
