The dependable way to print a Samsung text conversation is to capture it as screenshots, then print those image files from the phone or a computer. Samsung’s documented support method uses screenshots because its guidance says direct message printing is unsupported on the Android versions it lists. A screenshot is a visual copy of only what was captured, not a searchable or automatically complete transcript, so long conversations require careful capture and checking.
What Samsung’s documented method actually does
Samsung Customer Service Korea’s article, updated April 5, 2022, explains how to move and print text messages. For Android 12, Android 11, Android 10, Pie, Oreo and Nougat, it describes direct printing of the message thread as unsupported and recommends printing a captured image instead. That is documented guidance for those versions and that regional support page; it does not prove that every later Galaxy software build has exactly the same menus or limitations. Check the current options on your model before relying on a model-specific instruction.

The practical result is a two-stage job:
- Capture the conversation as one or more image files.
- Send those images to a printer from the phone, or copy them to a computer and print them there.
Android Help confirms that screenshots can be printed when an app does not provide its own print command. The printer must be reachable through Wi-Fi or a mobile network, and the labels and location of the print command vary by Android version and app.

Neither route automatically reconstructs every message, attachment or timestamp in a conversation. If completeness matters, treat the screenshots as a visual record and verify the captured range before printing.

Route 1: Capture and print directly from your Galaxy phone
1. Open the exact conversation
Open the messaging app and the conversation you need. If the thread contains photos, videos or files, decide whether you need those items represented as well as the text. A screenshot of the conversation may show a thumbnail or a download marker rather than the attachment itself.
2. Capture each visible section
On most Galaxy phones, press the side key and volume-down key together for a screenshot. Button behavior can differ by model and software, so use your phone’s current screenshot instruction if that shortcut does not work. Scroll to the next section of the thread and repeat until you reach the required date or message.
Do not assume that one screenshot contains the whole exchange. The image includes only the messages visible on screen at that moment. For a long conversation, use an orderly sequence: start at the earliest required message, capture overlapping boundaries when practical, and continue toward the latest message. Overlap makes it easier to detect a missing section later.

3. Check the images before printing
Open the screenshots in Gallery and inspect them in order. Confirm that:
- the sender names or phone numbers are visible where needed;
- dates, times and message status indicators are readable;
- no message is cut off at the top or bottom of an image;
- the first and last required messages are present; and
- attachments, link previews or deleted-message notices are represented as you intend.
Rename or place the files in a dedicated album if that helps keep the sequence clear. Cropping can remove distracting interface elements, but crop only after confirming that you are not removing identifying or timing information that matters to your purpose.

4. Make Android’s print service available
Your printer must accept data over Wi-Fi or a mobile network. Connect the phone and printer to the network required by the printer, then open Android Settings and search for Printing to enable or select an installed print service. The exact settings path depends on the Galaxy model, Android release and printer software.
5. Send a screenshot to the printer
Open a screenshot, tap the app’s Share, More or equivalent menu, and look for Print. Android Help notes that the command’s location depends on the app and Android version. Select the available printer, choose paper size, orientation, color and copies, preview the page if the service provides a preview, and start the job. Repeat for the remaining images, or select multiple screenshots if your gallery and print service support batch printing.
Print one test image first. It lets you check that text is legible and that the printer is using the intended paper orientation before you print a lengthy set.
Route 2: Transfer the screenshots to a computer
1. Copy the image files
Connect the Galaxy phone to the computer and copy the screenshots from the phone’s screenshot folder, or use another transfer method already available to you. Samsung’s support instructions describe moving the captured images to a PC for printing. Keep the original image files rather than sending them through a service that might resize or recompress them.
2. Put the pages in the right order
Sort the files by the sequence in which you captured them. If your computer sorts by filename, add a numeric prefix such as 001, 002 and 003 so the print dialog does not rearrange them unexpectedly. Open the images at full size and check the first and last page again.

3. Print with the computer’s image workflow
Use the operating system’s image-print command or an image editor. Choose a paper size that preserves readable text, set portrait or landscape orientation to match the screenshot, and avoid “fit” settings that shrink the conversation unnecessarily. If the print dialog offers contact sheets or several images per page, use them only if the text remains legible. A single screenshot per page is usually clearer for small phone text.
4. Keep a digital copy
Store the original screenshots separately from edited or resized copies. If you later need to show what was printed, the untouched files preserve the phone’s original pixel dimensions and visible interface details.
What to do when you need a complete, searchable archive
Printing screenshots and exporting a message history are different tasks. Samsung describes Smart Switch PC as a backup and transfer tool. The cited Samsung guidance does not establish that Smart Switch creates a human-readable, paginated transcript or a PDF of an entire conversation. Use it for backup or migration, not as a guaranteed print-export feature.
Samsung also notes that some carrier applications may provide message backup, depending on the carrier and phone model. Check the carrier’s current documentation if you need a structured archive. Availability is not uniform, and a backup format may still require a separate viewer rather than producing pages ready for a printer.
Samsung says Google Messages is available on Galaxy phones and tablets running Android 8.0 or later, and that messages can be transferred or synchronized using Smart Switch or Google Drive. That information does not say that Google Messages exports a conversation directly to a printable document. If your goal is paper, screenshots remain the documented fallback when the app has no print action.

Messaging-app changes can affect the menus you see
The app on your Galaxy may be Samsung Messages, Google Messages or a carrier-provided client. Samsung’s US support page identifies Google Messages as an option on supported Galaxy devices. A separate Samsung US notice says the US market is affected by a Samsung Messages discontinuation: Galaxy S26 and newer devices cannot download Samsung Messages from the Galaxy Store. This is geographically limited and can change, so check the current notice and your device rather than assuming every Galaxy uses the same app.
The capture-and-print principle is app-independent: if the conversation app does not expose a print command, capture the visible conversation and print the resulting images. What changes is the wording of the menus and the location of the screenshot files.

There is no Print option
Use the screenshot’s Share or More menu rather than the conversation screen itself. If no print action appears, verify that an Android print service is enabled and then print from a computer instead. Android’s print support is app- and version-dependent.
The printer is not listed
Confirm that the printer is powered on, connected to the same required network, and able to receive jobs over Wi-Fi or mobile data. Recheck the print service selected in Android Settings. If the printer still does not appear, copy the images to a computer and use the computer’s printer setup.

Print fewer screenshots per sheet, use the screenshot’s original resolution, and choose an orientation that gives the conversation more width. Do not enlarge a compressed copy repeatedly; recopy the original files from the phone if necessary.

A long thread seems to have missing messages
Return to the conversation and capture the missing date range again. Screenshots record only the visible screen, so jumping through a thread or relying on a single scrolling capture can omit content. Compare the first and last message in each image and preserve overlapping boundaries.
An attachment is not readable
Open the attachment separately and capture it at a readable size, then keep that image next to the conversation screenshot. A conversation screenshot may show only a thumbnail, filename or placeholder, and it does not guarantee that the underlying file is included.
Privacy and recordkeeping considerations
Text screenshots can contain phone numbers, profile photos, notification banners and unrelated messages. Review every image before sharing or printing, and crop or redact information that the intended recipient does not need. Keep an unedited original in a protected location if you need to preserve what was captured, and label any edited copy clearly.

The available Samsung guidance does not establish a built-in workflow for producing a full evidentiary transcript. Preserve the original files and obtain advice appropriate to your jurisdiction and purpose when formal proof is required.
The practical answer
For a short Samsung conversation, capture the visible messages, verify the sequence, and use Android’s print command with a network-reachable printer. For a long thread or easier page layout, transfer the screenshots to a computer and print them there. Smart Switch and message synchronization can help with backup or migration, but the documented Samsung material does not promise a direct, searchable print export. The screenshot method is therefore the reliable built-in approach, provided you check its limits before treating the pages as a complete record.
