On an iPhone or iPad: open the page in Safari, take a screenshot, tap its thumbnail, select Full Page, choose Save PDF to Files, then print that PDF from the Files app. On a Mac, use File > Print and adjust the print dialog, or save a PDF first. The exact workflow depends on whether you need a paper copy, an annotated PDF, or a long-page record for later reference.
Print an entire webpage from Safari on iPhone or iPad
Safari’s Full Page capture extends past the visible screen and saves the result as a PDF rather than as a normal image in Photos. Apple describes the feature as a way to “capture content that’s on your iPhone screen, grab a full page beyond the edge of the screen, or save a specific portion.”

- Open the webpage in Safari and wait for the content you need to appear.
- Take a screenshot with your iPhone or iPad’s hardware buttons.
- Tap the screenshot thumbnail that appears in the lower-left corner.
- At the top of the editor, tap Full Page. A scrollable preview shows the page beyond the viewport.
- Review the preview. Use the crop controls or Markup tools if you need to remove material or add notes.
- Tap the save control, choose Save PDF to Files, select a location, and tap Save.
- Open the Files app, locate the PDF, tap Share, choose Print, select an AirPrint printer, set copies and pages, and tap Print.
The PDF may span many printed pages. In the printer options, check paper size, orientation, scale, and page range before confirming.
If “Full Page” is missing
- Make sure the screenshot was taken while the webpage itself was active in Safari, not from the Home screen or another app.
- Some non-web views and embedded documents do not expose Safari’s full-page option. Try opening the page directly in a new Safari tab.
- Very large or dynamically changing pages can produce an incomplete preview. Let images and expandable sections finish loading, then capture again.
Use Safari’s Share and Markup route to create a printable PDF
This method is useful when you want to annotate the page before saving it. Apple’s documented sequence starts: “Go to a webpage, tap the Page Menu button, then tap Share.”

- Open the webpage in Safari.
- Tap the Page Menu button in the address bar, then tap Share.
- Choose Markup.
- Add handwriting, highlights, shapes, or a signature if required.
- Tap Done, then choose Save File To.
- Pick a folder in Files and tap Save.
- In Files, open the PDF, tap Share, select Print, choose the printer, and confirm the paper settings.
Use Full Page when you primarily need an unmodified scrolling capture. Use Share > Markup when annotation is part of the deliverable.
Print a full Safari webpage on a Mac
macOS Safari prints through the system print dialog. It follows normal paper pagination rather than creating one endlessly long physical sheet.
- Open the page in Safari and wait for text, images, and lazy-loaded sections to finish loading.
- Choose File > Print, or press Command-P.
- Choose a physical printer for paper, or open the PDF menu in the dialog and select Save as PDF to create a file first.
- Set the paper size, portrait or landscape orientation, scale, margins, background graphics, and page range.
- Preview the pages for clipped columns, missing backgrounds, or unwanted blank pages.
- Click Print or Save.
Why Mac Safari may print less than you see
Websites can supply print-specific CSS that hides navigation, changes colors, or restructures content. A page can also load additional sections only after you scroll. Scroll through the page once, wait for images to appear, and then print. If a site still omits important material, save a PDF from the print dialog and inspect it before sending it to paper.

Save the webpage for reference instead of printing it
If your goal is preservation rather than a paper copy, choose File > Save As in Safari. Select Web Archive to save webpage graphics and links together, or Page Source to save only the HTML. A Web Archive is a saved webpage, not a printed screenshot and not a PDF; use the print dialog’s PDF option when you need a portable document.

Fix common full-page screenshot and printing problems
The capture stops at the visible screen
On iPhone or iPad, reopen the screenshot editor and select Full Page before saving. If the tab is displaying a PDF, an embedded app, or a restricted view, Safari may not offer a scrolling capture. Open the website URL itself in Safari and retry.
Images or lower sections are blank
Many sites lazy-load images while you scroll. Scroll through the page first, wait for every section to render, and then take the screenshot. A slow connection, script error, or content that appears only after interaction can still prevent a complete capture.

The printout is tiny or columns are cut off
In the print dialog, use landscape orientation for wide tables, reduce or increase scale gradually, and verify the selected paper size. Narrow margins can recover space, while a page range prevents wasting paper on unwanted sections.
Background colors disappear
Enable the print dialog’s background-graphics option when it is available. Some sites intentionally suppress backgrounds in print CSS; in that case, saving a PDF or using a screenshot-based capture preserves the on-screen appearance more reliably.

AirPrint cannot find the printer
Confirm that the iPhone or iPad and printer are on the same local network, that the printer supports AirPrint, and that it is awake. Restarting Wi-Fi on the device and printer can refresh discovery. If the printer is managed by an organization or guest network, its isolation settings may block AirPrint.

Reliability, privacy, and cost considerations
- Check the artifact: Long pages, live dashboards, and pages behind login may change while they load. Confirm the URL, timestamp, page count, and important sections in the PDF before printing.
- Control dynamic content: Use a wait-for-selector, delay, or network-idle condition when capturing an API screenshot so charts and lazy images have time to render.
- Limit unnecessary work: Capture one CSS-selected element or a page range when a full document is not needed. Caching with a chosen TTL can avoid repeated captures of unchanged pages.
- Protect private data: Do not place passwords or sensitive tokens in a public URL. For API workflows, use custom headers, cookies, or Authorization carefully and restrict access to saved files and signed links.
- Budget for paper: A full webpage may consume dozens of sheets. Save and review the PDF first, then print only the required pages or sections.
Frequently asked questions
Can I print a full webpage from my iPhone without a Mac?
Yes. Use Safari’s screenshot, select Full Page, save the PDF to Files, and print it with AirPrint or another printer available through the iOS share sheet.
Does Full Page save a JPG or PNG?
No. Safari’s built-in Full Page workflow saves the scrolling capture as a PDF through Save PDF to Files. A standard screenshot remains an image, but it covers only the visible screen.
Will a Mac print one continuous, extra-long sheet?
Safari’s normal print workflow paginates the page across the selected paper size. The available Apple instructions do not provide a setting that forces an arbitrarily long webpage onto one continuous physical sheet.
What is the difference between a Web Archive and a PDF?
A Web Archive is Safari’s saved webpage package, including graphics and links. A PDF is a page-layout document intended for sharing or printing; choose Save as PDF in the print dialog when that is what you need.
