The official overview describes dogfights, air support for ground troops, and air-to-sea sorties against seaborne threats. These are useful broad categories, not mutually exclusive labels: a sortie may involve more than one target type. Use the actual briefing and in-mission objectives to guide your choice.

Check what is actually available to you
A recommendation is only useful if the aircraft, weapon, and upgrade parts are available at that point in your campaign. Include wingmen in the plan
Aircraft selection is not the only pre-sortie decision. The publisher says players can issue wingmen real-time attack and cover commands. Consider how you will use those commands alongside your own objective: they are part of the tactical picture, not a substitute for choosing a suitable aircraft and weapon.
Account for weather and large targets when they appear
The official systems walkthrough says dynamic weather affects gameplay and describes colossal targets that can be attacked outside designated target zones. Destroying them can trigger wreckage chain reactions against nearby targets. Because the publisher’s page does not tie a particular weather condition or superweapon to a named campaign mission, treat these as mechanics to respond to when encountered—not as a reason to assign a speculative loadout to a specific sortie.

A practical pre-sortie checklist
- Read the briefing. Identify the stated objective, threats, target types, time limits, and any phases or constraints presented.
- Choose the aircraft. Match its role and handling to the objective and your flying style.
- Select a compatible special weapon. Check the target mix and verify that the weapon is equippable on your aircraft.
- Review upgrades and unlocks. Use the parts you have, and note whether a suggested build assumes optional content.
- Plan wingman commands. Decide when attack or cover orders would support your objective.
- Reassess in the mission. Respond to actual targets, changing phases, weather, or large-target mechanics rather than following a build recommendation that does not fit what unfolds.
What a trustworthy mission-by-mission guide needs
A genuinely specific guide should be checked against the current game version. For each named sortie, it should identify the campaign position and objective, record the target mix and any timed or changing phases, and verify aircraft and weapon availability at that point. It should also disclose assumed upgrade parts and optional content, then give a baseline loadout and a tested alternative where evidence supports both.
Bandai Namco’s published pages explain the preparation approach but do not provide the complete sortie list, mission-specific builds, comparative aircraft statistics, or a dated balance-patch history. Therefore, no specific “best aircraft” or “best weapon” recommendation for every mission can be presented as publisher-confirmed from those sources.
