Crashes, No Sound, or Screen Glitches?
Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minuteWindows Errors? Fix Them Before They Spread
Repair common Windows errors and clear accumulated junk for a smoother, more stable PC - no reinstall needed.Free scan · no reinstallPrepare a typhoon plan before a warning: agree on contacts and roles, assemble household supplies, protect the home, and decide how you will reach a safer place if officials advise evacuation or your home is vulnerable. In the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands (CNMI), shelter openings, transport and safety instructions change by storm and island, so use current CNMI announcements—not an old shelter list—to make the final decision.
Build a household plan before a typhoon is approaching
Write the plan down and make sure everyone in the household knows where to find it. Include people who may be away at work, school or elsewhere when conditions change.

Set contacts, roles and a reunion plan
- List household members’ phone numbers and an out-of-area contact, if feasible. Keep a written copy in case phones or networks are unavailable.
- Assign practical roles, such as checking official updates, securing outdoor items, gathering documents, and helping children or relatives who need assistance.
- Agree on where household members will reunite if separated. Do not rely on one communications method; a phone or network connection may not work during an outage.
- Identify relatives or neighbors who may need a check-in, and decide who will contact them and how.
Choose a safer destination and route
Consider whether your home could be exposed to flooding or other hazards and identify a safer destination in advance. A public shelter is not a permanent option: locations, opening status, transportation and entry arrangements are announced for each event. Plan how you will check the current notice and what you will do if someone in your household needs transportation or extra assistance.

What to put in a typhoon emergency kit
CNMI preparation guidance names first-aid supplies, batteries, flashlights, toiletries and a portable stove, and advises households to store food and water. Gather supplies while there is time; the sources do not establish one universal quantity or duration for every household.
- First-aid supplies, batteries and flashlights.
- Food and water, plus a portable stove if appropriate for your household.
- Toiletries and sanitation items.
- Prescription medicines and any essential medical or mobility equipment.
- Infant-care or elder-care items, as needed.
- Pet food and supplies if you have pets.
- Phone charging options suited to your household’s devices.
The additional medical, mobility, care, pet and charging items are practical household-planning suggestions, not a CNMI-mandated universal kit list. Adapt the kit to the people who will rely on it.
Protect important records
Place copies of important records—such as birth certificates, tax records and insurance documents—in a weather-proof bag or waterproof document pouch. Keep originals and copies securely. CNMI preparation advice specifically calls for protecting important records.

Prepare your home and equipment
CNMI Governor and HSEM guidance advises residents to secure loose outdoor belongings, clear drainage in flood-prone areas, prepare shutters, fuel vehicles and generators, and stock household food and water. Do the work early enough to avoid taking unnecessary risks as conditions worsen.
- Secure or bring in loose outdoor items.
- Clear nearby drains where flooding is a concern, but only while it is safe to do so.
- Prepare shutters and know how they are closed or secured.
- Fuel vehicles and obtain generator fuel early if safe and available.
- Protect important records and keep household supplies together.
Never operate a generator indoors or in a garage. In its April 2026 Sinlaku bulletin, CNMI utilities guidance advised operating generators at least 20 feet from structures and using a properly installed transfer switch. Treat those details as event-specific guidance and follow the current Commonwealth Utilities Corporation (CUC) instructions for the next storm. Check current notices for water precautions as well.
What to do when a typhoon is approaching
- Check official updates. Monitor the CNMI Governor/JIC, CNMI HSEM and National Weather Service Guam (NWS Guam). Storm movement, strength and projected path can change; use a recent bulletin, not a stale forecast.
- Follow the current local instructions. Typhoon condition declarations are time-sensitive. For example, CNMI’s April 2026 bulletin defined Condition III as typhoon conditions, including winds of 74 mph or more, possible within 48 hours; Condition I meant damaging winds of 74 mph or more expected within 12 hours or less. These are alert definitions from that bulletin, not a substitute for current official instructions or an independent safety test.
- Finish preparations while safe. Secure shutters and loose items, clear drainage if conditions permit, and fuel vehicles and generators early if safe and available.
- Make the evacuation decision from the active notice and your situation. If authorities advise evacuation, follow current route and shelter instructions. Leave in time to accommodate household members who need transport or extra assistance; do not assume a past shelter or phone number is still active.
Do not walk, swim, or drive through flood waters. Turn Around. Don’t Drown. This wording appeared in the CNMI Governor/HSEM Typhoon Sinlaku bulletin of April 11, 2026.

How shelter arrangements work on Saipan, Tinian and Rota
Shelter names and services are event-specific. An April 2026 Sinlaku activation listed Kagman High School, Koblerville Elementary and Marianas High School on Saipan; Tinian Elementary School on Tinian; and Sinapalo Office on Aging (primary) and Dr. Rita Hocog Inos Jr./Sr. High School (secondary) on Rota. The bulletin also described a Saipan Office on Aging option for people with disabilities or medical needs. These were Sinlaku arrangements, not a standing shelter directory. Check the current CNMI announcement for activated locations, island-specific arrangements and transportation before leaving.

Plan for health, accessibility, children and pets
Tell officials or shelter coordinators about medical, disability or access needs when current instructions provide a way to do so. Make a household plan for prescriptions, medical equipment and any assistance needed to travel or enter a shelter. Ask about current arrangements; a past medical or accessibility option does not establish that the same service will be available in another event.
Pet rules can also vary. A 2023 activation notice excluded pets other than certified service animals, while later arrangements may differ. Confirm the active notice before departure and plan for pets if they cannot enter the shelter.

Follow the current shelter’s entry instructions
A 2023 CNMI activation notice asked shelter residents to use the nearest activated location, bring bedding, food and drinks, and show identification. Those were rules for that past activation, not guaranteed requirements for a future one. Check the current notice for what to bring, entry rules and transport details.
Who issues CNMI emergency information?
CNMI HSEM, within the Governor’s office, coordinates territorial emergency-management services. A 2021 HRSA CNMI profile describes the CNMI All-Hazards Emergency Operations Plan as a shared framework for response and initial recovery, and identifies the Commonwealth Healthcare Corporation (CHCC) as the lead agency for health and medical services in the described emergency support structure. The institutional roles do not make that profile an operational shelter directory.
