You can’t schedule one YouTube Premiere for an entire playlist using the documented workflow. Instead, schedule each video as its own Premiere in YouTube Studio, then add those videos to a playlist and arrange them in the order you want. The playlist groups the videos; each Premiere remains a separate scheduled event.
Premiere versus playlist: what each one does
| Feature | Premiere | Playlist |
|---|---|---|
| Purpose | A shared, scheduled viewing event for one new video, with a public watch page and live chat. | A collection that groups videos and lets you set their viewing order. |
| Scheduling | Set up for an individual video in YouTube Studio. | Organizes videos; YouTube’s documented playlist instructions do not describe a playlist-wide Premiere schedule. |
| Playback | Viewers watch together at the scheduled time; they can rewind but cannot skip ahead of the live point. | Videos are presented in the playlist’s order. |
YouTube describes Premieres as a way for creators and viewers to watch a new video together in real time. Its Help pages document per-video Premiere setup and separate playlist controls, so the steps below follow those documented workflows rather than assuming a bulk option.

Schedule each video as a Premiere
- Upload the first video. In YouTube Studio, upload the video and complete its details.
- Choose when it should premiere.
- To start as soon as processing is complete, set the visibility to Public and select Set as instant Premiere.
- To choose a later start, select Schedule, enter the date and time, then select Set as Premiere.
- Set optional countdown details. If available, choose the countdown options you want, then finish scheduling.
- Repeat for every video. Each video needs its own Premiere setup and scheduled time. Check each entry in Studio before moving on.
A Community Guidelines strike can prevent a Premiere from publishing during the applicable penalty period. If that affects a scheduled video, reschedule it for after the freeze period.
Create the playlist and set its order
- Use YouTube’s playlist controls to create a playlist, or open the playlist you want to use.
- Add the videos you scheduled as Premieres.
- Arrange them in the desired order with the playlist controls.
- Open the playlist and check that it contains the right videos in the right sequence.
This step organizes the individual Premiere videos for viewers; it does not combine their separate start times into one event.

Share and prepare each Premiere
Each scheduled Premiere has its own public watch page, which you can share before it starts. YouTube recommends scheduling at least 24 hours ahead so the thumbnail has time to appear in subscribers’ feeds. Encourage viewers to set a reminder; YouTube says reminders are sent about 30 minutes before the event and when it begins.
At the scheduled time, the selected countdown runs and viewers watch together. They can comment or chat and rewind, but cannot advance beyond the live point. After the event, the video remains on your channel as a regular upload, and chat replay is available.

Check format, eligibility, and optional features
- Supported video formats: YouTube’s current Premiere guidance excludes Shorts, 360/VR180 videos, and output above 1080p.
- Trailer eligibility: YouTube says a channel needs more than 1,000 subscribers and no Community Guidelines strikes to use a Premiere trailer. The trailer must be 15 seconds to 3 minutes long, comply with content and rights rules, and cannot be a video that has already premiered.
- Countdown: Countdown themes and lengths can be customized.
- Monetization and chat: Eligible advertising channels may run pre-roll ads during the Premiere; mid-roll and post-roll ads are unavailable during it. Super Chat, Super Stickers, and eligible members-only chat are also options.
Troubleshoot common problems
- You can’t find a playlist-level Premiere control. The documented method is to schedule each video individually, then use playlist controls to group and order them.
- A video is missing from the playlist. Confirm it was added to the intended playlist, then review the playlist’s video list and order.
- The Premiere does not publish as scheduled. Check whether the channel has a Community Guidelines strike and is within a penalty period; if so, schedule the Premiere after that period.
- A format or resolution is rejected. Check that the upload is not a Short or 360/VR180 video and that its output is no higher than 1080p.
- Viewers do not see the thumbnail in subscriptions ahead of time. YouTube recommends scheduling at least 24 hours in advance, then sharing the watch page and asking viewers to set reminders.
