Choose a way to watch YouTube

Open YouTube in the Internet app
Samsung India’s instructions use the refrigerator’s built-in Internet app. The precise labels or layout may differ on another model or in another region.

- Connect Family Hub to Wi-Fi. From the Home screen, open Settings > Connections > Wi-Fi, select your network and enter its password.
- Open the browser. Launch the Internet app and enter
https://www.youtube.comin the address bar. - Start a video. Select a video thumbnail. Samsung lists controls for play or pause, skipping backward or forward, and volume.

Add a YouTube shortcut to Entertainment
If YouTube opens in the browser but you cannot find an icon on the Entertainment screen, Samsung India describes adding the page as a shortcut:

- Open YouTube in the Internet app.
- Choose Add to Home Screen.
- Rename the shortcut if you want, then select Done.
- From Home, swipe left twice to reach Entertainment and look for the YouTube icon.
A shortcut opens the browser page; it is not the same as installing the dedicated YouTube app.
Check whether the dedicated YouTube app is available
Samsung announced on June 26, 2024, that a dedicated YouTube app would be added through a Family Hub software update. Samsung says the software enhancement is available for Family Hub models from 2017 onward, but also notes that content services vary by region and can change. That model boundary does not guarantee the app will appear on every refrigerator in every market.

Check the refrigerator for an available software update, then look for YouTube among its apps. If the app is still absent, use the Internet app or check support information for your model and region. Details are in Samsung’s 2024 Family Hub update announcement.

Smart View is an alternative when the browser or app is inconvenient. Samsung US documents mirroring from supported Samsung TVs and from Samsung phones or tablets. Compatibility depends on the device and model.

From a Samsung phone or tablet
- Connect the phone or tablet and Family Hub to the same Wi-Fi network.
- On the phone or tablet, open Smart View and select Samsung Family Hub.
- Start mirroring, then allow the connection on the refrigerator when prompted.
- Play YouTube on the mobile device.
From a Samsung TV
Use a TV model supported by Samsung’s mirroring instructions and follow the on-screen connection prompts. Samsung provides a supported-TV list; if your TV is not listed, its guidance recommends checking the TV model and Wi-Fi connection. YouTube opens, but its shortcut is missing
Open YouTube in the Internet app and add it to the Home screen as described above. Then check Entertainment by swiping left twice from Home.

The dedicated app is missing
Check for an available software update and whether the service is offered for your model and region. Samsung’s announcement does not promise availability on every individual unit.
A video will not load or play
- Confirm the refrigerator is connected to Wi-Fi, then try another video to see whether the problem affects one video or playback generally.
- If the browser remains unreliable, try Smart View from a supported Samsung phone, tablet or TV.
- Keep browser limitations in mind: Samsung Korea says performance can depend on Wi-Fi conditions and that Flash Player or other plugins may not be supported. Its browser guidance for Family Hub describes bookmarks, tabs, zoom and Favorites, but does not guarantee compatibility with every website feature.
Samsung documented a YouTube playback disruption in September 2019 after a YouTube server-side change affected some Family Hub videos. That historical notice recommended desktop mode as a temporary workaround at the time; it does not establish that the same issue is happening now or that desktop mode will fix a current playback error.
