There is no officially documented way to run Xbox games on a PS5 without modifying the console. Xbox’s published compatibility guidance does not list PS5 as a device for Xbox Cloud Gaming or Xbox Remote Play. PlayStation’s own cloud services stream selected PlayStation games, not Xbox titles.
You can still play the Xbox library by using a device Xbox supports, such as a PC, phone, tablet, selected television, Fire TV device or Xbox console. That is an alternative platform, not a method that makes Xbox games execute on your PS5.

What “playing Xbox games on a PS5” would have to mean
The phrase can describe several different goals, and separating them prevents a misleading answer.
Running an Xbox game on the PS5 itself
In this scenario, the PS5 would execute the game code, handle graphics and manage the game’s platform license. No official Xbox or PlayStation guidance reviewed for this article documents that capability. A PS5 is not listed as an Xbox-compatible console for cloud gaming or remote play, and Xbox games are not converted into native PS5 software by a controller, adapter or subscription.

Streaming an Xbox game to a PS5 screen
Cloud gaming and remote play can send video to a supported device while another system or a server runs the game. However, the destination still has to be supported by the service. Xbox’s listed destinations do not name PS5, so a PS5 cannot be treated as an approved Xbox streaming endpoint merely because it has an internet browser or an HDMI port.
Using PlayStation’s streaming services
PlayStation offers cloud streaming for selected PS5 games from the PlayStation Store and PlayStation Plus catalogs. It also offers PS Remote Play for games installed on a PS5 or PS4. Both services are for PlayStation software; neither supplies access to Xbox games.

Xbox Cloud Gaming requires a supported device, a compatible controller, an internet connection and either an eligible Game Pass subscription or an eligible free-to-play game. Xbox’s published categories include:

The Xbox page also describes browser play on supported devices, but it does not specifically establish PS5 compatibility. A browser being present on a device is therefore not proof that the device can launch Xbox Cloud Gaming reliably or with official support.

Xbox Remote Play
Xbox Remote Play streams games installed on an Xbox console to listed compatible televisions, VR headsets, PCs, phones and tablets. The Xbox console remains the source of the game, and the destination must be one Xbox supports. PS5 is not named as a destination in the reviewed guidance.
Remote Play is consequently different from cloud gaming: cloud gaming runs an eligible title on Microsoft’s servers, while Remote Play sends a game installed on your own Xbox. Neither service documents a PS5-to-Xbox bridge.
Why a PS5 browser is not a confirmed solution
Some readers assume that opening the Xbox Cloud Gaming website in the PS5 browser should be enough. That conclusion goes beyond the published compatibility information.
- Xbox identifies supported device categories and browser-capable environments.
- Those published categories do not name PS5.
- Without explicit PS5 support, Microsoft does not establish that sign-in, controller input, video decoding, copy protection, performance or game launching will work on the console.
- A page loading in a browser would not turn the PS5 into an officially supported Xbox device.
Unofficial browser experiments may change as firmware, browser behavior and service checks change. They should not be presented as a reliable method, and the reviewed official pages provide no basis for promising that they work.

The table’s “no” entries describe the official device lists reviewed on October 13, 2026. Xbox and PlayStation can change supported hardware, regions and catalogs, so check the current service pages before buying equipment or a subscription.
If your goal is simply to play Xbox games
The dependable route is to select a device Xbox explicitly supports rather than trying to make the PS5 act as one.
Use Xbox Cloud Gaming on a supported device
- Choose the destination. Use a PC, phone, tablet, supported Xbox console, selected smart TV, Amazon Fire TV device or another category shown on Xbox’s current compatibility page. Do not assume that a PS5 browser belongs to one of those categories.
- Check the game. Cloud availability differs by title. An Xbox game you own is not automatically cloud-playable, and a free-to-play game must be one Xbox supports for cloud access.
- Check the plan. Xbox requires an eligible Game Pass subscription for subscription-based cloud titles. Supported free-to-play games can have a different access requirement, so verify the individual title.
- Connect a compatible controller. The controller must be supported by the destination and service. A controller connected to a PS5 does not make the PS5 an Xbox Cloud Gaming endpoint.
- Check your region and network. Availability, catalog, account requirements and performance can vary by country. Use the current Xbox service page for your region, then sign in and launch the title from the supported device.
Use Xbox Remote Play from your own Xbox
- Prepare the Xbox. The game must be installed on the Xbox console that will provide the stream.
- Use a listed destination. Xbox identifies compatible televisions, VR headsets, PCs, phones and tablets. PS5 is not included in the reviewed destination list.
- Use the correct account and controller. Remote Play depends on the Xbox account, installed game and compatible input device associated with the console.
- Follow Xbox’s current setup instructions. Console settings, power behavior and regional requirements can change. The official instructions for your Xbox model and destination are authoritative.
This approach lets you play an Xbox game remotely, but the game still runs on the Xbox. It does not use the PS5’s processor or turn the PS5 into an Xbox console.

What you can do with a PS5 instead
Stream selected PlayStation games
PlayStation cloud streaming is the closest official feature available on PS5, but its catalog is PlayStation’s catalog. PlayStation states that selected PS5 games can be streamed from the PlayStation Store and PlayStation Plus catalogs to eligible PlayStation Plus Premium members. A session requires a minimum of 5 Mbps upload and 5 Mbps download.

This option is useful if the underlying goal is to avoid downloading a large PlayStation game or to play a supported title immediately. It does not add Xbox games to the PlayStation catalog, and an Xbox Game Pass subscription does not change what PlayStation’s cloud service offers.
Use PS Remote Play for PlayStation software
PS Remote Play sends games installed on your PS5 or PS4 to compatible PlayStation devices, mobile devices, computers and selected Android TV devices. It is a way to move PlayStation gameplay to another screen; it is not an Xbox compatibility layer and cannot stream a game installed on an Xbox.

No reviewed Xbox or PlayStation guidance identifies an adapter or controller that enables Xbox game execution on PS5. These accessories carry input or audio/video signals; they do not supply the Xbox operating environment, game files, platform license or supported streaming client required by the service.
An Xbox-style controller may be useful on a supported PC, TV or mobile device, but connecting that controller to a PS5 does not alter the software the PS5 can run. Likewise, an HDMI cable can carry a picture from a device to a display, but it does not make the receiving console host the game. To play through a television, connect the supported Xbox device directly to the display or use the television’s supported app environment.
Common claims that should be treated cautiously
“The PS5 browser can run Xbox Cloud Gaming.”
Not established by the Xbox compatibility page reviewed here. Xbox describes browser play on supported devices but does not name PS5. Treat any guide that calls this officially supported as overstating the evidence unless Xbox adds PS5 to its current list.
“Xbox Remote Play works from an Xbox to a PS5.”
The reviewed Xbox destination guidance does not list PS5. Remote Play requires a compatible destination, so the documented alternatives are the televisions, VR headsets, PCs, phones and tablets Xbox identifies.
“PlayStation Plus Premium includes Xbox games.”
PlayStation cloud streaming covers selected PlayStation titles. It is a separate catalog and service from Xbox Cloud Gaming.

“A PS5 can emulate an Xbox with an accessory.”
No official support page reviewed identifies such an accessory. A reliable, supported solution would require the platform and service owner to list PS5 compatibility; that documentation is absent here.
A practical decision guide
- You want Xbox games and already own an Xbox: use Xbox Remote Play on a destination Xbox lists as compatible, or play directly on the Xbox.
- You want Xbox games but do not own an Xbox: check Xbox Cloud Gaming on a supported PC, mobile device, selected TV, Fire TV device or other listed hardware, along with the title, subscription and regional requirements.
- You only want to stream games on your PS5: use PlayStation’s cloud streaming for selected PS5 titles with PlayStation Plus Premium, subject to the 5 Mbps upload and download minimum.
- You want to use the PS5 as the actual Xbox endpoint: there is no officially documented method in the reviewed guidance without modifying the console.
Network, region and catalog checks
Streaming services are not interchangeable, and meeting one service’s requirement does not satisfy another’s. Before paying for a plan or device, verify all of the following on the current regional support pages:
- The country or region in which the service is offered
- The exact device model and operating-system version
- Whether the specific game is cloud-playable or eligible for Remote Play
- Which subscription tier is required
- Whether your controller is supported by that destination
- Any network-speed or account requirements
For PlayStation cloud streaming, the published minimum to establish a session is 5 Mbps upload and 5 Mbps download. That figure is a service threshold, not a promise of identical image quality or latency in every home. Xbox’s listed requirements likewise include an internet connection, but the reviewed Xbox guidance does not establish PS5 support or provide a universal performance guarantee for every region and device.
Why the answer may change later
Supported-device lists, cloud catalogs, subscription rules and regional availability are service policies rather than permanent hardware capabilities. The conclusion above reflects the official Xbox and PlayStation pages available when they were accessed on October 13, 2026. If Xbox later adds PS5 to its compatibility documentation, that new listing would be the evidence to follow. Until then, an unofficial experiment should not be confused with a supported method.
