Yes. You can stream supported Xbox Game Pass games to a Meta Quest headset using the Xbox app, a compatible controller, and a cloud-enabled Game Pass plan. The game runs through Xbox Cloud Gaming and appears on a large virtual screen; it is not a native VR version of the Xbox game.
What you need before you start
- A supported Quest headset: Xbox currently lists Meta Quest 2, Meta Quest Pro, Meta Quest 3, and Meta Quest 3S. If you have a different model, check Xbox’s VR headset support page.
- Cloud gaming in your region: Xbox Cloud Gaming is available only in supported regions. Check the Xbox supported regions page if you are unsure.
- An eligible plan and account: Xbox currently lists Game Pass Essential, Premium, and Ultimate as plans that include cloud gaming, with different playtime allowances. Most games require an active subscription and must support cloud play. Select free-to-play games may be exceptions, subject to region and account requirements. PC Game Pass is not listed as including cloud gaming in Xbox’s Quest guidance.
- A compatible controller: Xbox lists Quest controllers, Xbox Wireless Controllers, and Xbox Elite Wireless Controller Series 2 as options. You do not automatically need to buy an Xbox controller if you want to use Quest controls.
- A reliable connection: For Quest cloud gaming, Xbox recommends 5 GHz Wi-Fi and a connection speed of at least 20 Mbps. This is a practical target, not a guarantee of smooth play.
Which Game Pass plans work on Quest?
The relevant requirement is access to Xbox Cloud Gaming, not simply having any Game Pass subscription. Xbox’s current Quest support page lists these cloud-playtime allowances as accessed October 4, 2026:

These are the allowances displayed on Xbox’s page, not a promise that every title is included in every plan. Plan benefits, game access, and availability can change, so review Xbox’s current Game Pass details before subscribing. The current page does not list PC Game Pass as a cloud gaming plan for this setup.

How to play Game Pass games on Meta Quest
- Confirm your headset and region. Check that your Quest model appears on Xbox’s current supported VR headset list and that Xbox Cloud Gaming is available where you live.
- Install the Xbox app from the Meta Quest Store. Search the current Store listing for the Xbox app and follow its setup tutorial. Xbox’s December 2023 launch instructions called the app “Xbox Cloud Gaming (Beta)”; that historical label may not match the current Store name or presentation.
- Sign in with your Microsoft account. Use the account associated with your eligible Game Pass plan, or with a supported free-to-play title if you are using that exception.
- Connect your controller. Pair a supported controller using the app’s instructions. Xbox Wireless Controllers with Bluetooth support are specifically mentioned in Xbox’s launch guidance; Xbox’s general cloud gaming FAQ also describes compatible controllers connecting by Bluetooth or USB. Check the exact controller model’s compatibility if you are uncertain.
- Choose a game that supports cloud play. Browse Xbox’s cloud gaming library or check the individual game listing. Look for cloud-play support rather than assuming every Game Pass title can be streamed. Some supported games you own outside Game Pass may also be streamable.
- Start the stream and adjust the virtual screen. Launch the game from the app and follow the Quest controls to position or resize the screen. You are viewing a streamed 2D game on a virtual display, not playing an Xbox game built for immersive VR.
Choosing a controller
Use the control option that fits what you already own and prefer. Xbox identifies Quest controllers, Xbox Wireless Controllers, and Xbox Elite Wireless Controller Series 2 as supported options. If you choose an Xbox controller, verify that your specific model supports the connection method you intend to use; Xbox’s launch guidance calls out Bluetooth-capable Xbox Wireless Controllers. A separate controller purchase is not required if Quest controls suit you.

Network setup and streaming quality
Xbox’s Quest-specific recommendation is a 5 GHz Wi-Fi connection at 20 Mbps or higher. Its general cloud gaming FAQ gives 10 Mbps down as a minimum and notes that some devices may need 20 Mbps for best quality; for Quest, use the more demanding VR-specific recommendation. Speed alone cannot ensure a good stream: Xbox says performance also depends on the connection, location, device, and other factors.

- Use a stable 5 GHz Wi-Fi network where possible.
- Check your connection speed near the headset’s usual play location.
- If streaming stutters or responds slowly, try improving the Wi-Fi connection or reducing competing network use before assuming the headset or controller is at fault.
If a game or setup option is missing
- The app is not available: Confirm your Quest model and region against Xbox’s current support information, then search the current Meta Quest Store listing rather than relying on the 2023 “Beta” name.
- A game does not appear or will not launch: Check that the title currently supports cloud play and is available for your region and plan. Xbox says its game library, titles, availability, and features vary by region, plan, and platform.
- Your plan does not provide cloud access: Confirm the current cloud gaming benefits and monthly allowance for your plan. A Game Pass subscription alone does not establish that a specific game can be streamed.
- The controller will not connect: Check the model’s Bluetooth or USB compatibility and repeat the pairing steps in the Xbox app. Quest controllers are also listed as an input option.
- The stream is poor despite adequate speed: Xbox’s 20 Mbps guidance is not a latency or performance guarantee. Connection stability, location, and device conditions can still affect play.
