Yes, you can play the Xbox 360 version of WWE All Stars on a Windows PC with the unofficial WWE All Stars Recompilation project. It translates the game’s PowerPC code to x86-64 ahead of time and runs it as a Windows program. You must provide your own Xbox 360 disc image and your own Title Update 2 dump; the project download does not include the game.
The practical route is to use Windows 10 or 11 64-bit, a Vulkan-capable graphics card with a current driver, roughly 8 GB of free storage, and a controller. The project reports several playable modes and experimental online Player Match support, but Ranked Match, leaderboards and the in-game store are not supported.

What the Xbox 360 static recompilation actually is
WWE All Stars Recompilation is an unofficial Windows version of the 2011 Xbox 360 game. It is not a conventional emulator that recreates an entire Xbox 360 while the game is running. The project uses ReXGlue to translate the game’s PowerPC code ahead of time to x86-64, then runs that translated code as a Windows application.
The project’s FAQ describes the result this way: “The game’s code was translated to x86-64 ahead of time and runs as a Windows program.” A native Vulkan renderer handles the game’s original Direct3D 9 rendering calls. The launcher still needs to read the game data from a disc image that you supply; the recompilation release itself contains no commercial game files.

This distinction matters when deciding between this project and an Xbox 360 emulator such as Xenia. Xenia emulates the console system and translates code during execution. The recompilation is prepared for this one game in advance and uses a purpose-built Windows build. The available documentation does not provide independent head-to-head benchmarks, so neither approach should be promised as universally faster or more accurate.
Requirements and files
Prepare these items before installing. The project documentation lists Windows 11 as tested and Windows 10 as untested in its compatibility table, although both 64-bit versions are listed as requirements.

The USA and Europe release requirement is important: do not assume that an image from another region will work. The project does not provide a game download, disc image, update, or DLC. Follow the project’s own instructions for creating dumps from media and hardware you own, and do not distribute the resulting gamedata, updatedata, disc image, update or DLC folders.

Install the recompilation on Windows
- Download the Windows x64 release. Use the project’s official Releases page and obtain the current Windows x64 ZIP. Avoid unofficial mirrors or packages that claim to include the game.
- Extract the ZIP to a normal writable folder. A path such as
C:GamesWWEAllStarsis suitable. Do not launch the executable from inside the compressed archive. The README advises avoidingProgram Files, where Windows permissions can interfere with the launcher writing its generated files. - Start the launcher. Run
WWEAllStarsLauncher.exefrom the extracted folder. - Select the source files. In the launcher, choose your Xbox 360 ISO, then select your dump of Title Update 2. If you have compatible DLC dumps from your own console, add them in the optional DLC field.
- Let verification and preparation finish. The launcher verifies and copies the required files, then prepares shaders and graphics pipelines. The project says this happens once and can take a few minutes. It reads the source files rather than changing them.
- Choose Play. After preparation completes, select Play in the launcher. If the game closes during the first run, check the troubleshooting section below before repeating the entire installation.
The launcher is unsigned, so Windows SmartScreen may display a warning on first launch. Treat that as a standard Windows security decision: verify that you obtained the release from the project’s official distribution channel and that the file is the expected release before deciding whether to run it. Do not disable Windows security protections globally or install a modified executable from an untrusted source.
First launch: graphics, resolution and controls
The native Vulkan renderer is selected by default. An emulated renderer remains available as a fallback and reference option if the native path produces a problem on your hardware.
The PC build adds display controls that were not available in the original console presentation. You can select 720p, 1440p or 2160p render resolution, enable supersampling and sharpening, and choose anisotropic texture filtering up to 16x. Color options and Low, Medium and High quality presets are also available.

The README says Low is selected on first start for a Steam Deck or an integrated GPU. That is a conservative starting point rather than a performance guarantee for every integrated graphics chip.

What is reported to work
The project’s compatibility notes distinguish between modes that have been tested and features that are absent. “Tested and playable” is the project’s own status, not an independent test result.

Online Player Match should be treated as a community feature that may change or be unavailable, not as a restoration of official Xbox LIVE connectivity. The documentation labels it experimental and does not promise the reliability, population or account behavior of the original service.

The project reports the original 60-frames-per-second presentation on supported configurations and 60 fps on Steam Deck at Low. These are self-reported notes in the live project documentation; no independent benchmark method or publication year is supplied. Unlisted combinations may work, but the README warns that they can also crash.

Choose based on your goal. The recompilation is the direct option if you want a Windows build tailored to WWE All Stars and are comfortable supplying the required update files. An emulator is a different architecture with different compatibility behavior. Neither option changes the requirement to use game files obtained lawfully.
Troubleshooting common problems
The launcher cannot write files or preparation fails
- Move the extracted folder out of
Program Filesand into a normal path such asC:GamesWWEAllStars. - Confirm that the drive has about 8 GB free and additional room for temporary shader and pipeline work.
- Run the launcher from the extracted folder, not from inside the ZIP.
- Check that the ISO and update paths point to complete files from the expected USA or Europe release.
The game starts but crashes during graphics initialization
- Update the Vulkan-capable GPU driver.
- Open PC Settings with F4 or through Options and select the Low preset and 720p temporarily.
- Allow the first shader and graphics-pipeline preparation to finish; interrupting it can leave an incomplete setup.
- Try the emulated renderer as a fallback. It is included as a reference path when the native Vulkan renderer is troublesome.
The launcher rejects the update or DLC
- Verify that the selected update is Title Update 2, not a different revision.
- Use DLC dumped from your own console and add it through the launcher’s DLC control.
- Do not mix folders downloaded from another person with your disc image. The project specifically says not to share or redistribute the
gamedataandupdatedatafolders.
Windows SmartScreen blocks the first launch
The project says its launcher is unsigned, which can trigger SmartScreen. Confirm the release source and file name first. If you cannot verify the download, do not bypass the warning.
Controllers or local multiplayer do not respond
- Connect and test every controller in Windows before launching the game.
- Use the in-game PC Settings page to review input assignments.
- For four-player sessions, add controllers one at a time and confirm that each is assigned to a separate player slot.
- The project recommends a controller but does not specify a required model, so compatibility depends on the device and its Windows driver.
Online Player Match is unavailable
Online Player Match is experimental and depends on the project’s replacement server. A failure to connect does not indicate that the local game installation is broken. Ranked Match, leaderboards and the in-game store are unsupported regardless of network status.
File ownership and distribution boundaries
The project states that its repository and releases contain no game files and will not link to game downloads. You are expected to create the disc image, Title Update 2 dump and optional DLC from your own Xbox 360 materials. The project also asks users not to share those files or the generated gamedata and updatedata folders.
Those statements describe the project’s file and legal policy; they are not a substitute for legal advice in your country. Keep your dumps private, do not download someone else’s ISO or update package, and check the rules that apply where you live.
