Yes—The Outlast Trials supports cross-play between PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S, according to developer Red Barrels. To invite friends on another platform, share your Outlast ID from the Social Menu, then form a group in the Sleep Room and choose a Trial.

Everyone needs access to the game on a supported platform and the ability to play online. The PlayStation listing identifies the game as a downloadable PS4 and PS5 title, requires online play, and says PlayStation online features require a PlayStation account. Platform service and subscription terms can vary, so check the relevant storefront for current requirements in your region.
How to add friends and start a Trial
- Exchange Outlast IDs. Each player opens the Social Menu and shares the Outlast ID shown there with the others. Use that ID to connect with friends across platforms; Red Barrels documents this as its friend-connection method.
- Meet in the Sleep Room. Form your group there. Red Barrels describes the Sleep Room as the place to set up a group and select a Trial.
- Choose a Trial. Once the group is together, agree on the Trial to play. The group leader can change the selected Trial after the group has formed, according to the July 16, 2024 Project Lupara update notes.
Menu details and button inputs can differ by platform and may change with updates. Open the Social Menu in your version of the game rather than relying on a platform-specific button sequence.

How many friends can join?
A team can include up to four players. Red Barrels’ October 2023 matchmaking and group setup notes describe Duo, Trio, and Quad group sizes.

No—cross-play and cross-progression are separate features. In its March 2024 1.0 announcement, Red Barrels said cross-progression was not supported at that time. That statement is dated, so check for a newer developer update before assuming progress or unlocks transfer between platform accounts.
