The most direct way to play the original arcade Mortal Kombat games on modern hardware is Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection. It includes arcade versions of Mortal Kombat, Mortal Kombat II, Mortal Kombat 3 and Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3, with listings linked for PC and current consoles. Check your platform’s store for the edition and availability in your region.
Which collection has the original arcade games?
Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection is the modern collection to look for if you want the original arcade releases. Its lineup includes four arcade games—not just three: Mortal Kombat (1992), Mortal Kombat II (1993), Mortal Kombat 3 (1995) and Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 (1995). The collection also includes selected home and handheld versions, plus additional entries in the series.

Atari links to storefronts for Xbox, Steam, PlayStation and Nintendo Switch. The PlayStation Store listing is for PS4 and PS5. The PlayStation listing gives October 30, 2025 as the release date. Store availability and editions can vary by platform and region, so use the link for your system and confirm the live listing before buying.
How to get started on your platform
- Choose the platform: Visit Atari’s collection page and follow the link for Xbox, Steam, PlayStation or Nintendo Switch. PlayStation buyers can check the PS4 and PS5 listing directly.
- Check the edition and price: The PlayStation listing showed a US price of $49.99 when checked on October 4, 2026. That figure applies to that listing at that time; it is not a price guarantee for another region, retailer or edition. Atari describes physical editions as well as digital options, but availability depends on the seller.
- Select an arcade version in the collection: Choose the arcade release of the game you want. The collection also offers selected console and handheld versions, so check the version label rather than assuming every entry is the arcade one.

Digital Eclipse’s announcement lists the following arcade and selected home or handheld versions:

Can you play online?

What about the older Mortal Kombat Arcade Kollection on Steam?
The older Mortal Kombat Arcade Kollection is a separate release. Valve’s Steam announcement dated February 2, 2012 says it contains Mortal Kombat, Mortal Kombat 2 and Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3. That historical announcement does not establish whether the game can still be purchased or whether it runs properly on a current PC. Check its live Steam listing and current system information before relying on it.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsWhich version should you choose?
- For the original arcade trilogy and its updated third-game version: Start with Legacy Kollection; it lists all four relevant arcade releases.
- For online matches: The new collection advertises rollback-netcode play. On PlayStation, a PS Plus subscription is required for online play.
- For a specific old console version: Check the version list above; the collection includes selected ports, not every version on every platform.
- For the older Steam compilation: Treat it as a possible option only after checking present sale status and compatibility. The 2012 announcement alone cannot confirm either.
The official listings establish which versions and features are offered, but they do not provide a comparison of input latency, emulation accuracy, image quality or performance. Those qualities should not be assumed from the version list alone.

- Arcade-Favorite Games: 3 Mortal Kombat arcade titles ship on this cabinet, Mortal Kombat and Mortal Kombat II among them, so the ladder, the hidden fighters and the finishing moves live on the countertop
- Real-Feel Joystick and Buttons: Full-size arcade controls sit under your hand the way the original cabinets did, which is the point of buying an arcade machine instead of playing arcade games on a phone
- 7" Full-Color LCD: A 7 inch full-colour screen keeps the sprites sharp and the frame rate smooth, and the viewing angle suits a table top or a bar top where you stand over it rather than sit
- Portable with a Built-In Handle: A top-mounted carry handle and a countertop footprint mean it moves between a desk, a shelf and a game room unaided, far smaller than full size arcade machines
- Multiple Power Options: Run it on 4 AA batteries, not included, or plug in a Micro-USB cable, and it arrives fully assembled with nothing to build, among the easier gifts for a retro gaming household
