Yes. The PC route covered here is emulation: The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD was released for Wii U, and Cemu is the Wii U emulator addressed in this guide. You will need a legally obtained game copy and the required Wii U system files; Cemu’s setup documentation explains installation and configuration. Compatibility looks promising, but no compatibility label guarantees performance on every PC.

Nintendo identifies the HD game as a Wii U release and lists Wii U GamePad and Wii U Pro Controller compatibility on its product page. Cemu describes it as a 2013 HD remaster of the 2002 GameCube game, with native 1080p output. Those platform and resolution facts do not mean the original Wii U controls or performance are automatically reproduced by a PC.

How to set up Wind Waker HD in Cemu
- Install Cemu using its current official documentation. Start with the Cemu installation guide and follow its instructions for your operating system and required system files.
- Set up input. In Cemu’s input settings, configure your device and map it to the emulated Wii U controller the game needs. Save the mapping as a named profile so you can reuse it. The controller configuration guide documents the process.
- Load your legally obtained game copy. Use the format and installation method supported by your Cemu setup. Do not use unofficial download sites to obtain the game or system files.
- Try the default game settings first. Cemu’s game-specific page says no non-default setting is required for proper operation and recommends keeping CPU mode at Auto / Multi-core recompiler. Consult its Wind Waker HD notes if you encounter a problem.

Does Wind Waker HD work on Cemu?
Cemu’s game page labels The Wind Waker HD “Perfect” and says it runs without non-default settings. Separately, Cemu’s live compatibility list showed the USA version as “Playable” on Cemu 2.0-85 when checked on 2026-10-07. These are emulator and community status indicators, not performance guarantees for every computer or a promise that the same status applies to another region, emulator version, operating system, or driver. Check the current compatibility list and game-specific notes for your version.
The game page also contains older hardware reports, including uneven performance. They are not current benchmarks and should not be used to predict a fixed frame rate on a modern PC. Native 1080p is the game’s stated resolution characteristic, not a promise that a particular PC will maintain a particular frame rate.

Wind Waker HD was designed for the Wii U GamePad as well as the television display. When playing through Cemu, configure input for the emulated GamePad where the game expects it, and consult Cemu’s current documentation for handling its separate GamePad view. A standard PC controller can cover button input, but an Xbox pad does not supply motion controls according to Cemu’s guide. You do not need to buy a particular controller simply to try the emulator.
