The simplest official way to play The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask on a current Nintendo console is through the Nintendo 64 – Nintendo Switch Online collection, included with Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack where the service is available. That collection runs the original Nintendo 64 game, not the separate 3DS remake. Nintendo has no official product for playing its game files on a personal computer.

Play the original on Switch or Switch 2
Open the Nintendo 64 – Nintendo Switch Online app and find Majora’s Mask in its library. Nintendo announced the game’s addition to the N64 collection on February 25, 2022. You need an active Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack membership, a Nintendo Account, and access to the service in your country. [c001]

Get the 3DS remake
Majora’s Mask 3D requires a Nintendo 3DS-family system. New digital purchases through the Nintendo 3DS eShop ended on March 27, 2023, so a new buyer cannot purchase the game there. Nintendo’s notice said people could continue to redownload games and DLC they had already bought for the foreseeable future; that applies to past purchases, not new ones. [c002]
If you want the remake and did not buy it digitally, a physical copy is the remaining route described here. Check that the system is compatible and verify the cartridge’s condition and region before buying. Current stock, prices, and the authenticity of individual listings are not established here.

What PC players should know
Nintendo Support states: “Nintendo does not currently offer or authorise for sale any product that allows the play or download of its video game files on personal computing devices.” In other words, there is no official Nintendo PC release or Nintendo-supported PC product established for playing Majora’s Mask. Nintendo’s IP and Piracy FAQ discusses unauthorized emulators and unauthorized copies of game files in its enforcement guidance. That does not establish the legal status of every emulator or every use of a game file in every jurisdiction. - Want the original on a current Nintendo console? Check local availability of the N64 collection, then use Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack.
- Want the remake? Use compatible 3DS-family hardware and either redownload a prior digital purchase or seek a physical copy.
- Already own a Nintendo 64? The original game also runs on its original hardware; check the console and game version before buying used equipment.
- Need a Nintendo-supported PC option? The official PC product described in Nintendo’s support guidance does not exist.
