Solitaire Clash is timed Klondike solitaire played competitively. You receive the same starting layout as the other side, have five minutes, and score by revealing tableau cards and moving cards from the waste while building four foundations from Ace through King. You do not have to clear the entire board to score well, although finishing early can add a time bonus.
This guide explains the layout, legal moves, scoring, a practical turn-by-turn routine, and the choices that matter most when the clock is running.

What Solitaire Clash is and what you are trying to do
Solitaire Clash uses the familiar Klondike rules with a competitive timer. AviaGames’ official guide says a match lasts five minutes and that competitors play the same card layout, so the result depends on how efficiently each person handles identical information rather than on receiving an easier deal. The official support FAQ says the opponent can be a live player or a historical playthrough recorded from a real player; both sides still receive the same initial layout, time limit, rules and scoring.

Your central objective is to build the four foundation piles by suit, starting with Aces and continuing upward to Kings. At the same time, you rearrange the seven-column tableau into descending, alternating-color sequences and expose face-down cards. Solitaire Clash awards points for useful actions during the five-minute window, so a high score is not defined only by whether every card reaches a foundation.

Solitaire Clash layout and legal moves
The 52-card deck and seven-column tableau
The game uses a standard 52-card deck. The tableau contains seven columns. Cards are placed face down where they are hidden and face up where they can be played. You build a tableau sequence downward in rank and in alternating colors: for example, a black 9 can go on a red 10, and a red 8 can go on a black 9. You may move a single face-up card or an attached, correctly ordered face-up sequence.
When you move the cards covering a face-down card, that newly uncovered card turns face up. Exposing those cards both creates new choices and contributes to your score.
Empty columns
Only a King, either by itself or with a legal face-up sequence attached, can occupy an empty tableau column. Empty columns are therefore valuable repositioning spaces: opening one can let you move a King-led stack and expose cards elsewhere.
Four foundation piles
Each foundation is built upward in a single suit, beginning with Ace, then 2, 3 and so on through King. A card that is legal for a foundation may still be more useful in the tableau if it enables a reveal or connects a longer alternating-color sequence, so foundation placement is a decision rather than an automatic tap.

Stock and waste
The stock supplies cards that are not currently available in the tableau. The official guide describes drawing three cards at a time. Drawn cards pass through the waste; the order in which they appear matters, especially when a needed card is temporarily behind other cards.

How do you play Solitaire Clash? A five-minute procedure
- Scan before tapping. Look across all seven columns for legal moves that expose a face-down card. A reveal usually has more strategic value than a move that merely rearranges already visible cards.
- Check available Aces and low cards. Move an Ace to its foundation when doing so does not remove a card you need to build or connect a tableau sequence. Also note any 2 or 3 that can safely follow it.
- Prioritize a useful reveal. Compare possible moves by what they uncover. If one move turns a hidden card face up and another only shifts an already visible stack, the reveal is normally the stronger first choice.
- Build alternating-color runs. Place descending cards in alternating colors and move complete legal runs together when that exposes a hidden card or opens a useful column.
- Use an empty column deliberately. If a column is cleared, reserve the space for a King-led stack that allows further reorganization. Do not fill it simply because a King can move there; consider what the move reveals and what it blocks.
- Draw from the stock when tableau moves are exhausted. Because the game uses a three-card draw, inspect the order rather than tapping at random. A playable card may be temporarily buried behind the two cards before it.
- Reconsider foundation moves. Before sending a card upward, check whether it is the only card that can connect two tableau groups. Keeping it in the tableau for another move can unlock a reveal; sending it immediately can sometimes strand the layout.
- Keep the less advanced suit in view. If one suit is behind the others, look for the needed rank in the tableau and stock. AviaGames’ short-suit advice treats this as a situational way to prevent one suit from remaining trapped, not as a rule to follow regardless of the position.
- Continue at a steady pace. The clock is part of the match. When a sensible move is available, make it rather than pausing indefinitely, but do not substitute rapid random taps for a legal sequence.
- Finish or use the remaining time intelligently. If the board is complete, or no further move exists, ending early can produce a time bonus. If useful cards remain, spend the remaining seconds on high-value reveals and foundation progress.
These steps are a decision routine, not a guaranteed winning sequence. The same move can be correct in one deal and harmful in another because the hidden cards and waste order differ.
How does Solitaire Clash scoring work?
The official AviaGames guide dated February 9, 2026, publishes two point values. Both are 20 points, and each applies to a specific qualifying action:
| Action | Published value | What the wording means |
|---|---|---|
| Move a card from the waste | 20 points per card | The guide awards 20 points for each card moved from the waste. It does not provide a separate breakdown for every destination or sequence situation. |
| Reveal a card in the tableau | 20 points per card | The guide awards 20 points whenever a face-down tableau card is revealed. |
These are game-rule figures supplied by AviaGames, not results from an independent study. The guide also says that finishing the board or running out of moves can end a match early and earn a time bonus. The faster the finish and the more cards moved to the Foundation, the larger that bonus is described as being. No complete bonus formula is published in the guide, so do not calculate an exact amount from the 20-point values alone. The visible rules in your current match mode control if the scoring display changes.

Why score is not the same as “board solved”
A player can earn points by revealing cards and moving waste cards even if the entire deck does not reach the foundations before five minutes. Conversely, a quick completion can add a bonus, but a slow sequence that reaches the foundations may not beat a faster, higher-scoring run. Watch the score indicator and the clock rather than treating completion as the only objective.

How the match is decided
According to the support FAQ, prize eligibility requires a higher score than the other player or players. If a historical playthrough records the winning score, AviaGames retains the prize. The exact tie or mode-specific handling should be read in the current in-app terms.
Winning strategies that fit the published rules
1. Reveal hidden cards first when the move is sound
Face-down cards are both unknown information and potential scoring events. A move that uncovers one can reveal a needed rank, open a new tableau connection and earn 20 points. Compare the number and quality of reveals before choosing a move that only shifts visible cards. Do not force a reveal if it traps a King or destroys the only route for a useful sequence.
AviaGames lists revealing hidden cards as a central strategy in its rules guide.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2. Do not send every available card to a foundation immediately
Foundation building feels like progress, but a low or mid-rank card can be a bridge in the tableau. For example, moving a red 7 to its foundation may remove the card needed to place a black 6 beneath a red 8. Before committing, ask whether the card is needed to connect an alternating-color run, expose a face-down card, or free an empty column. Once those options are no longer useful, foundation placement becomes safer.
This “recycling” principle is explained in AviaGames’ card-recycling guide. It is a publisher recommendation, not a promise that delaying a foundation move always improves a score.
3. Watch the suit that is falling behind
When three suits are advancing and one is missing a key rank, look for a way to progress the lagging suit before its cards remain buried in the stock or tableau. That might mean choosing a waste card for that suit, revealing a column that could contain it, or postponing a competing move. The tactic is conditional: if advancing the short suit blocks several reveals, the immediate reveal may still be better.

AviaGames gives this situational advice in its short-suit guide.
4. Memorize Aces, Kings and missing foundation cards
During a timed game, remember where the important blockers are:
- Which Aces are already available or have been sent to foundations.
- Which Kings can fill an empty column.
- Which rank is missing before each foundation can advance.
- Where a useful card appeared in the three-card stock cycle.
This prevents repeated scans and helps you predict when a buried waste card will return. AviaGames’ key-card memory tips specifically recommend tracking these cards and the order of the three-card draw.
5. Treat empty columns as working space, not storage
An empty column has value only when it helps you move a King-led stack, expose a hidden card or split a blockage. Before clearing a column, identify the King or sequence that could use the space. If no useful King is accessible, a different reveal may be more productive.
6. Optimize for useful actions under the timer
Five minutes rewards a steady rhythm: scan, choose the move with the best reveal or progression, execute, and scan again. Avoid long pauses after you have identified a legal move. At the same time, speed does not justify random taps that create illegal moves or consume the stock without a plan. The publisher’s advice is to maintain a steady pace while prioritizing efficient progress.
Stock-order decisions and common dead ends
When the card you need is behind two waste cards
With a three-card draw, a useful card can be visible but inaccessible until the cards above it are moved. Track the sequence and ask whether moving the top waste card to a foundation or tableau will expose the next card on a later pass. If you cannot use the top card, check for a tableau move before drawing again; cycling without changing the position can waste time.

When no tableau move appears
Do not assume the deal is over. Check the waste’s top card, available foundations and any newly opened empty column. Then draw the next three-card group and reassess the order. If no legal move remains after the available stock and tableau options are exhausted, the match may end for lack of moves; the published guide says such an early end can qualify for a time bonus.
When a foundation move creates a blockage
If removing a card eliminates the only alternating-color connector, undo the decision only if the interface permits a legal undo and the mode’s rules allow it. Otherwise, treat the position as a lesson for future deals: foundation progress must be weighed against tableau mobility before the tap.
Free, Gem and cash matches: what is and is not established
Solitaire Clash offers free matches and cash matches in the US Apple App Store listing. The listing marks the app 18+ and states that cash-match restrictions apply in Arkansas, Delaware, Louisiana, Michigan, South Dakota, Maine, Indiana and US territories including Puerto Rico. It also says free matches may remain available in some restricted locations.
| Match type | Entry and result | What to verify |
|---|---|---|
| Free or Gem match | Uses the mode’s non-cash entry currency or free access; the listing does not establish one universal fee or prize amount. | Whether the mode is available in your location and what rewards the current event offers. |
| Cash match | Uses a cash-entry format where eligible; no stable, exhaustive entry-fee or prize-pool table is supplied by the cited sources. | Age, state or territory eligibility, payment rules, current terms and any event-specific conditions. |
These statements come from the US App Store listing and can change. Check the current app terms and local law before entering a cash mode. The five-minute layout, scoring and opponent rules apply to the match format, but prize availability is a separate eligibility question.
Can you practice Solitaire Clash with real cards?
Yes. A normal 52-card deck can help you learn descending, alternating-color tableau moves and Ace-to-King foundation building away from the app. Deal seven Klondike columns and practice spotting reveals, empty-column moves and stock order.
Physical practice cannot reproduce Solitaire Clash’s five-minute timer, shared competitive layout, 20-point scoring events, historical-playthrough matching or tournament and prize rules. Treat it as an optional way to learn the underlying mechanics, not as a substitute for the app’s current instructions.
What to check before each match
- Confirm the timer and scoring display shown in the current mode.
- Identify every immediately available Ace and every possible face-down reveal.
- Locate Kings that could eventually use an empty column.
- Note which foundation or suit is lagging.
- Keep the three-card waste order in mind as you draw.
- Verify that your location, age and selected mode permit entry, especially for cash matches.
Solitaire Clash rewards the same fundamentals as Klondike—legal alternating-color sequences, careful foundation timing and purposeful use of empty columns—but adds a strict clock and score race. The strongest practical approach is to reveal hidden cards without sacrificing mobility, remember the stock order, advance a lagging suit when the position supports it, and keep moving at a deliberate pace.
