You cannot currently play R.E.P.O. natively on an Xbox console. The official release documented by the developer is the Windows PC version sold through Steam. That version supports online co-op for up to six players total, but the official sources do not document an Xbox edition, an Xbox release date, or Xbox-to-PC cross-play.
If you want to play with friends now, you need a Windows PC that meets the published minimum requirements, a Steam installation, and an internet connection. Semiwork says console support is the current plan, but the studio has not committed to a launch window or explained how cross-play would work.

What is the current Xbox situation?
R.E.P.O. is not documented as an Xbox game in the current official information. The official store listing identifies the release as a Windows PC game on Steam, developed and published by semiwork. It lists a February 26, 2025 release date and marks the game as Early Access.

That distinction matters. An Xbox console cannot install or run the Steam/Windows build as though it were an Xbox title. The published PC requirements, Steam purchase, and online features describe the Windows release only; they are not an Xbox workaround.

| Question | What the official information establishes |
|---|---|
| Is there an Xbox version? | No Xbox-console version is documented in the current official sources. |
| Where can you play now? | On a Windows PC through Steam. |
| Does it have co-op? | Yes. The Steam listing describes online co-op for up to six players total. |
| Can Xbox and PC players play together? | No cross-play support or Xbox network integration has been announced. |
| Is there an Xbox release date? | No date has been provided. |
| Is it on Game Pass? | The official information supplied for this release does not announce Game Pass availability. |
Because the game is still in Early Access, platform details and features can change. Treat any claim that an Xbox version is already available, has a fixed launch date, or definitely supports cross-play as unconfirmed unless semiwork publishes it through an official channel.
How to play R.E.P.O. co-op right now
The supported route today is the Windows/Steam release. Follow these steps for the documented version.
- Use a Windows PC. The published minimum operating system is Windows 10. A console-only setup does not meet the listed platform requirement.
- Check the hardware before buying. The minimum specification calls for an Intel Core i5-6600 processor, 8 GB of RAM, an NVIDIA GTX 970 graphics card, DirectX 10, broadband internet, and 1 GB of available storage. These are minimum figures for the Steam build, not a guarantee of a particular frame rate or graphics setting.
- Install Steam and obtain the Windows version. The official listing is a Steam product. Install the Steam client, sign in to the account that owns the game, and install R.E.P.O. to a drive with at least the stated free space. Keep additional room available for updates even though the published requirement is 1 GB.
- Launch the game and use its online co-op controls. The documented multiplayer mode is online co-op. Start a session or accept an invitation using the multiplayer and invitation controls shown in your current game and Steam interface. Labels can change while the game remains in Early Access.
- Invite the rest of your group. The store listing describes one player plus up to five friends, for a maximum of six people in a session. A seventh player is outside the documented limit.
- Test voice chat before entering a run. R.E.P.O. includes proximity voice chat. Confirm that the correct microphone and speakers are selected, then agree on a simple callout plan so players can communicate when they are close enough to hear one another.
- Coordinate what you carry. The game’s store description highlights keeping valuables safe while extracting them. Decide who is responsible for carrying, watching, and regrouping rather than scattering across the level. This is a co-op practice, not an Xbox-specific feature.
Published PC requirements
These are the minimum requirements stated for the Steam/Windows release. The listing does not provide a separate recommended specification in the supplied official information.
| Component | Minimum listed requirement | What it means for an Xbox player |
|---|---|---|
| Operating system | Windows 10 | An Xbox console does not satisfy this PC operating-system requirement. |
| Processor | Intel Core i5-6600 | Applies to a Windows PC, not Xbox hardware. |
| Memory | 8 GB RAM | System memory requirement for the PC build. |
| Graphics | NVIDIA GTX 970 | Discrete PC graphics requirement; no Xbox-equivalent specification is given. |
| Graphics API | DirectX 10 | Part of the Windows software environment. |
| Network | Broadband internet | Needed for the documented online co-op mode. |
| Storage | 1 GB available space | Minimum listed free space for the Steam installation. |
Meeting the minimum does not establish that every combination of settings, resolution, background software, or future Early Access update will perform identically. If your PC is close to the minimum, allow room for patches and close unnecessary applications before troubleshooting performance.
Does R.E.P.O. support Xbox-to-PC cross-play?
There is no documented cross-play path to use at present. The only officially described co-op environment is the Steam/Windows release, and no Xbox version or Xbox network service has been announced alongside it.
That means an Xbox owner cannot currently join a friend’s Steam session from an Xbox console through a published, supported feature. You should not assume that an Xbox purchase, a Microsoft account, or a PC copy automatically shares the same progression, lobby, or voice system. None of those details has been specified by semiwork.

| Players’ devices | Supported by the currently documented release? | Reason |
|---|---|---|
| Windows PC and Windows PC | Yes, within the Steam online co-op mode | The Steam listing describes online co-op for up to six players total. |
| Xbox console and Windows PC | Not documented | No Xbox build or cross-play details are published. |
| Xbox console and Xbox console | Not documented | No Xbox edition is documented. |
| Local split-screen on one system | Not documented | The supplied official listing describes online co-op, not local multiplayer. |
Remote-play, cloud-streaming, compatibility-layer, or other unofficial methods should not be presented as Xbox support. They may involve separate services, additional hardware, or account restrictions, and the official R.E.P.O. information does not establish that they work.

Semiwork’s official Q&A addresses whether consoles are planned. Its answer is:
“That is the current plan, but we won’t fully dig into it until we are on the homestretch and working on the 1.0 update.”
This is a statement of intent, not a launch announcement. It indicates that console support is part of the current plan, while also making clear that the team is postponing detailed discussion until development is close to the 1.0 update.
The statement does not provide:
- An Xbox release date or launch window.
- The Xbox models that would be supported.
- A price, purchase-transfer policy, or Game Pass agreement.
- Whether the console build would launch alongside version 1.0.
- Whether Xbox players could join Steam players.
- Cross-save, shared progression, achievements, or voice-chat details.
Until those items are published, the safest answer to “Is R.E.P.O. on Xbox yet?” remains no documented Xbox release, with console support planned in principle but not scheduled.
What the current Early Access build includes
The Steam listing describes the Early Access state as having four levels, 29 enemies, items, weapons, and upgrades. It also says the developers expect roughly a year and a half of Early Access. Those details describe the 2025 listing and can change as development continues.

Early Access has two practical implications for co-op groups:
- Features can move. Menus, matchmaking behavior, voice settings, level count, enemies, and progression may be revised in updates.
- Platform plans are not final. A planned console release can change in timing, scope, or supported features before 1.0.
For that reason, check the current official listing and semiwork announcements immediately before making a purchase or promising friends that Xbox support has arrived.
How to plan a six-player session
The documented maximum is six players, so a large group should organize around that limit rather than assuming unlimited teammates.
Before everyone launches
- Confirm that every participant is using the Windows/Steam version.
- Check that each PC meets the published minimum requirements.
- Confirm that everyone has broadband internet and a working microphone if the group intends to use proximity chat.
- Choose one person to start the session and handle invitations, while another player can act as the backup contact if someone disconnects.
When the session begins
- Verify that all intended players appear before starting the run; the documented cap is six total.
- Agree on short voice callouts and a regroup point.
- Keep track of who is carrying valuables and who is watching the route back to extraction.
- If a player cannot hear the group, test the operating-system microphone and the game’s audio settings before assuming the issue is a platform mismatch.
If a friend is on Xbox
Do not count that friend as a supported sixth player in a Steam lobby. The current documentation does not establish a way for an Xbox console to connect. The practical options are to have that person use a qualifying Windows PC or wait for an official console announcement with confirmed multiplayer details.

“It has an Xbox release date.”
No date is supplied by the official information. A console plan is not the same as a scheduled launch.
“Xbox players can join through cross-play.”
No cross-play feature is documented. Do not infer it from the existence of online co-op on Steam.

“The PC requirements also describe the Xbox version.”
They do not. Windows 10, Core i5-6600, 8 GB RAM, GTX 970, DirectX 10, broadband internet, and 1 GB storage are requirements for the Steam/Windows build.
“The game is finished because it launched in 2025.”
The February 26, 2025 release listing is an Early Access release. The store page describes ongoing development and an expected Early Access period of roughly a year and a half.
What to check if an Xbox version is announced
When semiwork publishes concrete console information, compare it with the Steam release using these points:
- Release timing: whether Xbox launches before, with, or after the 1.0 update.
- Supported consoles: which Xbox generations and storage requirements are included.
- Player limit: whether the six-player Steam limit remains the same.
- Online subscription: whether an Xbox multiplayer subscription is required.
- Cross-play: whether Xbox can connect to Steam/PC players, and whether cross-play is enabled by default or optional.
- Save and progression transfer: whether progress, unlocks, settings, and purchases move between platforms.
- Voice chat: whether proximity voice works across platforms and which privacy controls apply.
- Price and edition: whether the console version is sold separately and whether it remains in Early Access.
Those are the details needed to answer “How do I play with friends on Xbox?” accurately. Until they are published, the only fully documented co-op route is Windows PC through Steam.
Bottom line for Xbox players
R.E.P.O. is currently a Windows/Steam game with online co-op for up to six players total. An Xbox edition, Xbox release date, and cross-play arrangement have not been documented. Semiwork says console support is planned, but detailed discussion is being held until the project approaches its 1.0 update. To play now, use a Windows 10 PC that meets the listed minimum requirements and join your friends through the Steam version.
