You and a friend play on the same Nintendo Switch, Xbox, or PlayStation, using two controllers. The official listings do not document online multiplayer, internet matchmaking, private online rooms, LAN play, or cross-play, so there is no officially supported way to race together over the internet for this exact game.
Which Moto X this guide covers
This guide is for Moto X from Ratalaika Games, the modern-platform release of a motorcycle racer developed in 1994 and released digitally on October 16, 2026. It is available on Nintendo Switch, Xbox platforms, and PlayStation consoles.

What multiplayer does Moto X actually support?
Two players on one system
The supported multiplayer format is local play: two people share one console or computer display and race in split screen. Nintendo describes single-system play for one to two players and specifically identifies two-player split screen. Xbox lists local multiplayer and shared or split-screen play for two players. PlayStation lists one to two players, including two-player split screen and local multiplayer.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
All three console listings cap the mode at two players. There is no official indication that three or four riders can join the same race.
No officially documented online mode
The official Nintendo, Xbox, and PlayStation descriptions list local multiplayer and split-screen features but do not list online multiplayer, matchmaking, invite-based rooms, internet play, LAN play, or cross-platform play. Treat Moto X as a same-room multiplayer game unless a future product update or a revised store description explicitly adds an online feature.
How to play Moto X locally with a friend
- Use a supported platform. Choose Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, or a supported PlayStation 4 or PlayStation 5 version. The Xbox listing also names PC and handheld availability, but the two-player local feature is the relevant requirement for playing together.
- Install and launch the digital game. Moto X is presented in the official listings as a digital release. Start the game on the system where both players will sit.
- Prepare a second compatible controller. Pair or connect one controller for each racer. The store pages confirm two-player local support but do not publish a model-by-model controller list, so follow the normal controller-pairing process for your platform.
- Open the local or two-player option. From the game’s main menu, select the entry for two-player, local multiplayer, or split-screen racing. The listings confirm that the mode exists, but they do not document the exact menu wording or button prompts; the label may vary by platform or final software build.
- Have both players join. Use the second controller when the game asks for another player. If the second rider does not appear, return to the console’s controller screen, verify that the controller is assigned to a second user or guest, and re-enter the local mode.
- Choose the race settings. Select the available motorcycle, skill level, and track options. The game’s listed content includes 250cc, 550cc, and 750cc motorcycles, three skill levels, five tracks plus a bonus level per level, and power-ups.
- Start the race. The game places both riders in a shared split-screen race. Each player controls their own motorcycle on the same system; no internet connection or second copy on another console is required for this local mode.
Platform-by-platform multiplayer details
| Platform | Official local player count | Screen format | Online features documented | Other platform details |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Nintendo Switch | 1–2 players on one system | Two-player split screen | None in the official listing | Supports TV, tabletop, and handheld modes; local multiplayer is listed for up to two players |
| Xbox One / Xbox Series X|S | 2 players | Shared or split screen | None in the official listing | The listing also names PC and handheld availability |
| PlayStation 4 / PlayStation 5 | 1–2 players | Two-player split screen | None in the official listing | Digital versions are listed for both console generations |
The player counts describe the number of people who can play locally on one system, not a guaranteed online party size. Each platform’s published local maximum is two.

Playing on Nintendo Switch
What you need
- A Nintendo Switch version of Moto X.
- Two working controllers. A pair of Joy-Con controllers can be used only if each is recognized as an individual controller by the console; a second compatible controller is another option.
- A display suitable for the selected Switch mode. The listing supports TV, tabletop, and handheld modes, although two-player play is generally easiest to view on a television or tabletop display.
Switch setup
- Start the Switch and open Moto X.
- Before entering the race, press the controller pairing or change-grip controls on the Switch if the second controller is not already registered.
- Assign one controller to each local player. The console should show both inputs as active.
- Enter the game’s two-player or local multiplayer option and follow the on-screen join prompt.
- Select a motorcycle and track, then begin the split-screen race.
The Switch listing describes this as single-system multiplayer, so both riders use the same copy of the game on the same console. It does not describe a second-console connection, online invitation, or cross-play route.
Handheld and tabletop considerations
Switch supports TV, tabletop, and handheld modes according to the listing. In tabletop mode, place the console where both players can see it and use two separate controllers. Handheld mode can technically be used when the screen is visible to both people, but the small display may make split-screen racing harder to follow.
Playing on Xbox
What you need
- Moto X on Xbox One or Xbox Series X|S, or another Xbox-listed platform edition that supports the local mode.
- Two paired Xbox-compatible controllers.
- A single display and the same console or system for both players.
Xbox setup
- Turn on the Xbox and launch Moto X.
- Pair the second controller with the console if it is not already connected.
- Sign in the second controller as another local profile or a guest when the Xbox prompts you. The exact profile prompt can differ according to console settings.
- Open the local multiplayer or shared/split-screen option in Moto X.
- Use the second controller’s join prompt, select the race settings, and start the event.
The Xbox store description identifies local co-op or local multiplayer for two players and shared or split screen. That wording does not mean the game supports Xbox network matchmaking; no such online feature is listed for this title.

The official game descriptions name three motorcycle engine classes: 250cc, 550cc, and 750cc. They also list three skill levels, five tracks and a bonus level per level, and power-ups. Those elements give a local session several ways to vary the challenge:
- Engine class: Pick from 250cc, 550cc, or 750cc motorcycles when the selection screen allows it. Higher displacement may feel faster, but the listing does not publish separate speed, handling, or acceleration statistics.
- Skill level: Use one of the three listed difficulty levels to match the experience of both riders.
- Track selection: Race across the five named track slots and the bonus level associated with each level, subject to what the game unlocks or exposes in its menus.
- Power-ups: Use the listed power-up system as part of the head-to-head race. The store descriptions do not provide a complete item list or explain their effects, so consult the in-game prompts rather than relying on a generic racing-game control guide.

- Internet matchmaking
- Private online lobbies or room codes
- Friend invitations for remote races
- LAN multiplayer
- Cross-play between Switch, Xbox, PlayStation, PC, or handheld versions
That means you should not expect to invite a friend who owns the game on another console, connect two distant copies, or find a standard online matchmaking menu. Remote-play or game-streaming workarounds depend on the operating system and platform service rather than on an advertised Moto X online mode; they are not the same as built-in multiplayer and are not documented by the game’s official listings.

The second controller is not detected
- Check that the controller is powered on and paired with the same console running Moto X.
- Open the console’s controller-management screen and confirm that two inputs are assigned.
- For a guest account, accept the console’s local-player prompt before entering the race.
- Quit back to the main menu and reopen the two-player mode after connecting the controller.
- Restart the game if the second input still does not appear. The official listings do not specify a hot-join sequence, so re-entering the mode is safer than assuming a particular button combination.
The game shows one screen instead of split screen
Make sure you selected the two-player or local multiplayer entry rather than a one-player race. The official descriptions confirm split-screen support, but they do not publish the exact menu label. If the display remains single-player after both controllers are connected, return to the mode-selection screen and join the second player before choosing a track.
Both players can join, but the race will not start
- Verify that each controller is assigned to a separate local user or guest.
- Confirm that both players have completed the motorcycle, difficulty, or track selection prompt.
- Try a basic race with default settings before adding power-ups or changing difficulty.
- Close and relaunch the game if a previous session left an incomplete local lobby.
You cannot find an online menu
This is expected for the currently documented feature set. Nintendo, Xbox, and PlayStation listings describe local or split-screen play only. There is no published online lobby or matchmaking procedure to troubleshoot.
Best Value

- Powerful Pass-Through Charging: Supports up to 85W pass-through charging so you can power up your laptop while you use the hub. Note: Pass-through charging requires a charger (not included). Note: To achieve full power for iPad, we recommend using a 45W wall charger.
- Transfer Files in Seconds: Move files to and from your laptop at speeds of up to 5 Gbps via the USB-C and USB-A data ports. Note: The USB C 5Gbps Data port does not support video output.
- HD Display: Connect to the HDMI port to stream or mirror content to an external monitor in resolutions of up to 4K@30Hz. Note: The USB-C ports do not support video output.
- What You Get: Anker 332 USB-C Hub (5-in-1), welcome guide, our worry-free 18-month warranty, and friendly customer service.
How many copies and accessories are required?
For local play, both riders use one system and one copy of Moto X. The evidence does not require a special branded accessory, physical cartridge or disc, toy, model kit, or dedicated racing wheel. You do need two compatible controllers, because the local mode is designed for two simultaneous players.
The official descriptions do not state a specific controller model, minimum display resolution, internet speed, subscription requirement, or cross-platform accessory standard. Avoid buying hardware on the assumption that a particular wheel, adapter, or online service is required.
Quick decision guide
| If you want to… | Use this setup | What the official listing supports |
|---|---|---|
| Race beside a friend in the same room | One Switch, Xbox, or PlayStation with two controllers | Two-player local split screen |
| Play on a Switch without a television | Switch in tabletop or handheld mode with two controllers | Switch TV, tabletop, and handheld modes; local player count remains up to two |
| Invite a friend who lives elsewhere | Not available as a documented in-game mode | No official online multiplayer, matchmaking, private rooms, LAN, or cross-play listed |
| Put three or more riders in one race | Not supported by the listed player counts | All platform listings cap local play at two |
Bottom line for each platform
Nintendo Switch: Yes, two people can play locally on one system in split screen. The listing supports TV, tabletop, and handheld modes and up to two local players.
Xbox: Yes, two people can use local shared or split-screen play on the listed Xbox versions. The listing does not establish online multiplayer.
PlayStation: Yes, PS4 and PS5 versions list one to two players, two-player split screen, and local multiplayer. No online mode is documented.
Across platforms: The dependable way to play with a friend is to sit together at one system with two controllers. If you need internet multiplayer, wait for an explicit update or store-listing change that names that feature; it is not part of the currently documented release.
