LEGO Harry Potter Collection has a dedicated Nintendo Switch 2 edition listed for October 16, 2026. It combines remastered versions of LEGO Harry Potter: Years 1–4 and Years 5–7, includes the Character Pack and Spell Pack downloadable content, and supports TV, tabletop, and handheld play for one or two people on one console. Nintendo’s listing gives an estimated 13.7 GB download size, although Nintendo warns that preorder details can change.
This guide explains what is included, how to prepare your Switch 2, how local co-op works, what the gameplay loop involves, and how to handle controls responsibly. The official product pages describe spells, potions, exploration, obstacles, and puzzles, but they do not publish a Switch 2-specific button map. Use the on-screen prompts and the game’s manual or help screens for exact button assignments when the software is available.

What the Nintendo Switch 2 edition includes
The Switch 2 listing is for a dedicated version of the collection, not merely a promise that an older release will run through backward compatibility. Nintendo identifies WB Games as publisher and TT Games as developer. The package contains two complete story campaigns:
LEGO Harry Potter: Years 1–4
This campaign follows Harry’s first four school years in LEGO form. TT Games describes learning spells, brewing potions, exploring Hogwarts and other locations, and progressing cooperatively with a friend. The adventure mixes story scenes with exploration, character abilities, environmental interactions, and puzzles.

- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
LEGO Harry Potter: Years 5–7
The second campaign continues the seven-year story through the later books and films. WB Games describes the collection as a retelling of the full seven-year Harry Potter story with LEGO-style adventure and puzzle-solving. The official pages do not provide a chapter-by-chapter control tutorial, so the exact sequence of mechanics in a particular level can differ from the broad loop described here.
Included downloadable content
WB Games says the remastered collection includes the Character Pack and Spell Pack DLC. They are part of this collection rather than separate purchases described on the cited product page. The official listing does not provide a complete item-by-item roster in the material available for this guide.
For the authoritative package description, see the WB Games collection page and Nintendo’s Switch 2 product listing.

Release date and availability
Nintendo’s US and UK pages list October 16, 2026 as the Switch 2 release date. The supplied product information was captured on October 11, 2026, when that date was still in the future. Because storefront availability, regional listings, and preorder data can change, open the live Nintendo page for your country before downloading or purchasing. Do not assume that a visible older Nintendo Switch listing is the same product as the dedicated Switch 2 edition.
The UK page is useful for the local multiplayer requirement and regional wording: Nintendo UK’s LEGO Harry Potter Collection listing.

Choose how you will play
| Mode | What Nintendo lists | Practical setup |
|---|---|---|
| TV mode | Supported | Connect the Switch 2 to its dock and play on the television with compatible controllers. |
| Tabletop mode | Supported | Stand the console on a flat surface and use controllers separately from the screen. |
| Handheld mode | Supported | Play directly on the Switch 2 screen with the controls attached or otherwise connected as supported by the console. |
| Players | One to two on a single system | For two-player local play, Nintendo UK says each player needs one compatible controller. |
Nintendo’s US listing provides the mode and player information; it does not name a specific controller model in the cited material. If you intend to play co-op, confirm that both controllers are paired and recognized by the console before launching the game.
Prepare the console before starting
- Check the edition. In the Nintendo eShop or on the game card packaging, verify that the product is identified as the Nintendo Switch 2 version. The Switch 2 product page is here.
- Plan storage. Nintendo of America lists an estimated download size of 13.7 GB. Nintendo labels preorder information such as download size as subject to change, so treat 13.7 GB as an estimate rather than a guaranteed final install size. Check available console or microSD Express storage before beginning a digital download.
- Update the console. Install any system update offered by the Switch 2 before starting. This is a general preparation step, not a game-specific performance claim.
- Connect the controllers. For solo play, use the controller arrangement that feels comfortable in your chosen mode. For two players, make sure there is one compatible controller per player, as stated by Nintendo UK.
- Allow the complete installation. If the game is downloading, wait for the console to report that installation is finished before expecting all content to be available. A partial download may not represent the final playable state.
- Start from the game icon. Launch the collection from the Switch 2 HOME Menu and follow the opening prompts. The game’s own prompts are the reliable authority for initial selections and controls.
How the gameplay works
The official descriptions establish a repeatable adventure loop rather than a single button sequence. You move through story locations, interact with LEGO environments, use magical abilities, solve puzzles, and overcome obstacles. Progress then returns you to exploration or the next story event.
The Tool Desk
Outbyte Driver Updater FREEFix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Outbyte PC Repair FREERepair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Learn and use spells
TT Games identifies learning spells as a core activity in Years 1–4. Spells are used as problem-solving tools, not only as combat effects: a path may be blocked until the appropriate magical interaction is available. Watch the game’s on-screen prompt when an object or character can be targeted, and try the currently available spell when the environment signals that it is relevant.
Brew potions
Brewing potions is another explicitly described Years 1–4 activity. Treat potion stations and ingredients as part of the level’s puzzle language. If a route appears impossible, inspect nearby objects and characters before leaving the area; the intended solution may involve collecting or preparing something rather than finding a conventional key.
Explore Hogwarts and other locations
Hogwarts and other story locations provide the spaces in which the puzzles and objectives unfold. Explore side paths, rooms, and visible LEGO constructions instead of moving directly from one marker to the next. The official pages do not promise a particular map layout or a fixed number of collectibles, so use exploration to understand the current objective rather than assuming every area has the same checklist.

- Flawless 4K@60Hz Video with HDMI: Delivers exceptional clarity and smoothness with its 4K@60Hz HDMI port, making it ideal for high-definition presentations and entertainment. (Note: Only the HDMI port supports video projection; the USB-C port is for data transfer only.)
- Double Up on Efficiency: The two USB-A 3.0 ports and a USB-C port support a fast 5Gbps data rate, significantly boosting your transfer speeds and improving productivity.

Solve environmental puzzles
WB Games describes overcoming obstacles and solving puzzles throughout the collection. Read visual cues: unusual objects, sparkling or animated pieces, blocked passages, and characters who draw attention to a location are likely to matter. When a solution does not work, revisit the room and test whether a different character, spell, or potion is required.

TT Games says the stories can be played cooperatively with a friend. Cooperation is local on one Switch 2 system, not an online-player feature established by the cited pages. Keep both players near the active puzzle, communicate which object each person is examining, and avoid moving on until the other player has seen the relevant prompt.
A practical first-session walkthrough
The following sequence stays within the actions documented by the official descriptions while giving a useful way to begin.
- Select a story campaign. Choose whether to begin with Years 1–4 or the later Years 5–7 campaign from the game’s available story menu. If the game presents a different first-run flow, follow its on-screen instruction.
- Read every opening prompt. Do not skip instructions that identify movement, interaction, spell use, or character changes. Exact Switch 2 button assignments are not published in the cited sources, so the prompt on your screen is more reliable than a generic controller diagram.
- Survey the starting area. Walk around the immediate space and look for LEGO objects, blocked routes, potion-related equipment, and characters who can be addressed. This establishes what the level considers interactive.
- Test the current spell or interaction. When an object reacts to your character, use the command shown by the game. If nothing happens, move closer, change your angle, or look for another object that explains the intended sequence.
- Collect what the level presents. Gather visible ingredients or components when the game identifies them as useful. Brewing is a named mechanic, but the cited material does not specify ingredient recipes; rely on the in-game instructions rather than a memorized list.
- Work through the obstacle. Try the spell, potion, or environmental action that matches the visual clue. In two-player mode, have one player operate the discovered interaction while the other watches for a newly opened path.
- Follow the story transition. Once the puzzle or obstacle is cleared, continue toward the next prompt or story scene. Save or pause only through the commands the game displays; this guide does not assume a particular menu button.
- Recheck the objective if stuck. Return to the last room, inspect unexplored corners, and look for a character or object that has not been used. The official descriptions support this exploratory approach but do not publish a universal solution order for every level.
Controls: what is confirmed and what is not
No official Switch 2 control map or game manual was available in the cited product and developer pages. Consequently, this guide does not assign buttons for movement, casting, switching characters, interacting, jumping, pausing, or opening menus. A button layout copied from another platform could be wrong on Switch 2.
Use this method instead:
- Read the control prompt the first time the game introduces an action.
- Pause and open the in-game help, options, or manual screen if the software provides one.
- Look for the game’s printed or digital manual supplied with your purchase.
- If a prompt disappears too quickly, repeat the nearby action and watch the lower corners of the screen for the reminder.
- Do not infer a control from a different LEGO game, an older Nintendo Switch release, or a different controller configuration.
Nintendo’s generic compatibility information explains how Switch games relate to Switch 2, but it does not provide game-specific controls: Nintendo’s Switch and Switch 2 compatibility guidance.

Playing alone versus playing with two people
Solo play
One player can complete the collection on a single system. Solo play is the simplest setup: choose TV, tabletop, or handheld mode, use one compatible controller arrangement, and follow the game’s prompts. You can pause your session when the software offers its pause command.
Two-player local co-op
Nintendo lists one to two players on one system, and Nintendo UK specifies one compatible controller per player. This means a second participant needs their own recognized controller; the listing does not identify a particular model. Pair and test the second controller before entering a story level, then confirm that both characters respond independently.
Co-op is most useful when one player examines the environment while the other watches the character or object being tested. If progress stops, stop moving both characters at once: have one player remain near the objective while the other searches the immediate area for a spell, potion station, or alternate route.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Download size, storage, and installation decisions
The only published size in the cited material is Nintendo of America’s estimated 13.7 GB for the Switch 2 download. Because Nintendo warns that preorder details may not be final, leave additional free space instead of planning around exactly 13.7 GB. The final requirement can differ after release or after an update.

Do not confuse the Switch 2 edition with backward compatibility
Nintendo says Switch 2 can play compatible physical and digital Nintendo Switch games, while warning that some Switch titles may not be supported or fully compatible. That general policy is separate from the dedicated Switch 2 product listing for LEGO Harry Potter Collection. A previous Switch release, if you own one, should not be treated as automatically identical to the Switch 2 edition.
For compatibility questions about another Switch game, consult Nintendo’s support article. For this collection, start with the product page that explicitly names Nintendo Switch 2 and check your regional listing.
Troubleshooting by symptom
The game is not visible after purchase
- Confirm that you are using the Nintendo account and console profile associated with the purchase.
- Check the HOME Menu and the eShop’s redownload area.
- Verify that the transaction is for the Switch 2 edition, not a different platform listing.
- Check Nintendo’s regional product page for release and availability changes.
The download will not start
- Check free storage against the estimated 13.7 GB requirement and leave extra room because Nintendo describes the figure as subject to change.
- Confirm that the console is connected to the internet and that the account can access the eShop.
- Restart the download from the HOME Menu if the console reports an interrupted transfer.
The second player cannot join
- Make sure there is one compatible controller for each player, as Nintendo UK requires.
- Pair or attach the second controller before launching the level again.
- Look for the game’s on-screen join prompt; do not assume a button from another LEGO title.
You do not know which button to press
- Stop at the prompt and read the icon carefully.
- Open the in-game help or manual if available.
- Check the supplied game documentation after release.
- Do not rely on an unofficial control chart, because the official sources cited here do not establish a Switch 2 button map.
A puzzle appears impossible
- Inspect the whole room for an unused LEGO construction or character interaction.
- Try the spell or potion mechanic introduced most recently.
- Move both co-op characters close to the objective and test one interaction at a time.
- Revisit the previous area if the story has not advanced; a blocked route may require an earlier action.
What the official information does not establish
The available Nintendo, WB Games, and TT Games pages do not establish a Switch 2 frame-rate target, resolution, graphics mode, performance comparison with the earlier Switch release, online multiplayer, a complete control chart, or a universal step-by-step solution for every puzzle. They also do not provide a final guaranteed download size beyond Nintendo’s 13.7 GB estimate. Those details should be checked in the released game, its manual, or a later official update rather than guessed from another platform.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesQuick start checklist
- Confirm the dedicated Nintendo Switch 2 edition and regional release status.
- Reserve more than the listed estimated 13.7 GB if downloading digitally.
- Choose TV, tabletop, or handheld mode.
- For co-op, prepare one compatible controller per player.
- Start with Years 1–4 or Years 5–7 and read the game’s opening prompts.
- Use spells, potions, exploration, and environmental puzzle-solving as the core progression loop.
- Use on-screen prompts or the in-game manual for exact controls; no authoritative Switch 2 button map is published in the cited sources.
The Bottom Line
To play LEGO Harry Potter Collection on Nintendo Switch 2, install the dedicated edition, choose TV, tabletop, or handheld mode, and begin either the Years 1–4 or Years 5–7 campaign. The collection includes both remastered games plus the Character Pack and Spell Pack DLC, supports one or two local players, and is listed at an estimated 13.7 GB. For exact button assignments, follow the released game’s own prompts or manual rather than assuming controls from another version.
