The Steam store listing identifies Remote Play Together. That Steam feature captures a local multiplayer session on the host computer and streams it to another participant over the internet. It does not automatically mean the game has online lobbies, dedicated servers, matchmaking, or cross-platform play.
Do not plan on an account-based online mode unless a later update or platform listing explicitly adds one. The currently documented choices are local co-op on supported hardware and Steam Remote Play Together on the PC version.
How to start a local two-player session
The sources confirm that local co-op exists but do not publish a verified sequence such as a particular title-screen button, “press start to join” prompt or in-level join command. Use this as a preparation checklist rather than an official button-by-button walkthrough.

How Steam Remote Play Together differs from online co-op

Stage-count wording differs between the current listings. Nintendo describes “over 13” levels, while the current Limited Run preorder copy says 13 stages. A separate general product description has used a different count, so do not treat the number as settled beyond the wording of the current official pages. The safest description is that the game contains more than a dozen stages, with Nintendo and the current preorder page using the specific phrases above.
Practical setup for a couch co-op night
Before opening the game
- Charge both controllers and update the console or PC platform software.
- Decide whether the session will use TV or tabletop play. Tabletop play requires a stable surface and a stand position that both people can see.
- Check that the display, seating and controller cables leave enough room for two players.
- Keep a single-player controller available in case the game requires a full controller for menu navigation.

Remote Play Together is unavailable
Remote Play Together applies to the Steam listing. It will not appear on Switch, PlayStation or Xbox. On PC, confirm that the current Steam page still lists the feature and that the host is running the Steam version rather than a different PC build. A missing feature does not imply that the console versions support native online play.
