Cyberpunk 2077 does not have a built-in guitar career. The practical way to add one is to choose between a structured questline and a free-play guitar weapon. A third mod adds an ambient Johnny Silverhand appearance but does not give V a playable instrument.

Which one should you install?
Choose Guitar Gigs Across Night City when the appeal is a musician storyline: you want missions, venues, dialogue and decisions that lead to more performances. Choose Play Your Songs when the priority is picking up a guitar during ordinary free roam and selecting your own soundtrack. Add Here’s Johnny only when you want Johnny’s apartment appearances; it is a character-event mod, not another way for V to perform.

The two playable-guitar options solve different problems. The questline can make venues persistent after their missions, while the weapon mod supplies the instrument outside those gigs. The quest listing calls the weapon mod optional, so a quest-only installation does not require adding free-play functionality.

Read the requirements panel immediately before installing, not only the description copied into a guide. Frameworks can receive updates, old files can remain available, and a requirement can change after a game patch. The safest sequence is to note the game version, open every linked requirement, and use the files the author currently marks as compatible.

Why a clean save helps

Troubleshoot the common failure points
The quest does not appear
- Confirm that Phantom Liberty is installed on the same PC game installation.
- Open Vortex’s Mods section and verify that the questline and all six named frameworks are enabled.
- Recheck the live requirements panel for a changed dependency version.
- Look at the current posts or version listing when the main description and file label disagree.
- Make sure you are testing the save on the installation where Vortex deployed the files; a second game copy will not automatically share the setup.
The game fails to launch after installation
