Gears of War: E-Day is available on Xbox Series X|S and Windows PC, with PC copies sold through Xbox/Microsoft Store and Steam. As of October 3, 2026, early access is live for eligible Premium Edition buyers and Game Pass members with the Premium Upgrade. Everyone else can start at the worldwide launch on October 6 at 8:00 a.m. PT (15:00 UTC). You can also access the game through Game Pass Ultimate or PC Game Pass at launch.
Choose where and how you want to play
The right route depends on whether you play on console or PC, already have Game Pass, and want one purchase to cover both Xbox console and Xbox PC. Xbox/Microsoft Store and Steam are separate PC storefronts; a Steam purchase is not an Xbox console entitlement.

The Coalition announced that early access began worldwide on October 1, 2026, at 8:00 a.m. PT (15:00 UTC), and that the worldwide launch is October 6 at the same time. As of October 3, only eligible early-access players can start. The Xbox Wire launch announcement gives the release timing.

What do the editions and subscriptions include?
The Xbox product page captured for this article lists US prices of $69.99 for Standard Edition, $99.99 for Premium Edition, and $30 for the Premium Upgrade for Standard owners. These prices can change and may differ by country; check the storefront at purchase.
Premium adds up to five days of early access, the Bravo Squad Signature Weapon Pack, five seasonal customization packs beginning with the Emergence Pack, and 1,000 Iron. The upgrade is for Standard owners; Game Pass subscribers seeking early access should check the Premium Upgrade listing rather than assume their subscription alone provides it.

- PREMIUM EDITION — Includes Bravo Squad Signature Weapon Pack, five Seasonal Customization Packs starting with the Emergence Pack, plus 1,000 Iron to unlock additional in‑game content.

Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass include the game at its October 6 launch. That is separate from multiplayer access requirements: the official Gears of War FAQ says online multiplayer at launch requires Game Pass Essential or higher. A subscription that grants access to the game and a subscription requirement for online multiplayer answer different questions.
What Xbox Play Anywhere means—and what it does not
Xbox describes Play Anywhere as enabling play across Xbox Series X|S and PC with shared progression and achievements. This applies to purchases in the Xbox ecosystem, not automatically to a Steam purchase. If you want a single purchase usable on both an Xbox console and Xbox PC, choose the Xbox/Microsoft Store route and confirm the Play Anywhere entitlement on that product listing before checkout.
Rank #3
- Disc only. Original case and manual not included. Will come packaged in a generic case.
- This renewed game has been cleaned, tested, and shows minimal wear.
Steam remains a straightforward way to play on PC, but its purchase is separate. Do not buy on Steam expecting a console copy or shared Xbox Store entitlement.
How to play with friends across platforms
Xbox lists a solo campaign, two-player split-screen co-op on console, online campaign co-op for up to four players, Horde Siege PvE, and Versus PvP. The August beta FAQ’s reference to 4v4 Versus describes the beta; it should not be treated as a complete specification of every launch mode.
Steam players do not need an Xbox account just to play. The official FAQ says an Xbox account must be linked to send cross-platform squad invitations. To link it, open the in-game social pane and choose Link Account. Account linking for invitations is distinct from simply launching the Steam game.

Check PC requirements before installing
Xbox Wire published final PC specifications on September 17, 2026, and noted that the specification image was updated on September 28. The CPU, graphics, memory, and storage values are in that image rather than readable article text here, so check the current image in the official PC specifications announcement before deciding whether your PC meets the requirements.

The August beta FAQ recommended an SSD and current graphics drivers, and said HDDs were unsupported for the beta and could cause loading, asset, stuttering, and crash problems. That is beta guidance, not a substitute for the final launch requirements.
Cloud access and optional extras
The October 1 Xbox Wire announcement names Game Pass Ultimate and GeForce NOW for cloud gaming. Availability depends on region and provider terms; check the current provider page rather than assuming the game is available to stream everywhere.
A controller, art book, or Collector’s Edition is not required to play. The Collector’s Edition announcement describes physical Xbox Series X and Steam versions with collectibles; quantities are limited and availability varies by region.
