If you are choosing for more than two people, Gears 5 supports three campaign players, while Judgment supports up to four online but only two locally according to the Xbox listing. Check the exact product listing for a legacy game before relying on its platform support, player count, or present-day online service behavior.
Play local split-screen
Split-screen means playing locally on one supported console, with each player using a controller. For Reloaded, the Xbox listing confirms two-player local co-op and shared/split-screen play; Xbox Wire says campaign split-screen is not available on PC or handhelds.

Play campaign co-op online
Choose the campaign co-op option and invite the other player through the game or platform’s supported online flow. For Reloaded, the campaign supports two players; its separate Versus mode supports up to eight. The eight-player figure is not the campaign co-op limit.
Reloaded supports cross-play across platforms. Xbox Wire says Microsoft account sign-in is not required for basic play, but is needed for cross-platform invites and cross-progression. On Xbox console, online multiplayer requires Xbox Game Pass Essential, Premium, or Ultimate, sold separately; verify current Xbox terms before playing because service requirements can change.

- For console split-screen: select a listing that explicitly supports local or shared/split-screen co-op.
- For PC or handheld play: do not expect Reloaded campaign split-screen; use an online setup instead if it suits your group.
- For cross-platform invites in Reloaded: sign in with a Microsoft account.
- For online play on Xbox console: make sure the required qualifying Game Pass subscription is active, and check Microsoft’s current subscription terms.
