To play Fortnite Festival’s rhythm mode, launch Fortnite, open Discover, and choose Festival Main Stage. Select a song part, then press the matching inputs as notes reach the targets on the highway; keep holding for long notes. Choose Jam Stage to mix musical loops or Battle Stage to compete for score.
Start a Festival session
- Launch Fortnite and open Discover.
- Choose Festival Main Stage for rhythm gameplay, Festival Jam Stage for loops and mixing, or Battle Stage for competition if it is available. The experiences offered can change. Epic says Festival is free to play and does not require a separate download; availability can vary by platform or region. See Epic’s access and platform FAQ.
- On Main Stage, use Backstage to choose a song part and arrange your setlist, then begin the performance.
Epic’s Festival overview describes Main Stage setlists of up to four Jam Tracks. As notes reach their targets, press the corresponding input on time; hold it through sustained notes. More accurate play builds the star meter, with up to five stars per song.

Controls: use the bindings for your setup
Check Fortnite’s current settings for the bindings that match your platform, input method, and selected song part. Epic’s overview explains the basic timing mechanic but does not give a universal current default binding table for standard parts such as Lead, Bass, Drums, and Vocals. Bindings can differ or change, so do not assume an older list is current.

These parts use colored fret inputs and strumming. Epic’s May 2024 v30.00 update said players could use Pro Lead and Pro Bass on console or PC without a supported guitar controller, and that PC players could customize keyboard-and-mouse bindings.

That update listed the following PC defaults: keys 1–5 for green through orange fret notes, Right Shift and Enter to strum, Page Down for Overdrive, and Right Ctrl for whammy. These are defaults documented in a 2024 update, not a guarantee of today’s settings. To play a regular note, hold its fret-color input and strum at the right time.
Optional microphone and drum-kit features
Epic’s April 15, 2026 Season 14 announcement introduced Mic Vocals, which lets players sing in real time using a microphone that works in Fortnite on PC or console, and Pro Drums, which supports a Rock Band 4 or compatible MIDI drum kit. These are optional, feature-specific ways to play; the announcement does not provide confirmed device models or a platform-by-platform compatibility list.

Getting songs and building a setlist
The playable songs are called Jam Tracks. Epic describes several ways to access them: unlock tracks through the Festival Season Pass, purchase them in Fortnite’s shop, play tracks in the featured rotation while they are available for free, or add a track owned by someone in your party to a shared setlist. The in-game library and shop show current availability; rotations and prices can change.
A Main Stage setlist can hold up to four Jam Tracks. Tracks in your locker can also provide loops for Jam Stage.

Choose the mode that fits what you want to do

Jam Stage: mix rather than chase notes
Use tracks in your locker to perform loops, combine parts, and adjust the musical feel. Epic’s April 2026 Season 14 update added Jam Ring movement and a Quick Mix interface. Jam Stage is about creating a group mix, not following the Main Stage note highway.
Battle Stage: score and survive
Epic’s June 2024 Battle Stage rules announcement described public matches starting with up to 16 players. Players select a song part and difficulty, compete on the same track, and lower scorers are eliminated until one winner remains. A January 2025 update announced part-only variants for Lead, Drums, Vocals, and Bass. Specific rules and availability are version-sensitive, so check the mode currently shown in Discover.
