For most players, the simplest way to play Croc: Legend of the Gobbos on a modern Windows PC is to get the current PC remaster from Steam or GOG. The original 1997 PC release is a separate option, but current Windows compatibility and setup instructions for it are not established by the official sources cited here.
Choose the PC remaster on Steam or GOG
Both Steam and GOG list a PC edition of Croc: Legend of the Gobbos. Steam lists the game as Croc Legend of the Gobbos, published by Argonaut Games and developed by Titanium Studios and Big Boat Interactive, with an October 17, 2025 release date. Check the Steam listing and the GOG listing for current edition and purchase details, which can change.

The official listings establish that both storefronts offer PC editions, but they do not establish that one storefront is better for every player. What the remaster changes
Steam describes the PC edition as a remaster of the 1997 game, advertising HD graphics, an updated camera, modern control mechanics, and retro video modes. These are product features as described by the listing, not independently tested gameplay results.

If you want the original 1997 PC release
The original release is not the same edition as the current PC remaster. The official materials cited here do not provide current Windows compatibility instructions or guarantee that the 1997 PC build will run on a modern Windows installation. They also do not establish a verified emulator, compatibility layer, unofficial patch, or setup procedure for that version. If authenticity is your priority, verify compatibility and a legitimate copy for your exact system before relying on it.

Keep the Croc 2 announcement separate
Argonaut Games announced on October 1, 2026 that development of the Croc 2: Kingdom of the Gobbos remaster was complete, with a digital launch planned for October 29, 2026, including Windows PC. That announcement concerns the sequel, not the original Croc: Legend of the Gobbos remaster discussed here. See Argonaut Games’ press announcements for the publisher’s latest information.
