As of 16 October 2026, The Case of the Golden Idol is available for Android through Google Play and carries a Play Pass badge. If you have an eligible Play Pass subscription, open Google Play, search for the exact title, confirm that the publisher is Playstack and that the Play Pass label is visible, then tap Install. If the badge does not appear, availability is probably being limited by your country, Google account, billing profile or app versions.
Is The Case of the Golden Idol on Google Play Pass?
Yes. The current Android listing for The Case of the Golden Idol shows a Play Pass badge, and Playstack announced on 16 October 2026 that subscribers could play the game as part of their subscription. That current store evidence is more useful than older platform information elsewhere.

The franchise’s official where-to-buy page still reports that no product is available for Google Play. That statement is stale platform metadata: it conflicts with the live Google Play listing and Playstack’s same-day announcement. For installation, use the listing that appears in Google Play rather than relying on the older franchise page.

What you need before installing
Check these conditions before troubleshooting the store listing. Play Pass eligibility is evaluated by Google Play, not by the game itself.
| Requirement | What to verify | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Android version | Android 4.4 or newer | Google lists this as a Play Pass device requirement. |
| Google Play Store | Version 16.6.25 or newer | An older Play Store build can prevent current Play Pass catalog information from appearing correctly. |
| Country | Your country must support Play Pass | The catalog is country-specific and can change over time. |
| Payment method | A valid payment method on the Google account | Google requires one for Play Pass subscription eligibility, even when a particular game is included. |
| Billing location | Billing country matches your Google Play country | A mismatch can make subscription and catalog eligibility fail. |
| Account type | A personal Google account | Work and school Google accounts cannot subscribe to Play Pass. |
These checks do not guarantee that the game will be in your catalog. They establish that your device and account can use Play Pass; Google can still vary the catalog by region or change it later.
Install the Android version through Google Play Pass
- Open Google Play Store. Use the Play Store app on the Android device where you want to play.
- Search for the exact title. Enter The Case of the Golden Idol. Avoid similarly named results or unofficial downloads.
- Open the Playstack listing. Check that the publisher shown on the details page is Playstack and that the icon and title match the game you intend to install.
- Check for the Play Pass badge. Google’s Play Pass Help guidance says that an included app displays the Play Pass logo at the top of its details page. Do not assume inclusion merely because you have a subscription; confirm the badge on this listing.
- Tap Install. With an active, eligible Play Pass subscription, Google Play installs the game through your account. Follow any normal Android download or permission prompts.
- Launch from the installed app. After installation, open it from the Play Store’s Open button or from the app drawer. Your Play Pass entitlement is checked by Google Play rather than by an APK downloaded from another site.
If search results are confusing, use the official Google Play listing reached from Playstack or Google’s own store pages. The important checks remain the publisher, exact title and visible Play Pass logo.

What the Google Play listing includes
The listing presents the game as a point-and-click detective puzzle adventure and uses the description “TRY BEFORE YOU BUY – MURDER MYSTERY DETECTIVE PUZZLE.” It says that one purchase unlocks 12 scenarios and 6 bonus cases. It also states that the uninterrupted detective journey has no ads or extra in-app purchases. The listing names the expansions The Spider of Lanka and The Lemurian Vampire.
Those statements describe the current store listing, not a promise that every regional Play Pass catalog displays identical content or wording. If you later buy the game separately, read the purchase screen in your country to confirm exactly which scenarios, bonus cases and expansions are included.
The listing was updated on 12 October 2026. It carries a Teen content rating for violence and blood. At the time of the reported store check it showed 10k+ downloads and a 4.4-star rating. Download totals, star ratings and review counts change continuously, so treat those figures as a dated snapshot rather than a permanent specification.

Why the Play Pass badge may be missing
A missing badge usually means Google Play does not currently recognize the title as included for the account and country being used. Work through the causes in this order.
Country or catalog variation
Google explicitly makes Play Pass availability country-dependent. A move, travel connection, recently changed Play country or a catalog update can change what appears. Confirm the country associated with your Google Play profile and billing account. Do not use a virtual location to try to force a different catalog; the subscription and billing country still have to match.
Account eligibility
Make sure the Play Store is signed in to the personal Google account that owns the Play Pass subscription. A work or school account cannot subscribe, and switching between accounts on one phone can make the badge appear to vanish. Open the account switcher in Google Play and select the account used for the subscription before searching again.

Subscription or payment status
Play Pass access depends on an active subscription. A failed renewal, canceled plan or invalid payment method can remove subscription benefits even if the game remains installed. Correct the payment issue in Google Play, then reopen the game’s store page. A valid payment method is one of Google’s stated Play Pass requirements.
Outdated Play Store
Check that Google Play Store is version 16.6.25 or newer. Update it through the Play Store’s app-management or system-update controls, restart the device, and search again. The exact update screen can differ by Android version, but the version number is visible in the Play Store app’s settings or app-information page.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesStale store data
If your country, account and subscription are correct but the page still looks wrong, close Google Play completely and reopen it. Sign out only if necessary, because removing an account can affect other purchases and synchronization on the device. Rechecking the listing after the Play Store refreshes is safer than installing an unofficial package.

Catalog change
Play Pass titles can be added or removed. The badge may disappear because Google changed the catalog after the 16 October 2026 announcement, even though the game was included earlier. In that case, the separate purchase option on the current listing is the authoritative route for continued access.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Play Pass access versus buying the Android game
| Consideration | Play Pass | Separate purchase |
|---|---|---|
| How you start | Maintain an eligible Play Pass subscription and install while the title is included. | Buy the Android listing directly through Google Play. |
| Up-front cost for this title | No separate game purchase while your active subscription includes it; subscription terms and price are set by Google for your country. | A one-time purchase is required; the current regional price must be checked on the store page. |
| Catalog risk | Google can remove or change titles, and availability varies by country. | Access is tied to the purchase, subject to Google Play’s normal account and platform policies. |
| Ads and in-app purchases | Google describes Play Pass as providing included apps without ads or in-app purchases; individual listing terms still control the content shown. | The listing says its one-purchase model has no ads or extra in-app purchases for the uninterrupted detective journey. |
| Best fit | Players who already subscribe and want to try the game without another purchase. | Players who do not want to maintain a subscription or want protection against a future catalog removal. |
The separate-purchase price is not stated in the available listing information, so check Google Play for the amount shown in your currency. Likewise, do not assume that a Play Pass subscription transfers between countries; Google controls eligibility by country and account.
What happens if the game leaves Play Pass?
Google says that when a paid app leaves Play Pass, subscribers may be able to keep using it for a limited period before they must buy it separately. The exact grace period is not fixed in the information available here, so do not treat continued access after removal as permanent.
If your Play Pass subscription ends, Google says the installed apps and their data remain on the device. Paid content can then prompt you to purchase the app, and ads or in-app purchases can return where the app supports them. Uninstalling the game does not restore Play Pass access; you would need an active eligible subscription or a separate purchase.
If you are partway through a case, avoid assuming that an installed icon proves ongoing entitlement. Open the listing while signed in to the purchasing account and read the current purchase or Play Pass status before deleting the app or changing accounts.
Safe installation and account checks
- Use the Google Play listing published by Playstack, not an old third-party APK. An APK from an unknown source may be modified, outdated or unrelated to your Play Pass entitlement.
- Confirm the exact title and publisher before tapping Install. Similar names and fan-made packages are not substitutes for the official listing.
- Keep the Google account that owns Play Pass on the device while installing and launching. Switching accounts can change the catalog view.
- Do not infer inclusion from a website’s old platform table. The live store badge and current Playstack announcement are the relevant evidence for the 16 October 2026 availability claim.
- Review the store’s current content and purchase screen if you need the expansions or bonus cases. Store descriptions and catalog benefits can change by region.
Quick troubleshooting checklist
| Symptom | Likely explanation | Action |
|---|---|---|
| No Play Pass logo on the listing | Country, account, subscription, version or catalog issue | Verify all requirements, switch to the subscribing personal account, update Play Store, then search again. |
| Game appears but Install is unavailable | Device or account is not currently eligible, or the title changed status | Check Android and Play Store versions, subscription status and the current listing’s purchase options. |
| Play Pass works for other apps but not this game | The title may not be included in your country or may have left the catalog | Use the badge on this specific listing as the decision point; catalog membership is title- and country-specific. |
| Installed game asks for payment | Subscription ended, title left Play Pass or a different Google account is active | Check the account and subscription in Google Play. Buy the game separately only if you want to continue and the listing offers that option. |
| Ads or in-app purchase prompts appear after access changes | Play Pass benefits are no longer being applied | Confirm active Play Pass entitlement; Google says those monetization features can return after a subscription ends. |
| Old website says Android is unavailable | Outdated platform metadata | Follow the current Google Play listing and Playstack’s 16 October 2026 announcement instead. |
Bottom line for Android players
The Case of the Golden Idol is currently a Play Pass title on Android, based on the Playstack announcement dated 16 October 2026 and the live Google Play badge. Install it from the Playstack listing, verify the Play Pass logo first, and keep your Android version, Play Store version, country, billing profile and personal Google account eligible. Because Google can change the catalog by country, the badge on your own store page—not an older franchise page—is the final test of whether your subscription includes the game.
