ARC Raiders lets PlayStation, Xbox, and PC players team up through cross-platform social play. From the lobby, use Social > Friends > Add Friend to send a request with a player’s Embark ID, then use the + icon above the play widget to invite accepted friends into your party. If you just completed a round together, you can skip friending and invite that player from Social > Recent.
The important distinction is between a friend request and a party invitation. A friend request creates a lasting connection after the recipient accepts it; a party invitation puts the player into the current pre-raid group. You must complete the second step, even after a friend request has been accepted.

Does ARC Raiders support crossplay?
Yes. The official ARC Raiders site describes the game as supporting “seamless social play across PlayStation, Xbox, and PC.” That is the broad platform statement for social play.

There is no separate “crossplay mode” that you select when creating a party. Instead, each player’s crossplay setting affects matchmaking, and the most restrictive setting in the party applies to the group.
What crossplay means for your squad
Crossplay concerns the matchmaking pool, while the Social menu handles identity and invitations. You can therefore see a player, send a request, or invite a recent teammate even when the eventual queue is restricted by a crossplay setting. Do not treat a successful friend connection as proof that the party is ready to enter a mixed-platform match.
For example, a PC player can add a PlayStation friend with the friend’s Embark ID, and the two can appear together in the lobby. If either party member has crossplay disabled, however, the party’s queue follows that narrower setting. The social connection still exists; the matchmaking scope is what changes.
The platform descriptions also use two levels of detail. The homepage gives the broad PlayStation, Xbox, and PC statement, while the support FAQ explicitly calls out Steam, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. Epic Games Store and GeForce NOW appear in the current platform listing, but that listing alone does not establish identical account-linking or queue behavior for every version.
What you need before inviting someone
Have the following ready before opening the menus:
- An installed, up-to-date copy of ARC Raiders on a supported platform.
- Your own Embark account and the other player’s exact Embark ID.
- Both players online and at the game lobby rather than inside an active round.
- Crossplay enabled for everyone who needs to queue into a cross-platform match.
- A server selection that is suitable for the party; Automatic is Embark’s recommended troubleshooting choice when matchmaking is slow.
An Embark ID is the identifier used by the in-game friend system. A platform gamertag or Steam display name is not necessarily the same identifier, so ask your friend to copy the name shown in ARC Raiders if a search fails.
It also helps to agree in advance who will send the request and who will send the party invitation. Either player can use the Social tools, but having one person coordinate avoids duplicate requests and invitations. Keep the exact spelling, spaces, punctuation, and any suffix in the ID; a nearly correct name can point to a different account or return no result.
If you are reconnecting with someone from a previous match, do not spend time searching for an ID first. Check Social > Recent. That list can take you directly to a party invitation, and you can send a friend request from the same entry if you want a permanent connection.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Understand the three separate steps
- Find the account. Use an Embark ID in the Friends tab, or select a player already shown in Recent.
- Establish the social connection. The Embark ID route sends a friend request that the other player must accept. The Recent route can skip that request for a one-time party invitation.
- Build the current party. Use the lobby plus icon, select the player, and wait for the party invitation to be accepted before launching.
These steps solve different problems. A friend request does not automatically place someone in your current party, and a Recent invitation does not automatically create a lasting friend entry. Checking which step has failed is faster than repeatedly changing matchmaking settings.
Add a friend with an Embark ID
Use this route when the player is not already in your recent-player list or when you want a persistent friend connection for future sessions.

- From the lobby, select Social in the bottom-right corner.
- Open the Friends tab.
- Select Add Friend in the upper-right of the menu.
- Enter the other player’s Embark ID exactly as displayed and select Add Friend.
- Ask the other player to open their social notifications and accept the request.
The request does not add the player immediately. They must accept it first; only then will the account appear in your friends list for regular invitations.
If the other player is not online, the request can remain pending until they return and accept it. You do not need to keep resending it; first confirm that the ID was entered correctly and ask the recipient to check for the pending request. Once accepted, both players can use the friend entry for later party invitations instead of repeating the ID search.

Once the request has been accepted, create the party from the lobby before starting a round.
- Locate the circular + icon above the lobby’s play widget.
- Select the friend you want to invite. The same picker can include eligible recent players.
- Send the party invitation.
- Wait for the player to accept. Their character should then appear in your party.
- Confirm that every intended teammate is listed before launching the round.
Embark’s instructions specifically place party formation before starting a round. If you launch first, the teammate who was still considering the invitation will not automatically be inserted into that match.
Use the party panel as your final readiness check. Seeing a name in the Friends list proves only that the social connection exists; seeing the character in the party panel confirms that the invitation was accepted for this session. If the panel is incomplete, cancel the launch and send a fresh invitation rather than assuming the player will join after the round begins.
Invite a recent teammate without adding them first
ARC Raiders keeps a Recent list for players from your recent rounds. This is useful when you had a good run with a stranger, lost track of their Embark ID, or want to play one more round before sending a formal friend request.
Free tools Windows power users keep installed

- In the lobby, open Social at the bottom-right.
- Switch to Recent.
- Select the player from the recent-round list.
- Choose Invite to Party.
- Have the player accept the invitation; they will join the current party without first becoming a friend.
The Recent entry also offers a friend-request option. Use that separate action if you want the player to remain available in your friends list after the recent-round entry is no longer useful.
Recent is best treated as a quick reconnect tool, not a replacement for a friend list. If you expect to play together again, send the friend request while the entry is visible. That gives you a second way to find the player after the Recent entry has rotated out.
Two official ways to reconnect
| Situation | Menu path | What happens | Creates a friend request? |
|---|---|---|---|
| You know the player’s Embark ID but have not played together recently | Social > Friends > Add Friend | The player receives a request and must accept it. You can then invite them from the lobby + icon. | Yes |
| You just shared a round and the player appears in your history | Social > Recent > Invite to Party | The player receives a party invitation directly, without waiting for a friend request. | No, unless you separately choose the friend-request action |
These are not competing crossplay systems. They are two entry points into the same party workflow: Embark ID for a known player and Recent for someone you have just encountered.

What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
How crossplay settings affect a party
Every party member’s crossplay preference matters. Embark says the most restrictive party member’s setting controls the queue for the entire party. For example, if three players have crossplay enabled but one player has it disabled, the party queues with crossplay disabled.
This rule can explain why a mixed-platform group suddenly sees a slower queue or cannot find a match. The setting is not averaged across the group, and changing only the leader’s preference does not override a teammate’s more restrictive choice.
When to enable crossplay
- Enable it when your party includes different platform families.
- Enable it when matchmaking is taking unusually long and everyone is comfortable entering the broader pool.
- Check every member’s setting, because one disabled setting can narrow the whole party’s queue.
When a restricted queue may be intentional
A party may deliberately keep crossplay disabled if all members use the same platform family and accept a smaller matchmaking pool. That choice can increase wait times; the game will not silently re-enable crossplay for you.
Make this check after everyone joins the party, not only when the first invitation is sent. A teammate may have changed settings during an earlier session, and the most restrictive preference still governs the newly formed group. If a player wants to remain in a restricted queue, make sure every member understands that mixed-platform matchmaking will not be available for that party state.
Set the matchmaking server to Automatic
If a friend invitation works but the party cannot find a round, check the server setting as well as crossplay. Embark’s troubleshooting guidance, updated February 27, 2026, tells players to select Automatic.
On PC
- Open the gear icon.
- Choose Gameplay.
- Open Server.
- Set the server to Automatic.
On console
- Open Social from the lobby.
- Select the gear icon on the left side of the Social screen.
- Choose Gameplay.
- Open Server and select Automatic.
Have every member check their own setting. A party can still behave unexpectedly if one player remains on a manually selected server while others use Automatic.
Server selection is a matchmaking setting, not a friend-visibility setting. Changing it will not repair a misspelled Embark ID or an unaccepted party invitation. Fix the Social and party steps first, then use Automatic when the group is together but the queue is slow or inconsistent.
Troubleshoot the most common party problems
The friend cannot be found by Embark ID
- Ask the player to read the Embark ID from the game rather than sending a platform nickname.
- Check capitalization, spaces, punctuation, and any suffix shown with the ID.
- Confirm that the request was sent to the intended account before leaving the menu.
- Have the recipient check for a pending request and accept it; an unaccepted request does not complete the friend connection.
If the player recently appeared in a match with you, try Social > Recent before attempting another search. That route avoids the possibility that you are using a storefront name instead of the Embark ID.

The invitation was sent but the player is not in the party
- Verify that the recipient accepted the party invitation, not just the friend request.
- Return to the lobby and check the party panel beside the play widget.
- If the player has just left a round, reopen Social > Recent and send a fresh invitation.
- Do not start the raid until every required teammate is visibly listed.
Sending a second invitation is useful only after confirming that the first one was not accepted or is no longer active. Repeatedly sending requests without checking the party panel can leave one player believing the squad is complete when it is not.
Cross-platform friends can see each other but cannot queue
- Ask every party member to inspect their crossplay setting.
- Identify the most restrictive setting; that is the queue behavior the party will receive.
- Enable crossplay for the members who want a mixed-platform match.
- Set each player’s server to Automatic using the PC or console path above.
- Disband and recreate the party after changing settings if the old queue state persists.
Matchmaking is unusually slow
First check whether someone has crossplay disabled, since that reduces the available queue. Next verify the server setting. Embark specifically recommends Automatic when matchmaking feels slow. If the platform or account status has recently changed, return to the lobby and repeat the invitation after all members are online.
Do not assume that a slow queue means the friend system failed. If every player is visible in the party panel, the social setup is complete; investigate the party-wide crossplay rule and each player’s server choice instead.
A recent teammate has disappeared
The Recent list is intended for players from recent rounds, not as a permanent contact database. If you want reliable future access, send a friend request while the player is still visible and have them accept it. Once the entry is no longer available, you will need the player’s Embark ID to reconnect through the Friends tab.
A reliable pre-raid routine
Use this short sequence when coordinating a mixed-platform squad:
- Agree on each player’s Embark ID or confirm that everyone is visible in Recent.
- Open Social and finish any pending friend requests.
- Use the lobby + icon to invite the complete squad.
- Wait until every teammate accepts and appears in the party panel.
- Check crossplay preferences for all party members.
- Set the server to Automatic on each player’s device if matchmaking has been slow or inconsistent.
- Only then start the round.
This order separates identity problems, party-invitation problems, and queue problems. It also prevents the common mistake of troubleshooting matchmaking when a teammate never actually accepted the party invitation.
For a recurring group, make the routine habitual: exchange Embark IDs once, use the Friends tab for later sessions, and reserve Recent for new teammates or emergency reconnects. Before each launch, glance at the party panel and crossplay setting because those are the two checks most likely to explain a missing teammate or unexpectedly narrow queue.
What the current platform information does—and does not—confirm
The broad official description confirms social play across PlayStation, Xbox, and PC. The platform listing identifies Steam, Epic Games Store, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and GeForce NOW. The support FAQ’s explicit crossplay examples are Steam, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
Those statements establish the supported scope without proving that every cloud or storefront version has identical account linking, voice-chat, or matchmaking rules. If you are using a cloud session or a storefront not named in the crossplay FAQ, follow the account prompts shown in your current client and confirm that the Social menu exposes the expected Embark ID and party controls.
Best Value
Menu labels and settings are live-service details. A future update can move Social, Friends, Recent, or Server controls, so use the labels currently displayed by your client if they differ slightly. The underlying workflow remains the same: identify the player, complete the appropriate acceptance, form the party, then verify the queue settings.
Quick reference
| Goal | Exact action | Important condition |
|---|---|---|
| Add someone permanently | Social > Friends > Add Friend, enter Embark ID | The recipient must accept the request |
| Invite an accepted friend | Select the lobby + above the play widget | Invite before starting the round |
| Invite a recent teammate | Social > Recent > Invite to Party | No friend request is required for that invitation |
| Allow mixed-platform matchmaking | Enable crossplay for every relevant party member | The most restrictive member controls the party queue |
| Address slow matchmaking | Set Gameplay > Server to Automatic | PC starts from the gear icon; console starts in Social |
Bottom line
To play ARC Raiders with friends, add them with their Embark ID or select them from Social > Recent, invite them through the lobby’s plus icon, and wait for acceptance before launching a raid. Cross-platform squads are supported across the stated PlayStation, Xbox, and PC scope, but the party’s most restrictive crossplay setting determines its queue. When matchmaking is slow, check that setting for everyone and switch each player’s server to Automatic.
