How to Plan a Visit to Nintendo New York: Location, Hours, Accessibility, and What to Expect

Nintendo NEW YORK is a free, walk-in store and interactive experience at 10 Rockefeller Plaza, New York, NY 10020. Nintendo currently lists hours of 10 a.m.–8 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 11 a.m.–7 p.m. Sunday. The B, D, F, and M trains stop at 47–50th Street–Rockefeller Center. You usually do not need a reservation unless you are attending a special event, but hours, lines, and entry rules can change for launches and other programming.

Where Nintendo NEW YORK is located

Nintendo NEW YORK is at 10 Rockefeller Plaza, New York, NY 10020, on 48th Street between Fifth and Sixth Avenues. Enter that street address in your map app rather than searching only for “Nintendo Fifth Avenue.” The store is part of Rockefeller Center, so the surrounding complex can be busy even when the shop itself is operating normally.

The location is in Midtown Manhattan, close to Rockefeller Center’s plaza, offices, restaurants, and other attractions. That makes it easy to add to a Midtown day, but it also means pedestrian traffic, security procedures, and event activity can affect how quickly you reach the entrance.

Current opening hours and the safest way to time your visit

Nintendo’s own store listing currently gives this schedule:

#1 Best Overall
Nintendo Switch 2 System
  • The next evolution of Nintendo Switch
  • One system, three play modes: TV, Tabletop, and Handheld
  • Larger, vivid, 7.9” LCD touch screen with support for HDR and up to 120 fps
  • Dock that supports 4K when connected to a compatible TV*
  • GameChat** lets you voice chat, share your game screen, and connect via video chat as you play
Day Nintendo-listed hours Planning implication
Monday–Saturday 10 a.m.–8 p.m. Arrive after opening if you want a full day of browsing or demonstrations.
Sunday 11 a.m.–7 p.m. Allow for the later opening and earlier closing when pairing the visit with other activities.

A Rockefeller Center tenant page currently displays 11 a.m.–7 p.m. every day, which conflicts with Nintendo’s listing. Treat Nintendo’s page as the controlling schedule and check it again on the day you travel. The difference matters most if you are planning to arrive at 10 a.m. on a Sunday or near closing time.

Holiday schedules, game launches, promotional events, and crowd-control procedures can change the practical opening experience even when the regular timetable has not changed. A posted closing time is not a guarantee that an event-day line will be admitted immediately before closing. If your itinerary depends on a particular hour, verify the live listing before leaving and leave a buffer for a queue.

How to get to Nintendo NEW YORK by subway

Most direct stop: 47–50th Street–Rockefeller Center

Take the B, D, F, or M train to 47–50th Street–Rockefeller Center. From the station, follow signs for Rockefeller Center and continue toward 48th Street. Use 10 Rockefeller Plaza as the final destination in your navigation app so it directs you to the correct block rather than a generic Midtown entrance.

Other subway options

Line Station How to use it
6 51st Street Walk south and west toward Rockefeller Center.
1 50th Street Walk east toward the Rockefeller Center complex.
N, Q, or R 49th Street Walk toward 48th Street and the plaza.

The B, D, F, and M stop is the route Nintendo specifically identifies for the store. The 6, 1, and N/Q/R alternatives are useful when your trip begins elsewhere in Manhattan or when service changes make the direct stop inconvenient. Check live service status before boarding; a scheduled route can be affected by weekend work or construction.

Arriving above ground

Rockefeller Center occupies a large complex with several entrances and levels. Once you reach the 48th Street block, look for the 10 Rockefeller Plaza address and Nintendo signage rather than assuming the first plaza entrance is the shop entrance. If a map app sends you to a nearby building lobby, return to the street and match the street number.

  • Local co-op, online, and local wireless multiplayer
  • Detachable Joy-Con controllers
  • Nintendo Switch is the home of Mario & friends

Is admission free, and do you need a reservation?

There is no charge to visit the store. A normal shopping or browsing visit generally does not require a reservation, ticket, or Nintendo Account. You can walk in during posted operating hours, subject to capacity management or a temporary line.

Special events are different. Product launches, promotional activities, and other scheduled programs may use an advance-entry system. Nintendo’s FAQ says a free Nintendo Account may be required to reserve a Warp Pipe Pass. Each attendee generally needs an individual pass; children age six and under may attend with a parent or guardian who has a pass. Read the specific event listing because its requirements control over the ordinary walk-in policy.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Do not assume that a pass for one event grants access to the store at any other time, or that a normal visit guarantees entry during a launch. Check Nintendo’s event listing and social channels before traveling when a special program is your reason for going.

What you can do inside

Shop for games, systems, and accessories

The store carries Nintendo games, systems, accessories, apparel, character merchandise, and exclusive collections. Nintendo describes the product range broadly; individual colors, editions, sizes, and quantities can sell out or change without notice. Treat the store page as a description of categories, not a guarantee that a particular item will be in stock when you arrive.

The most defensible way to plan a purchase is to identify the category you need—such as a Nintendo Switch console, a game, or an accessory—and confirm availability with staff when you arrive. Do not build a trip around an item seen in an older social post or a third-party listing.

Try interactive gaming areas

Nintendo says Ambassadors can guide visitors through interactive gaming areas featuring Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch – OLED Model, and Nintendo Switch Lite. They can provide hands-on demonstrations, answer shopping questions, and explain items shown in the Nintendo Showcase. The experience is therefore more than a merchandise counter, although the amount of time you spend playing depends on current demand and any queue-management rules.

Browse the Nintendo Showcase

The Nintendo Showcase is an area where staff can explain featured items and the wider product selection. If you are visiting with someone who is deciding between systems or accessories, allow time to ask questions rather than treating the stop as a quick pickup. Demonstration access may be limited when the store is crowded.

Watch for launches and promotions

Nintendo occasionally holds launch or promotional events at the location. These can introduce lines, timed entry, passes, or other procedures that do not apply on a normal day. A visible crowd outside does not by itself indicate that ordinary admission has been suspended; ask staff or read the event instructions for the date of your visit.

How long to allow for the visit

No reliable official average visit duration or wait-time figure is published, so there is no evidence-based “standard” length to put on your itinerary. Plan according to what you intend to do:

  • Quick browse: leave enough time to enter, look through the merchandise, and exit without depending on a particular demonstration.
  • Shopping and questions: add time for comparing systems, asking an Ambassador for help, and checking the Showcase.
  • Hands-on visit: keep additional flexibility because demonstration areas can be occupied or managed by a queue.
  • Event day: treat the pass window or published arrival instructions as the primary schedule and expect a different entry process from a walk-in visit.

Rockefeller Center describes the tenant as a two-level, 10,000-square-foot interactive experience. That is descriptive complex copy without a stated publication year, not a promise about how long your visit will take or how much of the space is available on a particular day.

Accessibility and accommodations

What Rockefeller Center provides

Rockefeller Center’s visitor information describes the wider complex as ADA accessible. Its guidance includes power-assist entrances, accessible routes, elevators, accessible restrooms in its attractions, and service-animal policies for the site. These provisions are useful when planning the trip from the street or moving through the complex.

What is not published specifically for the store

Nintendo’s reviewed store information does not publish aisle widths, seating locations, sensory conditions, queue accommodations, or a store-specific accessibility map. The complex’s general accessibility statement should not be read as a detailed guarantee about every operational feature inside Nintendo NEW YORK.

Contact the store before traveling

If you need a specific entrance, route, seating arrangement, queue accommodation, sensory information, or assistance with a service animal, contact the store before your visit:

Describe the practical requirement and the date and time you expect to arrive. Staff can tell you what is available under current conditions; do not rely on a general web description to answer a store-specific question.

Visiting with children, friends, or an organized group

Families and small groups can visit during normal operations without paying admission. The interactive areas and demonstrations make the store suitable for visitors who want to see Nintendo hardware in person, but popular periods may limit how long everyone can use a demo station.

Best Value
Nintendo Switch – Neon Red and Neon Blue Joy-Con (Renewed)
  • One player can use a Joy-Con in each hand
  • Two players can each take one
  • Multiple Joy-Con can be employed by numerous people for a variety of gameplay options (additional Joy-Con sold separately)
  • Slip a set of Joy-Con into a Joy-Con grip accessory, mirroring a more traditional controller. Or, select an optional Nintendo Switch Pro Controller.

For an organized group, email [email protected] ahead of time. Nintendo says the store does not have a private party room. It may provide recommendations for a small group to visit during a non-peak period within normal store operations, but that is not a private booking or a guaranteed appointment.

For an event requiring a Warp Pipe Pass, follow the age and pass rules on that event’s instructions. Nintendo’s stated exception allows children age six and under to attend with a parent or guardian who holds a pass; do not generalize that exception to older children or to an unrelated event.

A practical planning sequence

  1. Choose the date and purpose. Decide whether you are browsing, shopping for a particular category, trying a demonstration, or attending a scheduled event. The purpose determines how much flexibility you need.
  2. Verify the hours. Check Nintendo’s current listing on the day of travel. Use 10 a.m.–8 p.m. Monday–Saturday and 11 a.m.–7 p.m. Sunday as the posted baseline, while allowing for holiday or event changes.
  3. Check for special entry rules. Look at Nintendo’s event information and social channels. If your date has a launch or promotion, determine whether a Nintendo Account, Warp Pipe Pass, timed arrival, or individual attendee pass is required.
  4. Map the correct address. Enter “10 Rockefeller Plaza, New York, NY 10020” and confirm that the route ends at 48th Street between Fifth and Sixth Avenues.
  5. Select your subway stop. Prefer 47–50th Street–Rockefeller Center on the B, D, F, or M when convenient. Use the 51st Street 6, 50th Street 1, or 49th Street N/Q/R alternatives when they fit your starting point or service conditions.
  6. Plan for the activity level. Leave room for merchandise browsing, Ambassador help, the Nintendo Showcase, and possible demonstration queues instead of scheduling an immediate appointment elsewhere.
  7. Contact the store about specific needs. Call or email before departure for accessibility questions, group planning, or an operational detail not covered by the public listing.
  8. Recheck on the morning of the visit. Confirm hours, event instructions, and any temporary line information before you leave for Midtown.

Combining Nintendo NEW YORK with other Rockefeller Center plans

The store can fit naturally into a Rockefeller Center itinerary, but nearby attractions have separate admission systems and schedules. Top of the Rock is a ticketed attraction, and CityPASS is a separate offering; neither is included with a free Nintendo visit. Check each attraction’s own hours and entry terms before committing to a timed reservation.

Use these decision points when arranging the day:

If your priority is… Plan around… Why
Free browsing and shopping Nintendo’s posted store hours Ordinary admission has no charge or routine reservation requirement.
Hands-on gaming Extra unallocated time Demonstrations and interactive areas may be busy.
A launch or promotion The event listing and pass rules Special entry can replace normal walk-in procedures.
A timed observation attraction That attraction’s ticket and schedule Rockefeller Center attractions operate separately from the store.
An accessibility-dependent itinerary Advance contact with Nintendo Complex-wide accessibility information does not specify every store feature.

Common problems and how to avoid them

You arrive when a listing says the store should be open

First compare Nintendo’s listing with the day of week and look for a holiday or event notice. The conflicting Rockefeller Center tenant hours are a reason to rely on Nintendo’s current page rather than an older map result. If a line is present, ask whether it is capacity control or event entry before waiting.

You expected a guaranteed item to be in stock

Nintendo describes product categories and exclusive collections, not a permanent inventory list. Ask an Ambassador about current stock and alternatives. A product shown in an old post or marketplace listing may no longer be available.

Your group expects a private celebration

The store has no private party room. Email in advance to ask whether a small group can be directed to a non-peak period, but plan for a normal public visit rather than a private event.

You planned to walk in during a launch

Check whether the launch uses Warp Pipe Passes or another timed system. A free Nintendo Account may be required, and each attendee generally needs an individual pass. Event instructions take precedence over the normal walk-in policy.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

You need a store-specific accessibility answer

Rockefeller Center’s accessible routes and elevators address the wider complex, not every aisle, seat, queue, or sensory condition inside Nintendo NEW YORK. Call (646) 459-0800 or email [email protected] with your exact question before traveling.
