Start with the convention’s official ticket page, choose a few schedule priorities, and pack a light day kit around your phone, comfortable shoes, water, and a power bank. Then verify the specific event’s entry, bag, accessibility, and safety rules: conventions differ, and even recurring events can change details from year to year.
How do you choose and buy a convention ticket?
Use the event organizer’s official ticket or badge page whenever possible. Before paying, confirm the ticket type and day, the venue and areas included, whether activities need separate reservations, and how entry works. Check whether your badge will be mailed, picked up on site, delivered through an app, or tied to ID, along with the event’s refund and transfer terms.

Resale carries a verification risk. The PAX East FAQ says the organizer cannot determine whether marketplace badges are legitimate and discourages buying them where possible; it also says PAX cannot assist if a buyer is defrauded. Read the target convention’s own policy rather than assuming it offers the same protections. PAX East FAQ
For current edition details, check the event’s official visitor pages for hours, entry instructions, maps, FAQs, and app information. PAX East’s visitor site directs attendees to these resources, but its badge and entry practices are specific to that event and may change. PAX East visitor information

How should you build a flexible schedule?
Begin with the official schedule and mark a small number of must-see panels, demos, tournaments, performances, or gaming sessions. Treat the rest as options rather than planning every minute: lines, room changes, meals, and interesting discoveries on the show floor can all alter the day.
For each priority, check how admission works, whether registration is required, any age notes, and how much time you need to reach the room. A practical shortlist weighs personal importance against capacity uncertainty, preregistration requirements, and timing conflicts.

Panels and other scheduled events
At PAX East, the FAQ says, “All Panels are first-come, first-served and access to all panel content comes free with your PAX badge.” That is an event-specific policy, not a guarantee for other conventions or every activity at PAX. Confirm the admission details shown for each item on your event’s schedule. PAX East FAQ
Tournament sign-ups
Do not assume that one registration method applies to every tournament. PAX East says most events are first-come, first-served at 9:00 a.m. (one hour before PAX East opens), while some tournaments use app preregistration and others follow rules set by exhibitors. Check the individual tournament listing and organizer instructions for the event you want to enter. PAX East FAQ

What should you bring?
A compact day kit helps you stay comfortable without making walking or security checks harder. Pack only what you need, and check the venue’s rules before bringing food, drinks, bags, or electronic accessories.
- Phone and ticket details: Charge your phone before leaving, install the official event app if there is one, and keep your ticket confirmation and essential instructions accessible.
- Portable power bank and cable: PAX East recommends bringing a portable battery because charging handheld devices can be challenging during the show. Confirm any battery restrictions with your venue or event organizer. PAX East attendee hints
- Comfortable walking shoes: A convention day can involve substantial walking between the venue, rooms, and show floor; choose footwear you can wear comfortably for a long day. PAX East attendee hints
- Water and a snack: PAX recommends carrying a water bottle and says outside food is allowed at its event. Those permissions are not universal, so check your venue’s food and drink rules first. PAX East attendee hints
- Small bag: Use a light bag for essentials and purchases, within the event’s size and security rules. PAX East’s 2026 rules say bags are checked at event entrances; other events may set different procedures. PAX East 2026 rules
- Personal essentials: Bring medication, access aids, or sensory supports you normally need, while checking venue policies and contacting the organizer ahead of time about accommodations.
How can you make venue navigation easier?
Review or save the venue map, schedule, and entry instructions before you arrive. PAX describes its app as a source for schedules, show maps, FAQs, and navigation, and cautions that venue Wi-Fi may become unreliable with a large attendee load. Keep critical details available offline where possible. PAX East app PAX East FAQ PAX East attendee hints
