Pause one monitor
- Open the Watchlist from the Distill browser extension, or sign in to the Distill web app. The Watchlist is where you view and manage monitors.
- Find the monitor you want to stop checking.
- Click its ON/OFF button to turn it off.
In the web app, the dropdown beside an individual monitor also exposes quick actions.

Pause multiple monitors
- In the Watchlist, select the monitors using their checkboxes.
- Click Batch Edit.
- Choose Switch OFF.
Delete a monitor
- Select the monitor in the Watchlist.
- Click the trash button.
Distill documents that this action moves the monitor to trash. Its cited instructions do not say whether a trashed monitor can be restored or when it is permanently removed, so check your current account or help information before relying on recovery or immediate permanent deletion.

Turning off local monitoring is a different action
Distill describes local monitors as checks run using a browser or PC, while cloud monitors run on Distill’s servers. To turn off local monitoring, open the extension menu and select Turn Local Monitoring OFF. That control affects local monitoring; it is not the same as switching off an individual monitor in the Watchlist. The documented pause and delete steps are Watchlist actions, and the cited instructions do not give a different workflow for local versus cloud monitors.

Troubleshooting
- You cannot find the monitor: Open the Watchlist in the extension or sign in to the web app, then locate the monitor in the list.
- You want to stop one check but keep the monitor: Use its ON/OFF button, rather than the trash button.
- You want to stop several monitors: Select their checkboxes first, then use Batch Edit → Switch OFF.
- You want local checks to stop: Use Turn Local Monitoring OFF in the extension menu. This is a separate control from an individual monitor’s ON/OFF button.
- You deleted a monitor and need it back: The cited Distill instructions only confirm that deletion moves it to trash; they do not establish restoration or permanent-removal behavior. Consult current account options or Distill help rather than assuming either outcome.
