Use n8n’s HTTP Request node: map the incoming webpage URL, viewport width, and viewport height into the screenshot API’s query parameters, then set the response format to File so the workflow receives the image bytes. The exact parameter names and authentication depend on the API; the example below uses ScreenshotOne’s documented /take endpoint.
Prepare the data for the HTTP Request node
Have the preceding node provide a URL and numeric viewport dimensions. For example, use a Set or Edit Fields node to create:

Turn on Send Query Parameters. Add these parameters as name/value fields or enter them as JSON:

In the node’s response settings, choose File and set the output field name that downstream nodes will use. Enable Include Response Headers and Status if you need to branch on HTTP status or inspect response headers. By default, the node returns only the body and treats 2xx responses as successful; response behavior can be changed in its options. n8n HTTP Request node documentation

Run the workflow with a publicly accessible page, then inspect the returned binary/file data. Connect a downstream node that can use the binary output for your intended task, such as storing or forwarding the image.
Choose viewport dimensions for the capture you need
A viewport is the browser’s page-rendering area, not necessarily the final image’s dimensions. ScreenshotOne documents viewport width and height in pixels and defaults of 1280 × 1024 when dimensions are not supplied. An API may use different names, defaults, or behavior, so check the reference for your provider.
For a single-viewport screenshot
Choose dimensions that match the layout you want to inspect. Width can cross responsive CSS breakpoints and change which layout the page displays. Height controls the visible vertical area for an ordinary viewport capture.
For a full-page screenshot
Do not assume that viewport height always means the output image height. ScreenshotOne’s documented default full-page algorithm may stretch the viewport to the page height, while its by_sections algorithm uses the viewport height for each captured section. Do not confuse viewport size with image resizing
Viewport dimensions influence how the browser renders the page; image width and height options resize the resulting image. If you need both a particular responsive layout and a specific output resolution, configure those as separate concerns in the provider’s API.

For a direct test outside n8n, replace the access key and target URL with your own values. This sends the screenshot dimensions as query parameters and saves the returned image:

The request omits the URL or dimensions: Check the incoming item in the node before the HTTP Request. Confirm its property names match the expressions, such as

The API rejects the request: Verify the endpoint, required key, and parameter names against that provider’s documentation. ScreenshotOne’s example uses
access_key,url,viewport_width, andviewport_height; other providers may differ. -
A URL containing special characters fails: Ensure the URL is sent as a query parameter and properly URL-encoded. In n8n, use the parameter fields or JSON rather than manually concatenating an unescaped query string.

The workflow succeeds but no image is available to the next node: Set the response format to File and configure the output field name expected downstream. Inspect the node output to confirm the binary/file property exists.

The test works in cURL but not in n8n: Compare the method, endpoint, query parameter values, authentication, and response settings. If cURL was imported, check whether values that should be numeric or boolean were imported as strings.

The request times out or captures an incomplete page: Confirm that the target page is reachable and review your provider’s load-wait and timeout options. Exact controls and limits are provider-specific; do not assume one API’s settings apply to another.
Reliability and cost considerations
Start with a public page and a modest workflow test before processing a large set of URLs. For production, inspect the provider’s status/error semantics and decide how the workflow should handle non-2xx responses, missing binary output, or an unavailable target page. Enable headers and status when they are useful for those branches. API limits, pricing, authentication for private pages, and retry behavior vary by provider and are not established by the n8n node configuration itself.

Yes, the HTTP Request node pattern is reusable, but replace the endpoint, authentication, parameter names, and response handling with the selected provider’s documented schema.

Does a viewport of 1440 × 900 guarantee a 1440 × 900 full-page image?
No. Those values describe the browser viewport; full-page capture and output resizing can affect the final image dimensions.
