Samsung Galaxy Buds share a name, but pairing steps, fit, gestures, and features vary by generation. For Galaxy Buds3 and Buds3 Pro, pairing starts with the case’s Connect button; Buds2 and Buds2 Pro use a different touchpad method. This guide separates those instructions and explains the practical differences among the recent Buds3 models.
Which Galaxy Buds model do you have?
Check the model name in the Galaxy Wearable app, your device’s Bluetooth settings, or the product packaging before following instructions. In particular, do not apply older touchpad instructions to Buds3 models: the Buds3 family uses blade gestures, while many earlier models use touchpads.

These are specifications and feature descriptions from Samsung’s US Buds3 family overview, not independent listening-test results. IP ratings are not a promise that earbuds are waterproof or safe for unrestricted submersion. Samsung also lists a 53 mAh battery for each Buds3 Pro earbud and 43 mAh for each Buds3 earbud; those are capacities, not estimates of playback time.

How to pair Galaxy Buds with a phone
A charged case helps with setup. For supported Samsung and Android flows, the Galaxy Wearable app can guide connection; a Galaxy phone may also display a pairing prompt. If no prompt appears, use the phone’s Bluetooth settings or the app’s instructions for your model. Labels and feature support may differ by phone, software version, and region.
Galaxy Buds3 and Buds3 Pro
- Place both earbuds in the charging case and close the lid.
- Reopen the case, then press and hold its Connect button for at least three seconds to enter pairing mode.
- On the phone, follow the Galaxy Wearable prompt or open Bluetooth settings and select the earbuds.
These steps follow Samsung’s Buds3 connection guide.

Galaxy Buds2 and Buds2 Pro
Put both earbuds in their case and, with them still in the case, press and hold both earbud touchpads to enter pairing mode. Then select the buds in the phone’s Bluetooth settings or continue in Galaxy Wearable. Other older models, including Buds Live, Buds Plus, and earlier Buds Pro, can use different steps; follow the instructions for the exact model rather than assuming this method applies to every generation.

Do not assume every Galaxy Buds model offers full app and feature support on iPhone. Samsung provides iOS app support for some legacy models, while newer models may have more limited iOS features. The phone’s Bluetooth settings may still offer a basic connection, but available controls and extras vary. Check Samsung’s guidance for the specific model and device.

Samsung Ireland’s smartphone connection guidance says pairing mode ends if the earbuds are not paired within three minutes. If it times out, close and reopen the case and start pairing again.
How to get a secure fit
Comfort and a stable fit depend on the earbud design and, for models with removable tips, the tip size. Samsung advises choosing tips that fit your ears; do not force a tip or earbud into place. The Buds3 and Buds3 Pro use blade-style designs, so Samsung also recommends adjusting their angle or rotation for fit and microphone position.

Ear tips and fit tests
Buds3 Pro and Buds3 FE have an earbud fit test in Samsung’s US guidance; the cited instructions do not list one for Buds3. Buds3 Pro’s removable tips should be changed using the model-specific instructions, not by pulling or twisting in a way that could damage them. The Buds3 open design does not use the same tip-fitting process. See Samsung’s Buds3 family wearing guide and its fit and setup instructions for the relevant model.

How Galaxy Buds controls work
Controls differ by generation and can also be configurable in Galaxy Wearable where supported. If a gesture does not do what you expect, check the model’s control settings rather than assuming the gesture is universal.

Older touchpad models
Samsung’s UK guidance lists single tap for play or pause, double tap for the next track, and triple tap for the previous track when the third tap occurs within the first three seconds of a track. After that point, triple tap restarts the current track. Call actions are also available, but the available gestures can vary by model and settings.
Buds3 family blade gestures
Buds3 family controls use touch, swipe, and pinch combinations on the blade rather than the older touchpad pattern. The precise set varies by model: Samsung lists touch, swipe, and pinch for Buds3 Pro, blade gestures for Buds3, and swipe and pinch for Buds3 FE. Use Galaxy Wearable’s controls, where available, to manage supported sound modes such as noise control or ambient sound.

Samsung’s UK guide describes charging the case by cable or with a compatible wireless charger. The case indicators communicate charge and status. Charging through a computer connection can be slower. Samsung advises using approved chargers and cables, and cleaning and drying charging contacts before placing the earbuds in the case. See Samsung’s charging and setup guidance.
- Keep charging contacts clean and dry; dirt or moisture can interfere with charging.
- For Buds3 and Buds3 Pro, Samsung Canada advises against cleaning with alcohol, acetone, or solvents.
- If earbuds get wet, wipe them with a clean, soft cloth, shake gently to remove water, and let them dry thoroughly before charging or storing them.
Battery life depends on model, settings, volume, use, and the connected device. Samsung’s Buds FE specification sheet gives one explicitly conditioned result: in Samsung testing with paired pre-production Buds FE and a recently released Galaxy smartphone at default settings, playback was specified at six hours with ANC on or nine hours with ANC off using the earbuds alone; including the case, Samsung specified 21 or 30 hours, respectively. This is a stated test result, not a guaranteed runtime or a direct comparison with newer models. See the Samsung Galaxy Buds FE specification sheet.
What to check when pairing or audio fails
- Pairing does not start: Check that both earbuds are seated correctly and that the case has charge. Use the pairing action for your generation: the case Connect button for Buds3 and Buds3 Pro, or the specified touchpad method for Buds2 and Buds2 Pro.
- Pairing times out: Close and reopen the case, then begin pairing again. On Samsung Ireland’s instructions, pairing mode expires after three minutes without a connection.
- Audio cuts out or sounds unclear: Keep the phone and earbuds close, check the fit and volume, and make sure the earbuds are dry. Try another location if wireless interference may be present.
- Connection range seems short: One Samsung UK guide gives an approximate Bluetooth range of 10 metres, while warning that the surrounding environment affects it. Walls, distance, and interference can reduce practical range.
These checks address common setup and signal problems; they cannot rule out every software or hardware fault. If the problem continues, consult Samsung support for the exact model and region.
