To pair two JBL PartyBox speakers, first check that your exact models support the mode you want. Matching models generally use TWS (True Wireless Stereo); selected different-model combinations support Party mode but not stereo. Then follow the button sequence for your model—JBL does not use one pairing control across every PartyBox.
Check compatibility and choose a sound mode
JBL Support says two PartyBox speakers of the same model can pair through TWS. Its US compatibility guidance also lists exceptions that allow certain different models to pair. Because cross-model support varies by model and guidance, check your exact pair against JBL’s current PartyBox TWS Information page before you begin.

| Speaker combination | Wireless mode and result |
|---|---|
| Two of the same PartyBox model | TWS; JBL says matching models default to stereo. |
| PartyBox 200 and PartyBox 300 | Listed by JBL as a cross-model TWS exception. Check the support page for the exact behavior supported by your pair. |
| PartyBox On-The-Go and On-The-Go Essential | Listed by JBL as a cross-model TWS exception. Check the support page and model manuals for setup details. |
| Selected app-compatible models, including PartyBox 110, 120, 310, 320, 710, Encore, and Encore Essential | JBL’s US support page lists cross-model pairing in Party mode; it does not provide stereo for different-model combinations in that mode. |
JBL’s regional capabilities guidance describes a somewhat different set of examples for different-model wireless Party mode, including PartyBox 110, 310, and 710. It also describes wired connections between different models. Lists can differ by region and model generation, so use the JBL page for your region and the manual for each exact speaker rather than assuming every combination works.
Know which result you want
- Stereo: matching-model TWS pairs are JBL’s route to separate left and right channels. JBL says the default for these pairs is stereo.
- Party sound: selected different-model combinations can play together in Party mode, but JBL says those combinations do not provide stereo.

Pair the speakers using the controls for your model
Before pressing buttons, confirm the model combination is supported and identify whether your speakers have a dedicated TWS button or use Bluetooth-button pairing. JBL’s model-specific directions differ; do not assume one sequence applies to the whole PartyBox range.
Models with a TWS button
- Turn on both speakers and place them near one another.
- Press the TWS button on each speaker. JBL’s general support instructions use this procedure for several models; the precise setup can vary by model.
- Wait for the speakers’ pairing indication, then play audio and check whether the result is stereo or Party mode as intended.
For the PartyBox 710, JBL’s manual says to leave TWS by pressing TWS on either speaker or turning one speaker off. See the PartyBox 710 owner’s manual for its model-specific instructions.

Models that pair with the Bluetooth button
- On the first speaker, press and hold Bluetooth until you hear the notification chime.
- Repeat the Bluetooth-button hold on the second speaker.
- Allow the connection to complete, then confirm the mode and channel behavior in the model’s manual or JBL support instructions.
Some models have additional connection-order or channel-assignment details. Use the instructions for the exact model rather than treating this sequence as universal.

PartyBox On-The-Go Essential
- Connect your audio source to the primary speaker as directed in its manual.
- Hold the Bluetooth button on both speakers for more than five seconds to start TWS pairing.
- Keep the speakers less than 10 m (33 ft) apart, as specified in the On-The-Go Essential manual.
For this model, JBL identifies the speaker connected to the source as primary/left by default, with the other as secondary/right. The distance and channel details are specific to the PartyBox On-The-Go Essential manual; do not apply its range guidance automatically to other PartyBox models.

Set left and right channels
For supported models, JBL says the PartyBox app can activate or deactivate TWS and assign the left and right channels. The app’s channel controls are not stated as available for every PartyBox, so check that your model is supported before relying on them. For On-The-Go Essential, the manual’s default is source-connected speaker on the left and the other speaker on the right.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Know what happens to microphone and instrument inputs
In TWS, a microphone or instrument plugged into one speaker is heard from that speaker alone, according to JBL. If that input needs to play through the second speaker too, JBL describes connecting the first speaker’s output to the secondary speaker’s input with a cable, or using a small mixing console. Consult the connections and input limits in both models’ manuals before wiring them.
Quick Recap
Rank #4
- Superior JBL Pro Sound: We’re cranking out 800 watts of JBL Pro Sound—loud, clean, and full of deep bass from those two massive 9” woofers. The tweeters keep the highs crisp and clear, so every track hits just right and the dance floor stays packed.
- Futuristic lightshow: Mix all that epic sound with a lightshow to match—vibrant stars, flowing trails, and strobes that move with the beat. It’s a full-on vibe.
- Up to 15 hours playtime: Keep the music going for up to 15 hours on a single charge. Need more juice? Swap in the backup batteries (sold separately) and keep it moving. Just need a quick boost? A 10-minute fast charge gets you up to 2 extra hours of playtime.
- Ergonomic integrated handle and wider sturdy wheels: Taking the party outside just got easier—wider wheels roll smooth on rough ground, and the built-in handle makes it easy to grab and go.
- IPX4 Splash proof: Whether we’re hanging in the park or chilling by the pool, the PartyBox 720 is IPX4 splash proof—so a little water is no big deal.
If the speakers will not pair
- Recheck the model numbers. Confirm the exact combination supports TWS or the intended cross-model Party mode; compatible labels across a product family do not guarantee compatibility.
- Use the right button sequence. A TWS-button model and a Bluetooth-button model may have different setup steps. Follow each model’s JBL instructions.
- For On-The-Go Essential, clear an old Bluetooth connection if needed. JBL’s manual says it may be necessary to forget the PartyBox on the source device before reconnecting Bluetooth. This is specific model guidance, not a universal fix.
- Confirm the intended mode. Cross-model Party mode is not the same as stereo TWS, and JBL says different-model combinations in that Party mode do not provide stereo.
