Open the Bluetooth device list on your phone, laptop, or tablet. Select EMBERTON III when it appears.

Marshall’s instructions use the same speaker-side process for an audio device rather than giving separate steps for each operating system. The menu labels and path can vary by device, so use its Bluetooth settings and select the speaker from the available-device list. Marshall’s pairing instructions
Understand connections and playback
The Emberton III can connect to two devices at once and remembers up to eight previously paired devices. When a remembered device is in range, the speaker tries to reconnect to the last connected device. Marshall does not state a publication year for these figures in its reviewed pairing guidance. Connecting a second device does not necessarily switch playback to it. If two devices are connected, pause playback on the device currently playing before starting audio on the other one. If the speaker does not appear or pairing fails
Work through these checks before resetting the speaker:

Make sure Bluetooth is enabled on the phone, laptop, or tablet.

Confirm that the speaker is on and its indicator slowly pulses blue. If it does not, hold the Bluetooth button until it enters pairing mode.

Check whether the speaker is already connected to two audio devices. If so, pause playback on the active device before trying to play from the other one.
These checks address the most likely differences between an undiscoverable speaker, a speaker that is already connected, and a connection that is present but not playing audio. Marshall lists them in its troubleshooting instructions.

Factory-reset the speaker as a last resort
If the checks do not resolve the problem, Marshall recommends a factory reset. A reset restores the speaker’s original settings and deletes user settings, so you will need to set it up again. It does not remove firmware updates.

In the phone, laptop, or tablet’s Bluetooth list, remove EMBERTON III. Also remove EMBERTON III [LE] if it appears.

Do you need the Marshall Bluetooth app?
No app is required for basic pairing: the process uses the speaker’s buttons and your device’s Bluetooth list. Marshall identifies its Marshall Bluetooth app for iOS and Android for speaker settings and keeping software up to date; the app is optional for the pairing steps described here. The reviewed instructions do not identify a cable or accessory required for pairing. A routine Bluetooth setup problem is not, by itself, a reason to buy an accessory.
