To pair Samsung rear speakers, first verify that the wireless rear-speaker kit is compatible with your exact soundbar model. Connect the kit as its manual specifies, then use the soundbar’s model-specific ID SET procedure if the receiver’s LINK light keeps blinking. A solid blue LINK light indicates a connection on Samsung’s documented receiver-based setup.
Check compatibility before setting up or buying a kit
Find the soundbar’s complete model number on the product, its packaging, or in its settings. Check that model’s user manual or Samsung’s compatibility information before choosing a rear-speaker kit: compatibility depends on the soundbar model, and available settings can differ by model and country.

Samsung’s US compatibility page groups soundbars by kit. For example, it lists SWA-9500S for selected Q-series and S-series soundbars from the 2021–2022 model years, and gives separate model lists for SWA-9200S, SWA-9100S, SWA-9000S, and SWA-8500S. These are examples from the US list, not a universal compatibility chart.

Regional lists can differ. Samsung Ireland’s SWA-9250S product page names selected 2025 soundbars—Q600F, B750F, B650F, and B450F—as compatible in that market. Check the documentation for your country and soundbar rather than assuming a kit listed elsewhere will work.

Understand the kit’s connections
Many Samsung rear-speaker kits use a wireless receiver module that links to the soundbar while the two rear speakers connect to the receiver by wire. The receiver and speakers still need power as specified by the kit. “Wireless” therefore does not necessarily mean that the speakers themselves are cable-free.
Samsung’s SWA-9500S product information describes a different arrangement: it has no separate receiver module and requires power at each speaker. Follow the manual for the particular kit; do not apply receiver-based wiring steps to a kit with a different design.
Connect a receiver-based rear-speaker kit
- Place and power the components. Position the receiver and speakers as directed by the kit manual, then connect the receiver to power.
- Match the receiver plugs. Connect the gray and blue plugs to the corresponding gray and blue receiver jacks.
- Wire each speaker. Insert the red and black wire ends into the matching speaker terminals. Make sure the bare metal conductor—not the insulation—makes contact with the terminal.
- Check the LINK light. Plug in the factory-paired components and look at the receiver’s LINK indicator. If it glows solid blue, the receiver has connected to the soundbar. If it blinks, use the ID SET procedure below.
These wiring and indicator instructions apply to the receiver-based setup described in Samsung’s Canadian support guide; check your kit’s manual if its connectors or instructions differ.

Samsung Canada’s guide, updated in 2026, describes ID SET as the manual pairing step for a blinking LINK indicator. The remote button differs by soundbar model, so use that model’s manual if the button or sequence is different.

- Turn the soundbar on and check the receiver’s LINK indicator.
When the connection is established, Samsung says the LINK LED stops blinking and glows solid blue. If it continues blinking, check that the receiver has power, the plug colors match their jacks, and bare wire—not insulation—is contacting the speaker terminals. Then repeat the model-specific pairing procedure.

If the receiver is connected but the rear speakers seem quiet, check whether your soundbar offers rear-speaker controls. On supported models, Samsung’s guide says the remote’s Sound Control menu includes rear-speaker on/off and level settings, with a range of -6 to +6. Menu labels and options can vary; use the soundbar manual for the exact controls on your model.
Know what rear speakers can reproduce
Adding a rear kit does not make every source discrete surround sound. The soundbar’s channel processing and the source audio affect what comes from the rear speakers. Samsung says a rear kit can help produce surround sound when paired with a soundbar that supports 5.1 processing or better; 5.1 means five main channels plus a subwoofer channel.
For a 2.0 soundbar or 2.0 audio, Samsung’s guide suggests placing added speakers beside the seating area rather than behind it as a potentially more immersive arrangement. Treat this as Samsung’s guidance, not a universal room-placement rule.
Quick Recap
When pairing still fails
- LINK keeps blinking: Confirm receiver power and cable connections, then repeat the ID SET sequence specified for the soundbar model.
- ID SET does not appear: The required remote button can vary. Check the soundbar manual instead of assuming every model uses the same control.
- The kit is not listed as compatible: Recheck the complete soundbar model number and the local Samsung compatibility information. Brand alone is not enough to establish compatibility.
- A part is missing or appears faulty: The cited setup information does not establish a universally compatible replacement receiver or wire. Confirm the exact part with Samsung for your kit before buying a substitute.
