Huawei FreeBuds Neo pair through the standard Bluetooth menu on Android, iPhone, and Windows 10 or Windows 11. First put both earbuds in the open charging case and hold the case Function button for two seconds, until the indicator flashes. Then select FreeBuds Neo on the device you want to use.
Huawei also lists support for connecting the earbuds to two Bluetooth devices at once. You can switch playback between those devices, but you must pause the current audio or disconnect its device first; Huawei excludes MacBook laptops from this documented dual-connect feature.

What you need before pairing
Use the same preparation for every supported platform:
- Place both earbuds in the charging case.
- Leave the lid open.
- Hold the case Function button for two seconds.
- Release the button when the indicator begins flashing. The flashing indicator shows that the earbuds are discoverable.
Keep the phone or computer close to the case while you scan for Bluetooth devices. If the earbuds were previously paired with another device, temporarily turn Bluetooth off on that device or disconnect its FreeBuds Neo entry. This prevents the old host from reconnecting while you are trying to pair a new one.

FreeBuds Neo are documented as compatible with Android, iOS, and Windows. The basic connection uses Bluetooth; Huawei’s AI Life and HUAWEI Audio Connect apps are optional additions after the Bluetooth connection has been made.

How to pair FreeBuds Neo with Android
1. Put the earbuds into discovery mode
Place both earbuds in the open case and hold the Function button for two seconds, until the case indicator flashes. Leave the lid open while the phone searches.
2. Open Android Bluetooth settings
On the Android device, open Settings, then choose Bluetooth. Some Android versions place Bluetooth under Connected devices or Connections, but the control is the system Bluetooth screen rather than an in-app pairing screen.
3. Select the earbuds
Wait for FreeBuds Neo to appear in the available-device list and tap that name. Accept a pairing prompt if Android displays one. Keep the case nearby until the status changes to connected.
4. Test and add Huawei features if wanted
Play a short audio clip or make a test call to confirm that sound is routed to the earbuds. After the Bluetooth connection is established, Huawei recommends AI Life or HUAWEI Audio Connect for supported controls and additional earbud features. HUAWEI Audio Connect is specified for Android 8.0 or later; the Bluetooth pairing step itself is performed in Android Settings.

How to pair FreeBuds Neo with an iPhone or iPad
1. Start discovery mode from the case
Put both earbuds in the open charging case. Hold the Function button for two seconds and wait for the indicator to flash.
2. Use the iOS Bluetooth screen
On the iPhone or iPad, open Settings > Bluetooth. Leave the screen open while iOS scans. The earbuds should appear under the list of available devices as FreeBuds Neo.

Tap FreeBuds Neo. When the entry moves to the connected or paired section, the initial Bluetooth setup is complete. Close the case, remove the earbuds, and play audio to verify the connection.
4. Check app requirements before installing
Huawei’s compatibility announcement confirms iOS support. For optional app controls, Huawei specifies HUAWEI Audio Connect for iOS 13.0 or later and iPadOS 13.0 or later. The app is not required for ordinary listening through the iOS Bluetooth menu.

2. Open Windows’ add-device dialog
- Select Start, then Settings.
- Open Devices.
- Choose Add Bluetooth or other device.
- Select Bluetooth.
3. Choose FreeBuds Neo
When Windows displays the available devices, select FreeBuds Neo. Wait for Windows to report that the device is ready. You can then select the earbuds as the sound output from the taskbar sound control or the audio settings for the application you are using.

A desktop without built-in Bluetooth cannot discover the earbuds until Bluetooth hardware is added. A USB Bluetooth adapter is a possible accessory path. Huawei’s instructions do not identify a particular adapter, so verify that any adapter you use supports your Windows edition and has an appropriate driver before attempting to pair.
How to confirm that pairing worked
A successful pairing creates a FreeBuds Neo entry in the host’s paired or connected-device list. Confirmation differs by platform:
- Android: FreeBuds Neo appears in the Bluetooth device list as connected or previously connected.
- iPhone or iPad: FreeBuds Neo moves from available devices to the connected section in Settings > Bluetooth.
- Windows: The add-device dialog reports that the earbuds are ready, and Windows can select them as an audio output.
Test both media playback and, if you plan to use calls, the microphone. A device can be paired while another output remains selected, so manually choose FreeBuds Neo in the operating system’s audio-output control if sound continues through the phone speaker or PC speakers.
What to do when FreeBuds Neo do not appear
Repeat discovery mode before scanning
The most common recovery is to restart the discovery step rather than repeatedly refreshing the Bluetooth list. Put both earbuds in the open case, hold the Function button for two seconds, wait for the flashing indicator, and then reopen the host’s Bluetooth screen. Huawei states that reconnecting after an earlier unpairing uses the same process as the first connection.

Remove a stale Bluetooth record
If Android, iOS, or Windows keeps selecting an old FreeBuds Neo record, remove or forget that entry from the host’s Bluetooth list. Then perform the discovery-mode procedure again and select the newly advertised FreeBuds Neo name. This is especially useful after changing phones or after an interrupted pairing attempt.
Check whether another device has taken the connection
FreeBuds Neo can reconnect to a device that was paired previously. Turn Bluetooth off temporarily on nearby phones, tablets, PCs, or watches, or disconnect FreeBuds Neo from those devices before scanning with the new host. Once the new host has completed pairing, Bluetooth can be restored on the other devices.
Inspect the Windows hardware path
If FreeBuds Neo never appear in Windows’ device picker, confirm that the computer actually has Bluetooth. A desktop without built-in Bluetooth needs a compatible USB Bluetooth adapter before Windows can perform the scan. Also check that the adapter is enabled and recognized by Windows; the Huawei pairing instructions do not provide adapter-specific troubleshooting.
Reset after a single-earbud or case replacement
For a newly purchased single earbud or charging case, Huawei instructs you to place both earbuds in the case, open the lid, hold the control to reset the set to factory settings, and then pair again. Because the reset control and pairing process act on the set, do not attempt to pair only the replacement earbud by itself. After the reset, repeat the normal discovery-mode and Bluetooth-selection steps.

Can FreeBuds Neo connect to two devices at once?
Huawei states that the earphones support simultaneous connection to two Bluetooth devices, such as mobile phones, tablets, PCs, and watches. Huawei’s documentation specifically excludes MacBook series laptops from this dual-connect capability.

How the two-device connection behaves
Multi connect keeps two Bluetooth links available, but it does not mix both audio streams at the same time. To hear audio from the other connected device, pause the current device’s playback or disconnect that device. Then start playback on the second device and, if necessary, select FreeBuds Neo as its audio output.
A practical setup sequence
- Pair FreeBuds Neo with the first phone, tablet, PC, or watch using that platform’s normal Bluetooth procedure.
- Pair the earbuds with the second supported Bluetooth device. If the first device immediately reconnects, temporarily pause or disconnect it while completing the second pairing.
- After both pairings are established, leave both devices connected when you want the convenience of switching.
- When changing sources, pause the active device first. Start audio on the other device only after its connection is available.
The documented feature is a two-device connection, not an unlimited list of active audio sources. Additional devices may remain stored as paired records, but Huawei’s statement covers simultaneous connection to two devices.
Basic Bluetooth pairing versus Huawei apps
Bluetooth pairing is sufficient for ordinary music, calls, and system audio. Huawei recommends installing AI Life or HUAWEI Audio Connect after a phone or tablet connection when you want supported extra features, controls, or updates.

App support does not change the essential discovery sequence: the earbuds must first be placed in pairing mode and selected from the host’s Bluetooth list.
Re-pairing after unpairing or changing devices
Unpairing does not require a special alternative method. Huawei says to use the same process as a first-time connection: put both earbuds in the open case, hold the Function button for two seconds until the indicator flashes, open the host’s Bluetooth settings, and select FreeBuds Neo.
When moving from one host to another, remove the old Bluetooth record if the new host shows a stale or duplicate entry. If another previously paired device keeps reclaiming the connection, disconnect it or turn off its Bluetooth temporarily while you complete the new pairing.
Platform-specific decisions and limitations
- Choose Android settings when pairing with an Android phone or tablet; use the optional Huawei app only after the Bluetooth link works.
- Choose iOS settings for an iPhone or iPad. HUAWEI Audio Connect requires iOS 13.0 or iPadOS 13.0 or later according to Huawei’s stated app support.
- Choose the Windows add-device path on Windows 10 or Windows 11. If the PC lacks Bluetooth, add compatible hardware such as a USB Bluetooth adapter.
- Use Multi connect when you need two supported phones, tablets, PCs, or watches available at the same time. Pause or disconnect the current source before listening to the other one.
- Do not rely on the documented dual-connect feature with a MacBook. Huawei specifically excludes MacBook series laptops from that feature; the documentation supplied here does not establish a separate MacBook pairing workflow.
Fast recovery checklist
- Put both earbuds in the open case.
- Hold the Function button for two seconds and wait for the indicator to flash.
- Open the correct Bluetooth menu for Android, iPhone/iPad, or Windows.
- Select FreeBuds Neo.
- If it is missing, forget the old entry and scan again.
- Disconnect nearby previously paired devices that may be taking the connection.
- If a single earbud or case was replaced, reset the set with both earbuds inside, then pair again.
- On a desktop with no Bluetooth, install a compatible USB Bluetooth adapter before scanning.
That sequence covers first-time setup, reconnection, and the usual recovery path across Android, iPhone, iPad, Windows 10, and Windows 11. Once the Bluetooth connection is stable, the optional Huawei apps can add supported controls and updates.
