How to pair Beats Studio Buds+ with an iPhone, Android phone, Mac, or PC

To pair Beats Studio Buds+ with any supported phone or computer, put both earbuds in their open case, press and hold the case system button until the status light flashes white, then select Beats Studio Buds+ in the device’s Bluetooth controls. iPhone and Android may show a nearby-device setup animation; Mac and Windows use their Bluetooth pairing screens.

The steps below cover each platform, explain the online-service caveats that do not affect basic Bluetooth audio, and show what to check when pairing succeeds but sound does not play.

What the flashing white light means

The case’s system button puts Beats Studio Buds+ into discovery mode. Keep both earbuds in the case, open the lid, and press and hold that button until the status light flashes white. A flashing light means the earbuds are ready to pair, as Apple explains in its Pair Beats guide.

Start this procedure whenever the earbuds do not appear in a device’s Bluetooth list. Selecting the earbuds before the light flashes can fail because the case has not yet entered discovery mode.

Apple Support, Pair Beats

Prepare the earbuds and device

  • Place both earbuds in the charging case and leave the lid open while starting pairing.
  • Charge the earbuds, case, and target phone or computer sufficiently to keep Bluetooth active during setup.
  • Keep the open case close to the device. For troubleshooting, Apple recommends staying within 30 feet and moving away from other Bluetooth devices, microwaves, routers, and similar electronics.
  • Turn Bluetooth on before selecting the earbuds.
  • On an iPhone, Apple recommends using the latest available iOS version.

Bluetooth audio pairing itself does not require internet access. Apple notes that Wi-Fi or mobile data may be needed for Find My features during iPhone setup and for Find Hub features during Android setup; those online-service requirements are separate from making the Bluetooth connection.

What you need, and what you do not

You need the Beats Studio Buds+, their charging case, and a Bluetooth-enabled phone or computer. Pairing does not require a cable, a separate Bluetooth adapter for a device that already has Bluetooth, a paid service, or a replacement part. On Android, the Beats app is an optional setup route rather than a requirement. On iPhone, Mac, and Windows, the built-in Bluetooth controls are sufficient.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

A network connection can matter for account-linked locating features, but it is not a prerequisite for sending ordinary audio over Bluetooth. If you are only trying to listen to music or a downloaded file, concentrate first on discovery mode and the Bluetooth device list.

Platform paths at a glance

Platform Nearby setup Manual Bluetooth route Where to start Special note
iPhone Setup animation may appear when the open case is nearby Select Beats Studio Buds+ from Bluetooth devices Settings > Bluetooth Keep iOS up to date; internet may be needed for Find My features
Android phone Nearby setup animation may appear Select the earbuds and tap Pair if prompted Settings > Connections > Bluetooth (label can vary) The Beats app offers a Connect Your Beats path; internet may be needed for Find Hub features
Mac Not required Select the earbuds and click Connect Apple menu > System Settings > Bluetooth Discovery mode is started from the open case
Windows PC Not required Use Windows’ Add Bluetooth device flow Your Windows Bluetooth pairing controls Menu names differ by Windows version

The same case action starts every pairing attempt, but the selection step differs. Phones can present a nearby prompt, while a Mac or PC normally expects you to open its Bluetooth list. Android also has an app-guided option. Treat those as different interfaces for the same discovery process, not as separate pairing technologies.

Pair Beats Studio Buds+ with an iPhone

  1. Open Settings, tap Bluetooth, and make sure Bluetooth is on.
  2. Put both earbuds in the case, open the lid, and hold the case near the iPhone.
  3. If the iPhone displays the Beats setup animation, follow the prompts shown on screen.
  4. If no animation appears, keep the case open and press and hold its system button until the status light flashes white. In the iPhone Bluetooth device list, tap Beats Studio Buds+.

The nearby animation is a shortcut; the manual Bluetooth list is the fallback and does not depend on the animation appearing. The exact product name should be visible in the list before you select it. If several Bluetooth devices are nearby, wait for the white flash and choose the entry that matches the earbuds rather than a similarly named accessory.

The nearby animation is a shortcut; the manual Bluetooth list is the fallback and does not depend on the animation appearing. If you want Find My access as part of setup, Apple says a Wi-Fi or mobile-data connection may be required. That requirement does not prevent ordinary Bluetooth audio pairing.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

If the iPhone shows an old or duplicate entry

Use the iPhone’s Bluetooth controls to forget or unpair the existing Beats entry, then place the earbuds back in discovery mode and select them again. This removes the previous pairing record before you create a fresh one. Do not keep tapping a stale entry while the case is not flashing; repeat the case-button step first.

Pair Beats Studio Buds+ with an Android phone

  1. Open Android’s Bluetooth controls. Apple’s guide uses Settings > Connections > Bluetooth; manufacturers may use slightly different names.
  2. Open the charging case with both earbuds inside and hold it near the phone.
  3. If Android displays a nearby-device setup animation, follow its prompts.
  4. When no animation appears, press and hold the system button on the open case until the light flashes white. Select Beats Studio Buds+ in the Bluetooth list and tap Pair if Android asks for confirmation.

Use the Beats app instead

Apple’s Android instructions also provide an app-based route. Open the Beats app, choose its menu, tap Connect Your Beats, and follow the on-screen instructions. The app is an alternative setup path; Android’s built-in Bluetooth controls remain available when you do not use it. If the app does not present the earbuds, return to the system Bluetooth screen and use the flashing-white-light method.

Wi-Fi or mobile data may be needed for Android Find Hub features during pairing. Basic Bluetooth audio does not depend on that internet connection. This distinction matters if you are setting up the earbuds somewhere without service: you can still complete the Bluetooth connection, even though a locating feature may wait for connectivity.

If Android keeps selecting another device

Open the Bluetooth device list and choose the entry named Beats Studio Buds+ after the case light begins flashing white. If an earlier Beats record is saved but will not connect, forget or unpair it, then repeat discovery mode and pair again. Android menu names and nearby-device prompts differ between manufacturers, so the durable cues are the open case, the flashing light, and the exact Beats name.

Pair Beats Studio Buds+ with a Mac

  1. Open the Apple menu, choose System Settings, select Bluetooth, and turn Bluetooth on.
  2. Leave both earbuds in the open case and hold the case near the Mac.
  3. Press and hold the case system button until the status light flashes white.
  4. Find Beats Studio Buds+ in the device list and click Connect.

The Mac does not need a nearby setup animation. The open case and flashing white light place the earbuds in the same discovery mode used by the other platforms, while System Settings supplies the device-selection step. If the name is not listed, keep the case open, repeat the button hold, and refresh your attention on the Bluetooth list rather than closing the case immediately.

Pair Beats Studio Buds+ with a Windows PC

  1. Put both earbuds in the case and open the lid.
  2. Press and hold the case system button until the light flashes white.
  3. Open the PC’s Bluetooth pairing controls and start Windows’ process for adding a Bluetooth device. Windows menu labels vary by version, so use the Bluetooth settings screen provided by your edition.
  4. Choose Beats Studio Buds+ when it appears and complete the instructions Windows displays.

Apple specifically describes a Windows-based PC as an example of a Bluetooth-enabled device and directs users to follow that device’s pairing instructions. The key model-specific action is putting the open case into discovery mode; the remaining controls belong to Windows.

Because Windows versions use different labels and layouts, do not rely on a single menu name. Look for the area that turns Bluetooth on and adds a new Bluetooth device. Once Windows displays the Beats name, select it and allow the pairing process to finish before testing sound.

When pairing fails

Apple’s wireless Beats troubleshooting guide recommends working through the following checks in order.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

The earbuds do not appear

  • Confirm that both earbuds are in the case, the lid is open, and the system button was held until the light flashed white.
  • Move the case and device closer together. Apple recommends a distance of no more than 30 feet while troubleshooting.
  • Move away from other Bluetooth devices, microwaves, wireless routers, and other electronics that can interfere with the connection.
  • Check that the earbuds and the phone or computer are charged and turned on.

Start with the case rather than changing several phone settings at once. A light that is not flashing white means the earbuds are not advertising themselves for a new connection. Reopen the lid, verify both earbuds are seated in the case, hold the system button again, and then rescan the Bluetooth list.

The device lists the earbuds but will not connect

  1. On the phone or computer, forget or unpair the Beats entry.
  2. Return both earbuds to the open case and hold the system button until the light flashes white.
  3. Select Beats Studio Buds+ again from the device’s Bluetooth controls.
  4. If forgetting and pairing again does not solve the problem, reset the earbuds using Apple’s product-specific reset instructions in its troubleshooting guide.

Forgetting the entry and pairing again is different from merely selecting it repeatedly. The first action clears the saved relationship; the second puts the earbuds into discovery mode and creates a fresh connection. If the reset step becomes necessary, use the product-specific procedure Apple links rather than guessing at a button sequence.

Pairing works but there is no sound

  • Raise the volume on both the Beats and the connected phone or computer.
  • Check which device is selected for audio output. On a Mac, open the Sound settings and choose the Beats in the Output pane; if the computer needs the earbuds’ microphone, check the Input pane as well.
  • On a PC, open the sound settings and select Beats as the playback or recording device, as appropriate.
  • Test a downloaded audio track rather than a stream. Apple recommends this distinction because a streaming service or network connection can fail even when Bluetooth is working.

A connected status only confirms the Bluetooth relationship; it does not guarantee that the computer has routed playback to the earbuds. Correct the output selection before removing and re-adding the Beats. On a computer, also check the input selection when the problem involves the microphone rather than playback.

The connection drops during testing

Keep the case and device within the recommended range, remove nearby sources of wireless interference, and verify that both sides remain charged. If the connection still fails after a fresh pairing, use the reset procedure linked from Apple’s troubleshooting instructions rather than repeatedly selecting the same saved Bluetooth record.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Streaming audio fails, but Bluetooth seems connected

Play a track stored on the phone or computer. Apple specifically recommends a downloaded audio track during troubleshooting because a streaming service or network connection can fail independently of Bluetooth. If downloaded audio plays, investigate the streaming app or network rather than assuming the earbuds need to be paired again.

Common setup mistakes to avoid

  • Closing the case too soon: pairing starts with the lid open and both earbuds inside. Keep it open while the light flashes and while you select the device.
  • Skipping discovery mode: the device list may not show the earbuds until the system button is held and the light flashes white.
  • Searching from the wrong menu: use Bluetooth controls, not a general audio app. On Mac, that is System Settings > Bluetooth; on Windows, use the edition’s Bluetooth add-device flow.
  • Confusing internet features with Bluetooth: Find My or Find Hub connectivity can have Wi-Fi or mobile-data requirements, but ordinary Bluetooth audio does not.
  • Testing only a stream: a network problem can look like silent earbuds. Use downloaded audio to isolate the connection.
  • Ignoring output routing: after a successful pairing, select Beats as the playback device and, when needed, the recording device.

Which pairing method should you use?

Use the nearby setup prompt when it appears

On iPhone and Android, the nearby animation is the quickest route because it presents the earbuds as soon as the open case is close to the phone. Follow the prompts rather than opening a second Bluetooth screen unless the animation fails to appear. The animation is a convenience, not a requirement.

Use manual Bluetooth selection when you need a predictable fallback

Manual selection works across all four platforms. Put the case into discovery mode, open the platform’s Bluetooth controls, and select the exact name Beats Studio Buds+. This is the route to use when a phone does not show a nearby card, when you are pairing with a Mac, or when Windows asks you to add a Bluetooth device.

Use the Android app if you want app-guided setup

Android is the only platform in this guide with the additional app route documented by Apple: open the app menu, choose Connect Your Beats, and follow its prompts. On iPhone, Mac, and Windows, use the platform’s own setup or Bluetooth controls described above.

What successful setup looks like

The earbuds should appear under the exact name Beats Studio Buds+, and the phone or computer should report that they are connected. If the status light is still flashing white, the case remains in discovery mode; complete selection in the device’s Bluetooth interface. If the device reports a connection but sends audio elsewhere, correct the output selection in its sound controls rather than pairing repeatedly.

Interface wording can change as iOS, Android, macOS, and Windows are updated. The durable sequence is unchanged: earbuds in the open case, hold the system button until the light flashes white, then select Beats Studio Buds+ on the target device. For current platform-specific labels, consult Apple’s Pair Beats guide.

Frequently asked questions

Do both earbuds have to be in the case?

Yes. Apple’s pairing sequence starts with both earbuds in the case, the lid open, and the system button held until the status light flashes white. Use that arrangement whenever you begin a new pairing attempt.

What does a flashing white light indicate?

It indicates that Beats Studio Buds+ are ready to pair. Once the light flashes, select the earbuds in the phone or computer’s Bluetooth controls.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Can I pair without Wi-Fi or mobile data?

Yes for ordinary Bluetooth audio. Apple’s online-connection notes apply to Find My on iPhone and Find Hub on Android, not to the basic Bluetooth connection.

Why does the iPhone setup animation not appear?

The animation is optional. Open Settings > Bluetooth, put the open case into discovery mode until the light flashes white, and tap Beats Studio Buds+ in the device list.

Do I need the Beats app on Android?

No. The app provides an alternative route through its menu’s Connect Your Beats option, but Android’s built-in Bluetooth controls can pair the earbuds without it.

How close should the devices be?

Keep the case near the phone or computer while pairing. During troubleshooting, Apple recommends staying within 30 feet and moving away from other Bluetooth devices, microwaves, routers, and similar electronics.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Why are the earbuds connected but silent?

Raise volume, then check the selected output. Choose Beats in the Mac Sound Output pane or in the PC’s playback settings. If needed, select Beats as the recording device too, and test a downloaded track instead of streamed audio.

What should I do if forgetting the device does not help?

Put both earbuds in the open case, hold the system button until the light flashes white, and pair again. If that still fails, follow Apple’s product-specific reset instructions linked in its wireless Beats troubleshooting guide.
