SearchPeopleFree appeared to remove information after researchers requested removal from PeopleFinders, but that was the researchers’ tentative inference in a 2024 study—not a current SearchPeopleFree promise. The study does not verify SearchPeopleFree’s present opt-out form, required steps, processing time, or whether a request covers other sites. Treat removal as site-specific: locate your listing, use that site’s current official privacy or removal route, then check the result on each site you care about.
What the evidence says about SearchPeopleFree removal
SearchPeopleFree was among the people-search websites examined in a controlled study involving searches for participants’ information, removal requests, and later checks. The authors wrote: “We think that removal from PeopleFinders resulted in removal from TruePeopleSearch, FastPeopleSearch and SearchPeopleFree.” Their wording is explicitly tentative: they inferred a connection from what they observed, rather than establishing a current SearchPeopleFree policy or guaranteed outcome. The study, published in Proceedings on Privacy Enhancing Technologies in 2024, is the strongest direct evidence here, but it does not establish how the site works today.

The finding is useful as a clue that removal requests may have effects across connected sites. It is not evidence that one request removes every copy of a profile, deletes information held by underlying sources, or prevents a listing from appearing again.

The study does not establish SearchPeopleFree’s current form, identity checks, processing time, or the scope it promises. Don’t rely on an old walkthrough or assume a particular form or timeline is still valid. Instead, use the site’s own current privacy or removal route and read the terms shown there before submitting personal information.
#1 Best Overall
- Find your listing. Search the site for the profile you want removed and confirm that it is yours. Record the profile’s URL so you can check the same listing later.
- Open the current official route. Follow the privacy, removal, or opt-out link provided by the site itself. A study found that some sites offered removal through a “Do not Sell my Information” style footer link, but that aggregate observation does not confirm SearchPeopleFree’s current navigation.
- Follow the instructions shown at submission. Provide only what the current form requests, and complete any verification it specifies. The study’s verification statistics describe its sample, not SearchPeopleFree’s present requirements.
- Keep a record and check again. Save the request confirmation and revisit the profile after the site’s stated processing period, if it gives one. If the listing remains, use the site’s stated follow-up or contact route.
- Check other sites separately. Search for your information on each people-search site you care about and use that site’s own current route. The observed SearchPeopleFree effect does not guarantee that another site will respond to the same request.
How SearchPeopleFree compares with other people-search sites
The available evidence supports a limited comparison, not a current step-by-step ranking of SearchPeopleFree, Whitepages, or Spokeo. The 2024 study reports patterns across its sample, while the specific SearchPeopleFree cross-site result is an inference from observed removals.
| Question | What the 2024 study establishes | What it does not establish for SearchPeopleFree today |
|---|---|---|
| Is there evidence of a removal route? | Researchers submitted removal requests to sampled sites; SearchPeopleFree was included. | The current SearchPeopleFree page, form sequence, or exact route. |
| What identity details or verification are required? | Across the sample, nine of ten sites used some verification method; six requested email and two requested a phone number. Seven forms asked for a profile URL. | Which details SearchPeopleFree currently requests or how it verifies a requester. |
| Does the site explain scope and timing? | The authors found removal scope was often poorly explained across the studied sites. | SearchPeopleFree’s current stated coverage or processing estimate. |
| Can one request affect connected sites? | The authors thought a PeopleFinders removal resulted in removal from SearchPeopleFree, TruePeopleSearch, and FastPeopleSearch. | A guaranteed cross-site effect, including for Whitepages or Spokeo, or a current policy linking those sites. |
| Does a listing stay removed? | The study checked sites after requests, but it does not establish permanent suppression. | Whether SearchPeopleFree addresses reappearance or how long a listing remains suppressed. |
These sample figures are study-wide results, not SearchPeopleFree-specific requirements. The paper also says 14 of the sites in its examined ecosystem were connected to four groups; that describes the study’s sample and should not be generalized to all people-search websites.
What “removal” means—and what it may not mean
The study defines removal as a way to ask a site to stop displaying personal information, distinguishing that from deletion of account-related information. In practical terms, an opt-out may suppress a visible listing without erasing records held by a source, every duplicate profile, or information on other sites. The current policy for a particular site is the place to check what its request covers.

Because the study found that scope was often not clearly defined, don’t interpret a successful result on one page as proof that every record has been deleted. Recheck the original listing and search other sites independently; a cross-site connection observed in one study is not a substitute for those checks.

When managing requests across sites
If you prefer not to submit and track requests yourself, a managed data-removal service is one category of option. Compare its current site coverage, terms, monitoring, and limits before paying; the study does not establish that any service can guarantee permanent removal.
