Opening a Binance.US account has three gates: your state or territory must be eligible, you must create a login and confirm both email and phone, and you must complete identity verification. Basic Verification requires your legal identity information, a valid SSN or ITIN, and a physical residential address. Advanced Verification adds a government-issued photo ID and a facial selfie check for higher limits and OTC trading. Check location eligibility before you begin, because unsupported residents cannot register or verify, and Kansas and Wisconsin currently have crypto-only service rather than USD features.
Check whether Binance.US serves your location
Binance.US availability is determined by the state or territory of residence you enter during verification, not simply by where you are physically browsing. The platform maintains a current supported-and-unsupported location list, and that list can change. Review it immediately before creating an account.

If you move, change your legal residence, or see a different status during signup, use the status shown by Binance.US rather than relying on an older list. Do not enter another state, a temporary address, or a friend’s address to get around a restriction; the address must be your current residential address and must match your identity records.

What you need before signup
- An email address you can open immediately.
- A phone number that can receive SMS messages.
- A password and confirmation that you are at least 18 years old.
- A valid SSN or ITIN and your legal identity details.
- Your current physical residential address. A PO Box is not accepted.
- If you plan to use Advanced Verification, an unexpired U.S. government ID and a phone or computer camera for the facial selfie check.
- Good lighting and a camera that can produce sharp, glare-free images. Have both sides of a document ready when the document has information on both sides.
Keep the name and address on your account consistent with the information on your documents. Differences in spelling, middle names, apartment formatting, or an old address can send an otherwise complete application for additional review.

Open an account on the Binance.US website
- Start at the registration page. Open https://www.binance.us/register. Enter your email address and a password.
- Accept the eligibility and policy prompts. Confirm that you are over 18, then accept the Terms of Use and Privacy Policy.
- Confirm your email. Binance.US sends a verification message. Open it and enter the authentication code requested on the registration screen. If it does not appear, check spam or promotions folders and make sure you entered the correct address before requesting another message.
- Add and verify your phone. Enter your phone number, request the SMS message, and type the six-digit code. SMS authentication is required to finish signup, even though you can add or select another two-factor method later.
- Begin identity verification. On the Verify Identity screen, enter the last four digits of your SSN, complete the requested personal-information fields, and enter your current residential address. Do not substitute a PO Box.
- Submit the Basic Verification review. Check every field against your identity documents before submitting. A mismatch is a common reason for a request to correct information or provide more evidence.
After the email and SMS steps, the account exists as a login, but access to the platform’s full trading capabilities depends on completing identity verification and any regional or account-level checks Binance.US applies.
Use the mobile app or Apple Sign-In
The mobile app follows the same core path: authenticate with email or Apple, set up SMS, and complete identity verification. Apple Sign-In can automatically satisfy the initial email-confirmation step, but it does not remove the other requirements.
- You still need SMS setup and the six-digit phone code.
- You must consent to biometric use when the app requests it.
- You must complete Identity Verification, including an ID upload when Advanced Verification is required.
- On iOS, Apple Sign-In requires Binance.US app version 3.48.0 or higher according to the official Apple Sign-In guide.
Apple Sign-In is therefore a different way to establish the email connection, not a way to bypass phone authentication, biometric consent, or identity checks.

Basic Verification is the minimum identity tier described for a fully usable account. It asks for SSN or ITIN-related information, legal identity details, and a physical residential address. Binance.US specifically requests the last four digits of the SSN during the web flow; the service may request additional information as part of its identity review.

Why Binance.US asks for your SSN or ITIN
The SSN or ITIN is a required identity attribute for Basic Verification. Binance.US uses it alongside your legal name, date or other identifying details requested in the form, and address to establish that the account belongs to the person submitting it. Enter your own valid information exactly as it appears in your records. Do not use someone else’s number or an invented value.
Enter a physical residential address
The address field is not a mailing-address workaround. Binance.US states that the address must be your current residential address and that PO Box addresses cannot be accepted. If you have recently moved, use the address where you currently live and be prepared to provide a document showing it if the system asks for proof.
What Basic Verification enables
Subject to personalized limits and regional availability, Basic Verification supports ACH USD deposits and withdrawals, buying, selling, converting, crypto deposits and withdrawals, staking, and API trading. The exact limits are account-specific; completion of Basic Verification does not guarantee a particular dollar limit.
Prepare documents for Advanced Verification
Advanced Verification includes the Basic features and adds increased bank-transfer limits and OTC trading. It requires a valid U.S. government-issued photo ID and automated facial verification.

Start Advanced Verification in the account
- Sign in and open Profile & Limits.
- Choose Advanced Verification.
- Follow the upload prompt for your government ID.
- Complete the facial selfie step when prompted. Keep your face unobstructed and follow the on-screen positioning and lighting instructions.
- Submit the review and watch for any request for additional information.
Accepted government IDs

Use the document type shown in the app or web form. An expired ID, an unsupported document, or a photograph that cuts off an edge can prevent automated verification.
Image and data rules that prevent rejection
- Match the name: The account name and the name on the ID must refer to the same legal identity. Do not shorten, translate, or rearrange names unless the form specifically instructs you to do so.
- Match the address: Use your current residential address. If Binance.US requests proof of address, the document must show your full name and residential address.
- Use a valid document: IDs must be unexpired. Check the expiration date before taking the photo.
- Show every required edge: Photograph all corners and the entire document. Where a card has information on both sides, submit both sides.
- Remove glare and blur: Retake the image if text, holograms, or the photograph are hard to read.
- Use suitable lighting: Binance.US recommends a dark background for ID photos. Avoid reflections from overhead lights and keep the camera lens clean.
- Follow the selfie prompt: Keep your face in frame and follow any movement or positioning request rather than uploading an unrelated portrait.
Provide proof of address when requested
Not every applicant is asked for a separate address document. If Binance.US requests one, submit the complete original document through the secure link supplied by Binance.US support or in its email. The stated requirements are a legible PDF, issued within the last 90 days, showing your full name and residential address.

Do not send a screenshot with missing pages, a document whose address is a PO Box, or a file that has been edited to hide information required for the check. If the upload page is reached through a support message, use that secure route rather than replying with sensitive documents to an unrelated address.

Choose Advanced Verification when the increased bank-transfer limits or OTC access matters to you. It is not a replacement for Basic Verification; it builds on the identity information already submitted.

How long verification takes
Binance.US’s published instructions do not promise a fixed verification time or provide a guaranteed number of minutes or days. A submission can proceed through automated checks, while a request for clearer images, proof of address, or other information can require additional review. Treat a pending status as incomplete rather than assuming the account has been approved.
While waiting, monitor the email address attached to the account and the notifications in the website or app. If Binance.US asks for a replacement image or a proof-of-address PDF, send exactly the requested material through the secure workflow. Submitting a different name, an old address, or a second account will not solve a document mismatch.
Troubleshoot a failed or stuck verification
The state or territory is not eligible
Stop the application and confirm your actual residence against Binance.US’s current location list. Residents of an unsupported location cannot complete registration and verification. If you live in Kansas or Wisconsin, expect crypto-only availability and no USD services on the current listing.
The form rejects personal information
- Compare the legal name and address character by character with your documents.
- Use your current residential address, not a PO Box, business address, or former residence.
- Confirm that the SSN or ITIN information belongs to you and is entered in the requested format.
- Check that your age confirmation and policy acceptance were completed during signup.
The ID upload fails
- Retake the photo with all corners visible, no glare, and enough resolution to read the text.
- Use a valid, unexpired document from the accepted list and upload both sides where applicable.
- Use a dark background for the ID image and even lighting for the selfie.
- If the upload fails on a computer, try the mobile app, another browser, Incognito mode, or another device.
The selfie check does not pass
Use the camera requested by the verification screen, remove hats or anything obscuring your face, and follow the movement instructions in good light. The face in the selfie must correspond to the identity document and the account holder.
Proof of address is rejected
Upload the complete original PDF, not a cropped image. Check that it was issued within the last 90 days and clearly shows your full name and physical residential address. Use the secure link provided by Binance.US support or email for that request.
SMS or email codes do not arrive
Verify that the email address and phone number were entered correctly, check spam folders, and request a new code from the same signup screen. SMS is mandatory for completing signup; another two-factor method can be added or selected later, but it does not replace the initial SMS step.
After approval: secure the account
Once verification is complete, review the account’s security settings and add an additional two-factor method if Binance.US offers one for your account. SMS remains part of the initial signup requirement, while the service states that the two-factor method can be changed later. Keep your email account and phone number secure because they are part of the account-recovery and authentication chain.
