There is no safe universal teardown procedure for an MSI gaming monitor: the model number determines how its stand, rear cover, screws, clips, and internal cables are arranged. Find the full model number on the rear label, then open that model’s official MSI support page and manual before removing anything. The detailed MSI procedure available here covers the PRO MP275QPG V4 family—not unspecified Optix, MAG, MPG, or other gaming monitors.
Identify your monitor before attempting disassembly
Read the complete model number from the label on the back of the monitor. Use it to find the matching product page on MSI Support and check the downloads and manuals for your region. A manual for a different MSI monitor is not a substitute: the available PRO MP275QPG V4 service guide does not establish where another model’s clips or screws are, which way its cover opens, or how its cables are routed. MSI’s monitor support page also provides routes for warranty status, service applications, and service-location lookup.

Decide what you actually need to remove. Taking off a stand for transport or VESA mounting is a limited task; opening the rear enclosure to reach boards or cables is a deeper repair. If you only need the stand off, follow the exact model’s manual and stop there.

Prepare safely before any disassembly
MSI’s PRO MP275QPG V4 service guide gives these precautions for its covered model family. They are sensible safeguards, but they do not confirm a gaming monitor’s specific disassembly procedure.
#1 Best Overall
- Rapid VA Panel – Provides 0.5ms (GtG, Min.) response time, optimizes screen colors and brightness
- 240Hz Refresh Rate – Respond faster with smoother frames
- 0.5ms (GtG, Min.) Response Time – Eliminate screen tearing and choppy frame rates
- AI Vision – The new AI Vision technology can not only reveal details in dark areas but also enhance overall brightness and saturate colors
- Less Blue Light – Use a software solution to reduce the light emission in the blue-violet region of the blue light spectrum
- Power off the monitor and computer, unplug both power cords from their outlets, and disconnect every cable from the monitor.
- Work on a steady, protected surface. For the covered PRO stand procedure, MSI specifies placing the monitor face down.
- Keep pressure off the display surface. MSI warns that the panel is fragile and may break.
- Use dry hands. Before handling electrostatic-sensitive components, the PRO guide advises using an anti-static wrist strap.
- Keep track of every screw if you are following a model-matched service procedure so none are left inside or omitted during reassembly.
The PRO guide lists a cross-head screwdriver and pry tool among possible tools, along with optional tools for particular procedures. Tool choice and screw details can vary by model; having a pry tool or screwdriver does not make an unsupported teardown safe. MSI recommends authorized service-center assistance in the guide. Check MSI’s support options for your region before proceeding.
Removing the stand is not the same as opening the monitor
For the covered PRO MP275QPG V4 family, MSI’s service guide says to set the monitor face down on a steady, protected surface, remove the screws securing the stand, and lift the stand off. That is an example for that family only. MSI gaming monitors may use a different screw arrangement or a quick-release mechanism, so use the exact model manual rather than copying those steps.

If the goal is a VESA mount, confirm the mounting instructions and compatibility in the manual for your model. Do not open the rear cover to remove a stand or attach a mount unless the model-specific instructions explicitly require it.

For the PRO family covered by its guide, MSI describes releasing the top and side cover edges, carefully using a pry tool at the bottom, and lifting the cover gently. The guide warns that speaker cables may still connect the cover to the monitor and cautions against pressing on the screen. It also describes removing the navigation board, speakers, and cables from the cover.

- MSI's 23.8-inch Full HD IPS gaming monitor (1920×1080) delivers a 1500:1 contrast ratio with wide 178°/178° viewing angles — producing deeper blacks, brighter highlights, and accurate colors from virtually any position for gaming and productivity.
- TÜV Rheinland certified Flicker Free and Low Blue Light — eliminating the ~200Hz screen flicker common on standard monitors and reducing harmful blue light exposure to minimize eye strain during extended gaming or work sessions.
- 144Hz high refresh rate delivers ultra-smooth motion and sharper tracking versus standard 60Hz or 75Hz monitors — keeping every frame fluid and responsive for fast-paced FPS, racing, and action games without screen tearing or stuttering.
- MSI's built-in Eye-Q Check provides a vision assessment tool to help optimize display settings for healthier long-term viewing — designed for professionals and students spending extended hours in front of a Full HD IPS screen.
- Tilt-adjustable stand (-5°~20°) for comfortable viewing at any desk setup, with VESA 100×100mm wall mount compatibility for monitor arms, brackets, and multi-monitor arrangements — reducing neck strain during long gaming or work sessions.
Those details explain why an internal teardown should not be improvised; they are not instructions for an unspecified MSI gaming monitor. Without the exact model and its service procedure, the clip locations, screw type and count, opening direction, and cable layout are not established. Stop rather than prying if your model’s instructions are unavailable or the cover resists.

MSI’s general warranty policy says terms vary by region and lists damage resulting from unauthorized third-party repair among its exclusions. It also says the policy does not diminish applicable statutory consumer protections. That does not mean opening every MSI monitor automatically voids every warranty: the outcome depends on the regional terms, what happened, and applicable law. Read the terms for your region before opening the enclosure.
Use MSI’s global monitor support page to look for manuals, warranty-status checks, service applications, and service locations. In the United States, MSI’s US support page provides monitor support articles, online RMA, and web-ticket options. Processes differ by region; use the page applicable to your location.
