Define one buyer, one problem, one measurable outcome and a bounded scope. Add proof, state where and how you work, choose either a starting hourly rate or Contact for pricing, then move serious inquiries into a proposal and an external agreement that covers deliverables, milestones, terms and payment.
LinkedIn does not publish a universal consulting-rate benchmark. Your price should come from the value of the outcome, the work required, the risk and urgency, and the way you package access—not from an invented “normal LinkedIn rate.”

What LinkedIn consulting services actually are
A Service Page is a structured offer attached to a LinkedIn personal profile or, for eligible smaller organizations, a Company Page. It tells a potential buyer what you do, who you help, where you work, whether you work remotely and how to begin a conversation.
LinkedIn functions mainly as a discovery, inquiry and proposal channel. A typical transaction follows this pattern:
#1 Best Overall
- [Ultra-Lightweight Ear Buds Designed for Small Ears] Each earbud weighs only 3.7g and features a compact, ergonomic in-ear design made especially for small ears. Secure, low-profile, and comfortable for workouts, all-day wear or overnight sleeping. The ultra-slim profile sits flush in your ear with no hard edges poking or rubbing, so you can even sleep on your side without discomfort.
- [Immersive Stereo Sound with TOZO OrigX Technology] TOZO OrigX tuning delivers clear vocals, balanced mids, and natural stereo sound for music, podcasts, and videos.
- [Long Battery Life for Daily Use] Get up to 7 hours of playtime on a single charge, with up to 32 hours total using the charging case—ideal for workdays, commuting, and extended listening sessions.
- [Bluetooth 5.3 & Stable Connection] Bluetooth 5.3 provides fast pairing, stable wireless performance, and reduced dropouts as you move around home or office.
- [Deep Bass with Clear Vocals] High-performance drivers produce punchy bass while keeping vocals clean and detailed for everyday listening.
- A buyer searches LinkedIn or asks their network for recommendations.
- The buyer submits a project request.
- Providers who appear suitable send proposals.
- The buyer and consultant agree on scope, schedule, contract terms and payment outside LinkedIn.
- After delivery, the consultant may invite the buyer to leave a review.
That separation matters. Your Service Page must make the offer understandable, but it is not a substitute for a statement of work, change-control language, invoicing process or payment terms.
Choose the right LinkedIn Service Page
Personal profile Service Page
Use a personal Service Page when clients hire you for your own expertise, reputation and availability. LinkedIn’s current profile path is:
- Open your LinkedIn profile.
- Select Add profile section.
- Choose Add services.
- Select the service categories that accurately describe your work.
- Write an optional About description explaining the buyer, problem, outcome and scope.
- Set your work location and indicate whether you work remotely.
- Choose either a starting hourly rate or Contact for pricing.
- Save the page, then check the public view for clarity and accuracy.
The starting price is a floor signal, not a promise that every project will cost that amount. LinkedIn’s Help wording is explicit: “Starting price is intended to show buyers the minimum amount you charge for your services, and is not a guarantee of the final price.”

Company Page Service Page
A Company Page can add services when the company has 500 employees or fewer, according to LinkedIn’s current eligibility guidance. The Page can include service categories, a description, location, remote availability, a starting hourly rate or Contact for pricing, and media that demonstrates the company’s work. A Page can also use a Request Services call to action.
Use the Company Page when the buyer is contracting with an agency or consultancy rather than an individual. Make the relationship clear: identify the lead consultant, explain who performs the work and show how handoffs are managed.
Build an offer a buyer can evaluate quickly
A service list such as “strategy, operations, marketing and leadership coaching” forces a buyer to do the positioning for you. A stronger page answers six questions in a few seconds.
1. Who is the buyer?
Name a role, company stage or situation: a founder preparing for a first sales hire, a product leader with a stalled launch, or an operations director integrating two teams. Specificity helps the right person recognize themselves and discourages poor-fit inquiries.

2. What problem do you solve?
Describe an observable problem rather than a skill. “Unclear pricing strategy” is more useful than “business consulting.” “A backlog of customer interviews with no decision framework” is more concrete than “research support.”
3. What outcome can the buyer expect?
State the decision, risk reduction, capability or time saved that your work is designed to produce. Keep the claim within your control. You can promise a documented pricing recommendation, an executive-ready operating plan or a facilitated decision workshop; you cannot guarantee a buyer’s revenue, funding or market response.
4. What is included and excluded?
List the deliverables, meeting count, research depth, data or stakeholder access required, revision rounds and handoff materials. Explicit exclusions prevent a small diagnostic from silently becoming an open-ended implementation project.
5. Why should the buyer trust you?
Add relevant experience, recommendations, case examples or media. A useful proof item identifies the situation, your role, the work delivered and the observed result without exposing confidential information. If a result cannot be disclosed, describe the decision or artifact you produced instead.
6. What happens next?
Give one low-friction next step: send a short brief, request a fit call, or ask for a diagnostic proposal. Tell the buyer what information to include, such as the business goal, deadline, stakeholders and existing materials.
How to use LinkedIn inquiries without losing control of scope
Treat every inquiry as a qualification conversation, not an automatic commitment. Before quoting, establish:
- The business decision or problem that triggered the request.
- Who owns the decision and who must participate.
- The desired deadline and what makes it urgent.
- Available data, systems, documents and stakeholder access.
- The expected deliverable and how the buyer will judge completion.
- Constraints such as confidentiality, regulated information or executive visibility.
- The budget range or purchasing process, when the buyer can disclose it.
Reply quickly and consistently. LinkedIn may show an average response time when qualifying responses are made within 24 hours. It may show a response rate when at least 80% of inquiries receive responses. These are platform signals, not guaranteed lead-volume or conversion results, so set them as operating targets rather than promises in your marketing copy.

Set a price without inventing a LinkedIn “market rate”
There is no official universal consulting hourly rate for LinkedIn. Build a price from the economics and risk of the specific engagement.

Value and outcome
Estimate what the engagement helps the buyer decide, avoid, accelerate or create. A recommendation that prevents a costly misstep, shortens a launch or gives an executive team a usable plan can justify a different price from low-risk information gathering. Value should inform positioning, but do not claim financial results you cannot control or verify.
Scope and deliverables
Price the actual work: discovery, preparation, analysis, meetings, documentation, revisions, coordination and handoff. State what is excluded. A quote that covers only live meeting time will underprice the preparation and follow-through that make the work useful.
Effort and capacity
Calculate a viable floor using your target income, business overhead, tax and benefit reserve, and realistic billable hours. Your available working hours are not all billable: sales, administration, learning, scheduling and proposal work consume capacity. Include approved subcontractors or specialist costs when they are part of delivery.
A practical floor is:
(target income + overhead + tax/benefit reserve + delivery costs) ÷ realistic billable hours
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsUse the result as an internal constraint, not as a rate you must publish. If a project cannot meet the floor after its scope and risk are clear, narrow the work, change the format or decline it.
Risk and urgency
Increase the price or tighten the terms when the engagement involves uncertain data, regulated work, executive exposure, a compressed deadline, difficult stakeholder coordination or a high cost of error. A rushed project may require reserved capacity, faster review cycles and explicit assumptions.

Positioning and access
Specialist judgment, scarce experience and direct access to a senior adviser can support a higher price than general information. Explain what the buyer is purchasing: a decision process, an independent assessment, facilitation, implementation guidance or continuing access.
Choose an offer format that matches the work
| Format | Best when | Scope and buyer risk | Typical deliverables | Revenue pattern |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Hourly advisory | The buyer needs bounded access, coaching or problem-solving and the work cannot be fully specified in advance. | Flexible scope; the buyer carries more uncertainty about the final total. | Scheduled advisory hours, review of defined materials, written follow-up within agreed limits. | Variable; tied to hours used or a prepaid block. |
| Fixed-scope diagnostic or workshop | The problem, inputs and decision are clear enough to define an end point. | Lower buyer uncertainty when assumptions are explicit; consultant carries delivery risk inside the fixed scope. | Interviews or document review, a workshop, findings, recommendations and a handoff document. | One defined fee, usually paid against agreed milestones. |
| Milestone or retainer | The buyer needs continuing support, implementation guidance or recurring decision access. | Scope must be governed over time; both parties need rules for priorities and unused capacity. | Recurring meetings, work products, implementation reviews or an agreed capacity allocation. | More predictable recurring revenue when the buyer renews. |
Do not force every service into hourly pricing. Use hourly pricing when access is the product and the boundaries are clear. Use a fixed fee for a defined diagnostic or workshop. Use milestones or a retainer when the work continues and priorities will be managed over time.

| Choice | Advantages | Risks and limits | Use it when |
|---|---|---|---|
| Starting hourly rate | Gives buyers an immediate budget signal and filters out inquiries far below your floor. | Can anchor buyers to a number that does not fit complex work; it may be misunderstood as the final project price. | You have a repeatable advisory scope and can explain what the minimum applies to. |
| Contact for pricing | Preserves room to price different levels of complexity, access, urgency and risk. | Provides less self-qualification and may create more back-and-forth before a buyer understands the investment. | Stakeholders, deliverables, data quality or risk vary substantially between engagements. |
If you publish a starting hourly rate, label it in your description as a minimum for a defined type of access and say that final pricing depends on scope. If discovery is essential, choose Contact for pricing and explain what information you need before quoting.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Turn a qualified inquiry into a proposal
After the initial exchange, send a concise proposal that makes the commercial decision easy. Include:
- Objective: the decision or outcome the engagement supports.
- Deliverables: named documents, sessions, analyses or implementation reviews.
- Method and access: interviews, data review, workshops, meeting cadence and buyer responsibilities.
- Timeline: start date, milestones, review windows and completion date.
- Assumptions: data quality, stakeholder availability, tools, approvals and response times.
- Price and payment schedule: the fee, deposit or milestone amounts, invoicing dates and payment timing.
- Change control: how additional meetings, new stakeholders, extra analysis or deadline changes are approved and priced.
- Next step: the person who signs, the date to accept and the information needed to start.
Complete the agreement and payment outside LinkedIn, as LinkedIn’s provider workflow specifies. Use a contract or statement of work that addresses confidentiality, intellectual property, cancellation, late payment, liability and dispute handling where appropriate for your jurisdiction and engagement.
Use proof and media responsibly
Media can make a Service Page easier to evaluate, particularly on a Company Page. Choose a small number of relevant artifacts: a sanitized framework, a public talk, a case-study page or a sample deliverable. Explain the context and your contribution. Do not upload a client’s confidential material or imply that a testimonial covers work you did not perform.

Optional Premium features and paid consultations
Premium Business, Sales Navigator and Recruiter Lite can add Service Page detail, media, lead-generation features and enhanced presentation. They are optional for publishing a basic service offer. Decide on a paid plan only after you know which feature solves a current bottleneck, such as insufficient presentation space or a need for additional lead tools.
Premium Company Page Essentials advertises up to 30 more service matches per month on its 2026 plan page. Eligibility, limits and pricing can change, so verify the offer in the account and region where you intend to use it before relying on that figure.
On May 12, 2026, LinkedIn announced that some small businesses and founders could offer paid one-to-one consultations with booking, payment and video management from a profile. Availability is account-dependent. Check the target account for the feature before promising an in-LinkedIn paid consultation; otherwise use LinkedIn for discovery and handle scheduling, contracting and payment through your established external process.
Common mistakes and how to fix them
Listing too many services
Symptom: Visitors cannot tell which problem to bring you. Fix: Lead with one buyer and one outcome, then place adjacent capabilities in the description or a separate offer.
Publishing an hourly number without boundaries
Symptom: Buyers assume the displayed minimum is the total project price. Fix: Define what the starting rate covers and move complex work to a scoped proposal.
Quoting before discovery
Symptom: The price changes repeatedly as stakeholders, data or deliverables appear. Fix: Ask qualification questions first, or sell a small paid diagnostic that creates the information needed for a larger proposal.
Promising outcomes outside your control
Symptom: Copy guarantees revenue, funding, hiring or market results. Fix: Promise the work product and decision support you control, and describe business results as intended or observed outcomes with appropriate evidence.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
Ignoring response operations
Symptom: A polished page generates inquiries that sit unanswered. Fix: Set an owner, response window, qualification template and handoff rule. Fast acknowledgement is useful even when a full proposal requires more time.
Treating LinkedIn as the contract
Symptom: The project starts with only messages and no agreed change process or payment terms. Fix: Move the engagement into a written external agreement before substantive delivery begins.
