If you are there, use an internet service available at your location. If you are elsewhere, you need a VPN or proxy with a verified FSM endpoint; simply turning on a VPN does not give you an FSM IP. The IPinfo country listing checked on October 7, 2026, showed no VPN exit nodes in the FSM, and that listing is not an exhaustive check of every provider.
First, define “Micronesian IP”
This guide uses “Micronesian” to mean the Federated States of Micronesia, not the wider Micronesia region. The FSM consists of four states: Chuuk, Kosrae, Pohnpei, and Yap. The U.S. Department of State identifies the country and its travel guidance on its FSM travel page.

An IP address is not a guarantee of physical location. Websites and geolocation databases estimate location from network and routing information, and their results may differ. IANA’s .fm delegation record identifies the FSM and its ccTLD manager; it does not establish where a particular IP address will be classified. A .fm website, a Micronesian-themed domain, or a VPN-capable router does not by itself make your connection appear to originate in the FSM.
If you are in the FSM, use local internet service
FSM Telecommunications Corporation lists residential, wireless, business, and dedicated internet services on its official website. Check whether service is available at the specific address or island where you will connect, and confirm current plans and terms with the provider.

The service listing does not promise that a customer will receive a particular public IPv4 or IPv6 address, or that geolocation databases will label the address as FSM. After connecting, check the public IP and test the site or application you need to use.
If you are outside the FSM, verify an exit endpoint before subscribing
A remote VPN or proxy can make your traffic appear to come from the FSM only if it routes traffic through an endpoint there. Before paying, ask the provider directly whether it offers a current exit endpoint physically in the Federated States of Micronesia. Confirm that it is an FSM exit, rather than a nearby country or a location label that does not reflect the actual exit.

The IPinfo Micronesia country listing, checked October 7, 2026, showed no VPN exit nodes in the FSM. This is a dated listing, not an exhaustive provider audit; it does not conclusively establish that no VPN or proxy can offer such an endpoint. No specific consumer VPN or proxy with a verified FSM exit is established here.

- Connect to local internet service in the FSM, or to a provider endpoint it has confirmed is in the FSM.
- Use a reputable IP lookup service to check the public address and the country it reports. If available, compare results from more than one database.
- Test the specific website or app you need. Its location checks may differ from general IP lookup results, and an FSM country label does not guarantee that a service will accept the address.
Keep location routing separate from travel security
The U.S. Department of State’s FSM travel guidance dated July 16, 2026, says: “Use reputable, U.S.-based VPN or VoIP applications.” It also advises against connecting to public Wi-Fi networks. This is travel-security advice, not confirmation that a recommended VPN provides an FSM exit endpoint. Check the guidance on the Department’s FSM travel page.

What country-level connectivity figures can—and cannot—tell you
Internet Society Pulse’s Micronesia country report publishes indicators for different years. These describe the country-level network environment, not expected speed, coverage, or IP geolocation at an individual address or on a specific island.
| Indicator | Reported value | Year |
|---|---|---|
| Average broadband download speed | 12.21 Mbps | 2023 |
| Share of average income (GNI) needed to cover a low-consumption internet basket | 8.89% | 2025 |
| IPv6 access | 16% | 2026 |
| Active networks | 6 | 2026 |
| Top 1,000 websites accessible through an in-country server or cache | 2% | 2026 |
The report lists FSM Telecommunications Corporation and SpaceX Starlink among the top internet service providers by market share. It does not establish that either service gives an individual customer an FSM-geolocated public IP.
